I seem to recall reading something (not sur eif it was a newsletter or what) that said this was due to be around mid-June, but have not heard anything since. I'd love to know as well. I'm very keen for these two.

What s the difference between the Moffat XC thats already released?Do they just add No 2?

The Moffat car that was already released (with pretty much the same paint job) was an XB. It seems they used XB's for the Touring Car series but used the XC's at Bathurst. So the 1-2 cars will be slightly different being the XC's.

These models will be released at Bathurst this year....25 years after the event.

Orders went out to the shops last Friday, so see your stockist if you want one. We will make this set to order only and orders close on June 23rd.

The cars are substantially different apart from being XC's.

We spent 2 days solid going thru the research and had invaluable help from John Blanden who owns car 2.

They will come with a unique certificate that we have had drawn exclusively for Biante by Stonie (famous Aussie motoring cartoonist) and signed by Allan and Colin. Truely a MUST for any Ford/Moffat/Aussie collector.

Moffat Falcons, a subject I know something about.

The car that has been released already as you rightly point out is an XB. It is fact the new car Moffat first ran at the Hang Ten 400 at Sandown and code-named “Project Phoenix. He came second to Brock after a puncture. He also took Prime Minister, Malcolm Fraser for a couple of hot laps it.

This car was after Moffat had won the 1976 Australian Touring Car Championship. He won it in two cars. One was the City Ford XB (red and gold) and the other was John Goss’s XB. Moffat used the Goss XB because his own car and transporter were distorted in a fire in Adelaide. Hence the code-name “Project Phoenix (he rose from the ashes).

Colin Bond joined the team in 1977 as a two-car team and they ran the XB. The cars changed their bodywork to XC at Sandown for the first of the enduro’s (The Rothmans 500). Moffat and Bond (dubbed “ The Dynamic Duo) came first and second in four out of seven sprint rounds, ford also won the Championship of Makes.

Of course then came the legend that was the Bathurst 1- 2. Last time I asked the twin set was due to be released around October this year and the certificate will be signed by Allan and Collin.

ADMIN, two questions;

1) How much will the set cost?

2) How many sets will be made? (I know that this may depend on orders, but what is there an actual figure?)

thanks

Does this mean we can pre - order from our local stockist?

Otherwise I will be sitting on this site an hour or two before hand and refreshing so I don't miss out!

Hey..we are talking about OCTOBER release here!!!

No need to panic yet.

It will be highlighted on the site at the beginning of September and for the snail mail collectors, Bev will send the order forms out in September...plenty of time.

This will probably be the release of the year for Ford fans, but there are lots of exciting goodies before then so relax!

Relax! Relax? Did he say R - E - L - A - X ???

So I order an R8 of a dealer. It never arrives. The dealer agrees to send an XE as a replacement when they come out. I managed to get an R8 at retail after most shops were sold out *phew*

So the XE is released (my fav Dickie car and one I saw in person) and I make sure that the shop guy is on it. It never arrives. Sold out everywhere. Had to fight the credit card company to get a refund. To get the XE cost me $320! *ouch*

Since then I never RELAX until I know my little bit of diecast, plastic and rubber is securely in the bag! :)

What sort of production numbers are we talking about Richard?

:p AAAAAAH the '77 Bathurst, being a Ford fan I love to see the clip of the 2 Falcons coming through the esses and down Conrod side by side.

Admin, it's interesting to read that you have been dealing with the current owner of the No2 car, I remember seeing a For Sale ad for this car way back in '79 or 80' (if memory serves) I think the asking price was $17000.

I've kicked myself ever since for not trying to buy it, but I'd just started my working life and that sort of money was way out of reach.

I wonder what it & the No1 car, currently in the Mt Panorama museum, would be worth today?

Wouldn't it be great if the organisers of this years Bathurst could get both cars together with Allan & Colin to do a few parade laps 25 year on. What a sight.

Anyway I've got a spot all ready for the 18th scale versions since the real things will always be a dream. :D

G'day Paul,
As far as I can remember the cars in the 1977 win both had vertical rear indicators. As for the XC Cobra in 1978 it had horizonatal ones. The reason for the change I don't know maybe he used the XB shell for Bathurst. If anybody can give me an answer I would like to here it. I hope the model reflects this in the end product.

Bring on the AV GTHO Phase V

Cheers Spud

You were right Spud. I just pulled out the video I had of the race and both cars have the vertical rear marker lenses. This must make both hard tops XB with XC front ends. Did they have the XB or XC dashes in them?? One thing I did notice was that Bonds No 2 car had a much darker tint on the headlight covers. And a big ditto to bringing on the phase 4 but not till my bank account recovers please. : )

See ya,
Paul.

Its a worry, there's nothing mentioned at the advanced orders section and there's only 5 days till the 23rd of June ?
I would prefer to purchase via Biante and not the local sharks.

As I currently live overseas, I have no really feasible option other than to buy from Biante so I do hope they are going to provide some mechanism for myself (and other people like me, such as some of my work colleagues) to buy them.

The wholesale orders from shops close on the 23rd, not orders through the site.

The website has placed an order exactly as all of the other Biante stockists have.

We will not be taking any orders until the model is in stock.

Don't worry, we will make sure everyone get plenty of notice so that they can have the funds in order ready for the big release later in the year.

Thanks for the tip, Richard.

However, I have a similar dilemma to bangkok bob.

Look at how quickly the Green XE sold out.

I know we are advised by email (newsletter) of up coming releases, and I think I even saw a day and time for internet ordering for one. But if that time is when I'm at work, and the model sells out in hours, I'm out of luck!

If I miss out on these, I'll be dirty!!!

Cheers, ET

I spoke to my dealer and I will be putting a deposit on one set in the near future to ensure I have one.

At least he knows I'm fair dinkum about getting one, as some people put their names on several dealer lists and only pick up one and leave the other shops holding the goods.

If the funds are a worry, would it be possible to start a lay-by now with your local dealer?

I know gateway models take "pre-orders".

I appreciate that this set is probably the most important Ford model we will do this year.

As a service to all.........We will put this set on "Advance Orders" 2 weeks prior to release.

As we have trouble with credit cards expiring etc on Advance Orders, we will debit the card ONCE only and if it bombs out, the order will be cancelled.

This is not being unfair...just make sure the card is current and has funds....no different to a shop. If your card doesnt work, sale is off and you leave the shop without it.

We will be so busy that week with almost 40 tonnes of models, we will not have time to resubmit...please understand.

Admin,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

That's what we needed. It's the buyer's responsibility to ensure they're ready when the time comes. I don't have a problem with your stipulations, and it gets me a real chance to secure probably THE most desirable Bathurst cars of all time!

Thanks again,

ET :D

G'day Mate,
Just a query about the Moffat twin car set. With the cars that are coming out in October do they have vertical rear indicators as raced in 1977 Bathurst and if so could you please explain why is it so. As far as I can remember XC's came out in horizontal indicators as in the XC range Coupes. As in the Moffat XC Cobra No. 1 and 25 Federation cars as well as Dick Johnson's XC as in his Lakeside car. I know that Allan Moffat raced the Ford car in the 1973 to 1979 in a number of colours and mixed colour schemes like the Brut 33 as well as Hybrids of XA, XB and XCs. If any one out there could help me with information concerning this era in Allan's career as to the car differences in this time frame it would greatly appreciated.

Cheers Spud.

Basically Spud, it was because they were XB body shells. There are PLENTY of differences between the two cars, but we have done heaps of research with the people who know...even down to Jacky Ickx swapping the driver seats before the first practise session!!
They will be right...don't worry.
