Hi all,

I'd like to say that the "A9X GMH" number plates were a Sensational finishing touch to the A9X.
I must say I was hoping that the L34 had "L34 GMH" plates, But maybe they could be made for the people who would like to put them on their Chrome Yellow L34's and include them on the Barbados Green version.
In my opinion personalised plates that say something about what the car is, is a great idea, as people who see them in your collection can see that it is a special variant of the marque, and it is just a great finishing touch.
plates that I would like to see would be :

GTR XU1
COUPE
XB GT
XW 351 or XW GTHO
XY 351 or GT 351 or XY GTHO
COBRA
HK GTS or HK 327
HT GTS or HT 350
HG GTS or HG 350 etc,
as long as it explains something of the vehicle's pedigree.

Let me know what you think ?

Cheers, Jason

I really like this idea as i have the two door and four door (blue/red) and would love to be able to relate to the road cars the models were modelled from. (Really authentic)

I think this has been said before in another thread, the problem is that people own the real number plates, like the "A9X-GMH" plate "I might be wrong" is on the real a9x that someone at Biante own.
So you see, the others plates are on real cars, so they cant put them on the models without the owners permission.

Jason they do look good, and i like the a9x with the plates.

Cheers

Rather than State or Personalised plates how about descriptive plates such as that attached to the "Monaco Maroon GTS HT Monaro".

This simply said "Monaro GTS".

Like what the car manufacturers do when the cars are photographed for magazines and stuff.

Thats a good idea

A few years ago I picked up some 1:43 number plate decals - it comprised of several large sheets with various coloured frames and numerous letters and numbers.

One of my collecting themes is models of cars I have owned. The decals have allowed me to replicate the number plates I had on my 1:1 cars on my models which I think is really cool.

Perhaps Pattos Place could prepare something similar if there was enough interest.

I wouldn't mind doing it when some of the car's I've owned are released.

I also wouldn't wind getting a Snow White XE Fairmont Ghia & putting the numbers that me dad had on his.

Why ??? well because someone wanted it more than him & on a trip to Nth Melbourne it was stolen, never to be seen again.

cheers. :)

I can't see the problem here if the state is left off. I can go down and purchase any number plate in any colour to bolt onto any car I want, and don't have to consult with anybody who may have the legit version on their car... http://home.austarnet.com.au/rowdy45/default.html

I think all of the models should have 6 digit number plates

the cop car had WA plates which look great, but as for decals for custom plates, i have this thing on my computer desk that makes any plate, any colour, any style. its a printer, just make up the plate you want, print it out cut it out and stick it to the plates on the car (or it theres no plates, stick it to a piece of card) you can even stick tape over it to get a gloss over it.

What donk did your dad have in his? Was it a 1984 model?

I know it's not the car that I own, as I bought it as a demo model from Syer Ford back in 1984. Mine had a naturally aspirated six, and still has factory painted bumpers, side protectors and mudflaps. The panel between the tail lights is still black though. Plus I added the rubber spoilerette, painted, of course.

And I'll have to check the book, but I'm sure the colour was 'Sno White'. With Snow Flake mags. Spelling changed to avoid copywrite of the girl with a similar name, I am guessing.

And if a Sno White XE Ghia comes out in 1:18, I doubt it, because the bonnet is different to the standard Falcon/Fairmont model, I will buy one too.

Thanks goblues, at least we know you don't have it !!!:D

Dads car was an October 83 build with the EFi engine. However has car was a proving ground muel & becasue Ford has done some modification to the body shell it was re-birthed into a new body shell.

Not too sure about the actual paint code spelling, so you may very well be right.

It was pretty much stock apart from the Country Touring suspention, which made the car sit a little lower & looked great.

I fave a feeling that the bonnet on the Ghia's were unique to that model, remembering that it had driving lights on the inside of the bonnet making the area between the headlight a little narrower than the regular Falcon.

If Biante ever make an XE ESP Falcon I think I would take the time to paint one white for dad as it was (until he got his VX Supercharged Calais) his dream car.

cheers. :)

how can I make the plate and surround in 1/18??

use an editing program and print it off. as for the surround, either thin strips of card or plastic. the other alternative is to print the plate out in reverse, stick it to the printed side of a piece of aluminium (cut up coke can works) then with a blunt object like a ball point pen, trace over the plate so it embpsses the letters in the can, then just paint it up or re-print the plate the right way around and stick it to the aluminium (pressed down to get the embossing)

or if you can find it, use one of those lable makers with interchangeable discs (the embossing type) and find the right sized letters. so far i havent found the right size ones though

Well, I can now tell you for sure, according to the Ford produced Workshop Manual, in the listing of paint codes that the colour was spelt as Sno White.

And the Ghia bonnets are definitely different for the reason that you said. That's one reason that you can't just repaint a DJ '83 or '84.

Maybe it's a job for.............. vanpyremodels!!!! :D

And if I remember correctly, there were three variations of the snow flake mags. There are the Gold ESP mags, the polished grey/silver Ghia mags and an all grey snow flake mag, which may have come on the Fairmonts, or else the XF Fairmonts. Might have to dig out the workshop manual again.

if you want one done just send me some pics and I will quote it up for you.

In relation to the number plates, if you take a photo of your plate from 18 feet away you will have it in 1:18 scale. The other option is to send us a pic of the plate that you want from straight on and we can make it up as a waterslide decal. We could also change the lettering to suit whatever you want as well.

Ummmm..... I think you have forgotten to mention an important piece of information. Take photo from 5.4 metres (18 feet). Using what lens? A 600mm lens won't allow the whole plate fo fit in, whereas a 28mm wide angle, will include your own feet. :)

I am guessing a 50mm lens, as this is regarded as standard on 35mm film cameras, but some dudes might not be aware of this. If it's with a digital, at what zoom, or 'X' factor?

Or, I guess you could use your favorite image editor.

Happy snapping.
