Seriously though, best ever experience was a lap around Calder in my brothers twin turbo 300ZX. Absolutly awesome. I cant thnk of words to describe the adrenalin, and the sheer... something-ness of the experience!

My best experience was 3 laps of Wanneroo in the Betta Electrical AU V8 supercar.......... the speed, noise and a FORD.....:D
By far and away my best experience was a day at Mallala Raceway with Formula U Drive driving a Formula Ford. Best day of my life!

Lost my you know what in the back of a Ford Escort:o
Next to that would have to be the Hot Laps in Jim Richards' GT3 Porsche around Barbagallo, earlier this year.
Absolutely Awesome!!!!!!
Cheers,
Timbo.
Mine would be a ride in the HRT passenger car around Eastern Creek with Jim Richards driving.

best experience in a road car, not race car experience
back in my younger silly days, did a flat out run (low level flying) from mount gambier, in the blown clubby, average speed on trip computer was 157km. should have had it higher but with the double dermit points weekend on, i sat on the speed limit from wagga to home.
even past a highway car whilst off the clock, he didnt even bother turning around.
the things you do when your young, thank god im still alive and now a lot wiser.

Done heaps more things but it's still the awesome thing, I was still on my P plates at the time !!!!!.
In the back of my Sandman van on several occaisions.

Well, on a motor vehicle, (motorbike) rather than in one.
Was asked by a copper, who's speedo only went up to 200 kph's, so he didn't really know how fast we were going, "Did you have that thing flat out?
My reply, was, "No, too dangerous"
Needless to say, he didn't appreciate my answer.

Only difference was that I was ON the 6000 rpm redline & he was 500 rpm OVER his redline of 5500!

Feeling like The Queen (not a queen, despite the photo in AMC..) driving back from a car show in the Cobra and having crowds cheering and waving to me for maybe 20km, from bridges and laybys. They were actually waiting for a load of bikers leaving the British GP but I did quite well as a distraction....high compression 351 at 5000rpm and lightly silenced pipes.
Having to drive a mates VL Walkinshaw all the way from Canberra to Sydney, because he lost his license on the way up for speeding.

well it is a toss up between 2 things .... the first:
Doing the run from Brisbane to Sydney in just over 7 hours. I had a 93 Charade that had some mild work done!! Would rev to just over 8000rpm and would go off the clock (180kph) just after changing to 4th!!! I had it on the dyno at one stage and it had a better power to weight ratio than my mates VR V8 ute. It was lowered 3" .... more like a gokart on steroids than a car!!!
Second:
Doing Sydney to Melbourne in a 65 convertible mustang in just over 6 hours. I sat on the limit to just after Canberra and then got bored as it was around 3am and no one on the road so I upped the anti (so to speak!!). Did the rest sitting on about 120mph. I must say that the 289 in those things is the sweetest motor. It was just cruising at that speed and had plent more in reserve if I needed it.

Being a passenger in my dads work colleagues Mark 1 Capri GT and having the rear wheels spinning at 120 mph on the way home from the local speedway track

Hmmm which one.
At night in a rally on a shire road near Young. 7km dead straight road and telling your driver you are going to start calling from half a km out as you had worked out we were covering 1km in less than 20 seconds and a T junction was coming up. He questioned why and all I told him was watch. He never questioned me again.
Daylight rally on the Western Distributer near Batemans Bay. RX2 13b. I was replacing the normal nav and at stage end the driver says he was scared in there. He asked why I had a silly grin and I told him I wanted to do it again. He mentioned it to my normal driver saying I was nuts. This was quicker than Young. So many more I could mention.
Finding out my old 1.6lt single cam Sprinter topped out at 215 around the Thunderdome. The brand new Walkie wasn't getting away. And that was before the twin cam.

me and 1 of my mates where slip streaming one another down a big long straight in the markham valley (papua new guinea) we both had 4cyl utes so we had them flat to the boards once we were drawn into the slipstream i was able to pass him then he came back and passed me we did this 3 times down the length of the straight my 1600 1Y toyota petrol had a slight edge over his diesel hence it took him a little longer to get past me lol. no radar no police ill never get that chance again...the markham valley and kassam pass would have to be my most memorable road.the valley is a series of long straights winding up what is presumed and old river bed miles wide its flat with hills either side once u reach the end it then climbs to over 5000 feet, where u can stop and look down at the road below, it consists of mainly 90 to almost 180 degree turns. you can stand at the top and it takes ages for any vehicles below to reach you. the road beyond undulates up and over hilly terrain with long sweeping bends single lane bridges and villages.. once there was a trible fight and they were on the road using bows and arrows at each other and they just parted and let me through (i wasnt stopping) i have a pic somewhere taken from the top of the kassam pass i will try to hunt it out oh and by the way we were only pulling around 155 kmh down the straight, i would have liked to have had my xu1 there. ps a long winded story i know

