admin,
Just read my newsletter regarding the historic tourer HT GTS 350 and was wondering if this model will be available through the model shops or is it just a release through biante.

The stores will also be getting them, but in limited numbers.
Check your store has placed their order.

Does anyone know if this Monaro is actually a race car competing in the Biante Championship? If yes, what is the history?

No its not an actual race car.
First the HT wasnt going to be ready for Harv's to drive, then we hired a HQ GTS and then the HQ model wasnt going to be ready.
Soooooooooooo..... with the main thing being to help out the AHTCC people, we made the HT model.

Will this model come with a brochure?

Also are there any standout bits and pieces on this model, besides the Biante Windscreen Decal and BIANTE number plate.

The photos of this model looks awesome and have already pre-ordered mine. So much for the Bathurst car rule - damn you biante ;)

Now I have to do a brochure.....damn you goldie...!! Yes we will do one..promise.
The car has 70's wheels and for some reason, just looks terrific including the box.
The best thing is the interest it has caused already looks like it will be the catalyst that gets the Historic races at Waneroo televised on Trackside!!
Now that was another real good reason for the model.

I broke my HSV only rule for this one, it looks so damn delicious!!!! And I agree goldie.... damn you Biante!! Just kidding. :D Should look good in the collection, don't know which cars to sit it with though, will have to go with the Monaco Maroon one I guess, doesn't go with the HSVs, or the V8 Supercars, or the few Bathurst cars I have, or the WRXs, or the rally cars, mmmmmmmmmm, what to do!!!

Yes I promised myself I was only going to buy models of real cars, oh well

Anyway from the look of this model, and from whats been said on other threads, this maybe as close as we get to Beechey's Monaro. Anyone got a spare set of Minilites?

I reckon it'll look great snuggled up to both the Maroon HT road car and the 1969 Bathurst HT of Bond/Roberts (which is hopefully not too far away). It would also be neat if this model came with a special COA...;)

Goggles - it's ashame it doesn't have the racing stripes off centre like Beechey's car and one wider than the other. Otherwise it looks very similar. Maybe BIANTE should have done the 3 in a circle instead of the square to make it look even more like the Beechey beast.

Also didn't the touring cars of that era race with white circle and the number inside? From the photos I have seen this has been the case.

No they didn't actually. We started it with our Cooper S at Oran Park meet in 68 when we were sponsored by a TV company and fronted up with the number in a white TV screen shaped backdrop. Passed scrutineering after a kafuffle, and then everyone did it.
Moff's Stang was probably one of the best known cars to have odd shaped backdrops.

Thanks for the info Admin. That would make sense because the photos I have seen are from 1969 or early 70's that have the white circle and number in it.

So it didn't actually matter how you display your race number on the side? Also are there any regulations now with how you display your number?

Also speaking of Cooper S (hmmm coopers - nice beer) any info regarding the Bathurst Winner from 66?

I'd also like to know if there are any regulations on how you display your number on the car. I am making my own V8 Supercar model and want to be a litlle different, but also legal if it were a real race car. Does anyone know?

This maybe slightly off the topic but could there be a Historic tourer HT GTS 350 in 1/64 and/or 1969 HDT team Monaros(Brock and Bond) and Norm Beechy 1970 ATCC Monaro in the not to distant future?

Just got the 69 winner and next to the Beechey coloured model it is looking SMICKO!!
I am wrapped with the older Meanmachines al in a row!
They look so good that any moment the flag will drop and then they are off, just waiting for the increadible sound of music.

I actually received mine before the Australian Air Express email that tells you it's been delivered!! It usually arrives a day after that email. I love the car, can't wait to get a cabinet and put it next to the Maroon one.

Oh Five

Well done Biante , another first class effort , really dose make the Moffat Mustang look sad when you see the effort put into the bonnet pins , interior and engine bay. Ordered the Colin Bond/ Tony Roberts Bathurst Monaro straight away this arvo , hope its as good.
Qiuck question admin , are there any plans to continue with biulding this 350 HT Monaro in real life so Harvey can race it or have they given up.
You just cant beat the atmosphere at the historics races , its like "racing" into a time machine.
Should see the Monaro next to the XW 64E GT of Moffat's , can't wait for the Charger from Biante.
Watch for the 5-7/9-03 Historic races at Eastern Creek when the group Nc cars come out to play as well as some of Braham's old style cars.
Dose anyone know how long its takes before Colllector Club points turn up after purchasing models, the pionts for the historic Monaro disappeared from my page.

Yes it is a great model, very nice looking car, love the wheels.

Your points should be added in your list historic, it disappears from the unshipped orders, and gos in the purchase history list.
I think it uses the Date from when you orded it when it gos into the list. mine was 20/5/03, so just double cheak it.

Cheers

Mike

Either do get in contact with your local state CAMS office to get all the rules or purchace the Cams rules Yearbook and spend the next 3 mnds tying to get a grip on their illogical rules and subrules:mad: like all of us in the racing circles have to do.

For those of you who missed this model you can always get in contact with a well known model dealer/shop in the Fremantle CBD in WA. They have one of these fine Monaro's for sale for the princley sum of...............wait for it........................$450.

Thats one way to triple your money in a few weeks.

Will this model become Biante's most sought after model? and will you need to take out a second mortgage to buy it???

Not much sense ,I am afraid.
they are already asking what this model might cost years from now.
Maybe we are all going to kick ourselfs in years to come thinking back at this price:D,like the orange Mclaren F1 first edition by UT
or a Anson Ferrari 328 in red, yellow or black

I will be so bold as to predict that the Beechey Monaro is not far off as the model of this car is very similar indeed to the histyrics model.
Look for an article in Unique Cars of this month and compare the carmodel to the pictuers.

Is the McLaren worth a bit is it FF? I used to have one when they first came out. I wasn't much into dicast then and used it for some parts on other cars. Hope that wasn't a bad move!!!:(

Sorry ,old chap, but yes they are very sought after indeed and hence the $$
The most sought after one is the twin wing with the actual air slatts in the wheel arch and not painted on ones after wards on the second edition, single wing.
This had something to do with the fact that the first edition model was a faithfull copy of Ron Dennis his car with evej the correct rego showing on it, much to the distress of this person? and was recalled to be modified.
this is what I have heard anyway.

When you say twin wing, do you mean a big black bi-plane wing? If so, DOH!!! DOH!!! DOH!!! DOH!!! Shoot me now DOH!!! And the car had black wheels from memory. And an orange seat?

Yes the seat is orange and the wheels are metalic charcoal.
Yes, maty, Yes , I hope you used the parts in a model you realy like:D
I for one for years did not care about this one untill one day I found out how much it would be to replace it:confused:

I don't want to know how much... (sigh).

I wasn't really a collector back then, so I had no idea that diecast cars were in fact something that'd go up in value. I think I got it from Sherrifs when they first came out. Wish I didn't do that now!! Oh well, I have a few now that are precious, including the Historic Tourer. This will be of value one day, I don't doubt that, so it won't be taken apart! And it looks sweet too.

One of my favs is a NSU TTS in orange (like the McLaren) and in value not worth a cracker, but as I did have one and did have a lot of fun in it ,it is a fav of me ,never mind the $.
My collection is for me not a share collection:)

Just checked em out on ebay, there's some pretty cool racing versions of the F1. I think I'll stick to my aussie cars for the moment though. Maybe I'll get some F1s again if there is nothing else to spend my money on soon!!
