View Full Version : I've got laid off this morning.

I've got laid off this morning. I was terminated with no prior warnings and effective immediately. The new manager explained that I was given no prior warning of the impending doom because I had "unrestricted access to sensitive data". Apparently, despite my perfect record, the management has thought that I would "overreact to normal business cycle" (i.e. downsizing). So, given the current state of recession of American economy, there won't be any Biante additions to my collection until Commodre VZ will hit the road. Anyway, I enjoyed your company, and if you have any questions regarding American-themed diecasts don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,
Sergey

Sorry to hear that, sounds to me hard to work out which hurts you more loosing your job or missing out buying the new Biante's when released. I know which one would affect me, and it wouldn't be work.

sorry to hear that berkut76. The techie industry is a bit slow down here as well...
maybe it's time for the high maintenance girlfriend to buy some models for you ;)

I know how you feel berkut76 i've been given notice & finish at end of June, i work for American company which was recently bought out by another American company who are downsizing all their operations
So i guess my model collecting will unfortunately take an unwanted rest till i get finances sorted out

What an intriguing and utterly unrealistic concept, goldie. I'm not going to discuss my personal life on a diecast board, but until my generous severance package runs out, I'm not going to break the news to her. Furthermore, I'm going to re-shuffle models, so she'll think that everything is normal.

Thanks for the laugh,
Sergey

Hey Berkut76 - don't take it the wrong way... I just read on another thread (see below) that you mentioned your girlfirend and not being able to buy as many cars as you would like...

Anyway, sorry if I offended you.

Thanks Glenn,
Australians might be the most hardcore dollectors I've ever seen. Most of the 6,000 - 8,000 pcs editions from Biante are getting sold out within months, and on top of that you've got money left to burn on Exotos. Simply unbelievable for such small country as Australia. Unfortunately, I've to plan my pruchases well in advance because I live in high cost of living area of the US and have a high maintenance girlfriend. On top of it all, I do an underpaid contract work as the economy still stinks, especially if you are a computer techie.

Good luck in getting a new job berkut. I too was laid off from a high profile Canadian/American Telco last year. Not much work going around either in the Industry.
