I've got the finishing positions as follows:

1. #2 Jim Richards (Holden Commodore VR)
2. #015 Tomas Mezera (Holden Commodore VR)
3. #11 Larry Perkins (Holden Commodore VR)
4. #35 Alan Jones (Ford Falcon EB)
5. #30 Glenn Seton (Ford Falcon EF)
6. #18 John Bowe (Ford Falcon EF)
7. #17 Dick Johnson (Ford Falcon EF)
8. #05 Peter Brock (Holden Commodore VR)
9. #4 Wayne Gardner (Holden Commodore VR)
10. #7 Neil Crompton (Holden Commodore VR)

On the downside, I don't have the starting positions. On the upside, I was at this meeting! :)

The above listing by porsche956 is the actual Dash results for the 1995 Shell ATCC, Round 1. It was raining on Sunday, hence the not-so-surprising outcome of a JR win in the morning Dash.

Qualifying on a fine Saturday had Bowe fastest at 1m12.811s, followed by Johnson on 1m13.111s, Seton on 1m13.272s, and then Perkins in the first of the Holdens on 1m13.415s.
Jim Richards qualified eighth fastest in official practice.

Quite right. According to Auto Action...

1. John Bowe (Ford Falcon EF) 1m12.811s
2. Dick Johnson (Ford Falcon EF) 1m13.111s
3. Glenn Seton (Ford Falcon EF) 1m13.272s
4. Larry Perkins (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.415s
5. Wayne Gardner (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.593s
6. Tomas Mezera (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.652s
7. Alan Jones (Ford Falcon EB) 1m13.669s
8. Jim Richards (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.800s
9. Neil Crompton (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.927s
10. Peter Brock (Holden Commodore VR) 1m13.976s

What the results were of Sunday morning's draw for starting positions, I don't know. I think only those with the telecast on tape would know, IIRC it's not mentioned in AA.

In 1995 (as it had been since mid-way through 1994), the PJ Dash was only for points and money; it didn't determine the starting positions for race 1. More's the pity...would've been a very different race with Richo and Mezera starting off the front!

My copy of the race doesnt include the dash, I put both races up on youtube some time ago if you want to have a look.

You are correct..

When the PJ Dash was first brought in (1992):
- it was for the top six qualified cars
- it would begin with a rolling start
- the starting positions were determined by drawing cards
- the finishing positions dictated the top six starting positions for Heat 1

For 1993:
- the fastest qualifier earnt 3 championship points
- championship points were awarded 3-2-1 to the top three finishers

From Lakeside onwards in 1994:
- the finishing order no longer determined starting positions for Heat 1
- the 3 championship points for the fastest qualifier were scrapped
- 1 championship point was awarded to a driver for each car they passed during the race (but I'm not sure if this only applied to the top 3 finishers)

For 1995:
- the top 10 cars started the dash
- the dashes began with a standing start
- passing points were definitely awarded to all starters

Hence why Dick and JB started from the front row of Heat 1 at Sandown in '95, and not Jim and Tomas.

By 1995 the Dash was generally shown only on Sportsworld and not the telecasts.