Sitting with my uncle in a Datsun 1600 rally car on the way to checkin for a rally that night. Trouble was we were running late and going through the black spur in Melbourne, mostly sideways to get there in time :D
We passed someone travelling the same way as us, thing was we were very sideways at 140km/h and they didnt know what do to.

The first time I got turn one at both Eastern creek and Phillip Island right on a Superbike ,sadly it didn't happen every lap but there is a great feeling , particularly at Eastern Creek when you just roll off , snick back a gear and roll on the throttle , as you nail the apex and get a little slide up on the way to the braking area for turn two . Eastern creek is a fun place with 170 plus horsepower and just one tyre to put it through.
Phillip Island is fantastic too , the slide ,catch, slide, catch exit from turn twelve down Gardner straight and into Doohan corner is the entry way to one of the finest pieces of Tarmac in the world just made to ride bikes on at silly speeds. AHHHH bliss

I did the K2 ride thing last year at Phillip Island with Rick Kelly taking me for a spin. That was awesome fun.
Few years back did some Nascar laps of the Thunderdome with the Jane boys. That was pretty wild too. Got me really thinking how much concentration is required to drive those things round in circles for hundreds of laps.
But the scariest ride I've had was at the wheel myself a long time ago. The country speedway I used to frequent would have a couple of mechanics races each meeting where the pit guys get to jump in the car and go racing. I finished last in the first race and as the next was reverse grid had a very nervous time being swamped by 20+ super sedans come the end of the first lap.
I'd like to think I could hold my own nowadays but back then was a bit afraid of the gas pedal.

hummm. back seat at the drive-in 1984. that would rank up there.
most recently, at baskerville being shown my last timed lap of 1.03.9 when my previous best was a 1.05.3 in a 80% standard R32 skyline.

Driving my Torrie out to York. Was the first time I really got her out on the open road, and although I stayed fairly close to the speed limit, had a great time.
Had to take it easy cause it was about a 40 degree day and she got a bit warm, but all in all I was really happy with how she drove.
Man I loved that car. Hopefully I'll get her back on the road and looking as good as she deserves one day.

1982...front seat of a sigma...cold winter's night. Ohh yeahhh.......
My first car: Hyundai excel 2 door twin cam..laugh if you want.
I have fond memories of that car. People use to tell me i look like i was poured into that thing because i'm a big bloke with broad shoulders but i actually found it quite roomy inside. When i see one on the road now i think " how did i fit into that thing".
Have owned a Ford Escape...bloody good car that, had not probs at all.
Currently own a VZ. Bought it new. Just shy of 11,500kms now and she's going good. Think i'll stick with Holden's now.

Ive been in the right place at the right time and its not who you are, its who you know.
Three memorable moments.
Passenger in a Proto-type Porsche Cayenne. 320kph down the autobahn and she still had more horses in it.
Passenger in the Solitude Grand Prix Hill Sprint Stuttgart (oldtimer event) in a Porsche 356A. Had the twin cam Carrera Motor which is one rare engine.
Passenger. Mclaren SLR. First car I was nearly sick in. Your body should not experence 0 to 100 in 4 seconds and then stop back to 0 in 3 seconds-ish. Repeat this 5 to 6 times in 2 minutes and see if you blood and adrenalin can keep up. I should of realized I wasnt getting takin on a nice Sunday Cruise.

Had many memorable times in cars. Hmmm, one that is race related is when Geoff Brabham took me on a few fast laps in an M5 (after having done a whole day driving an M3 on a BMW driving course and thinking I had learnt a lot), and finding out a "real" race driver know so much more haow to handle a car. The sound and handling of the M5 in the hands of Brabham was surreal.

My brothers mate taking me for a drive in his 2003 Porsche GT2, the acceleration of that thing was like nothing else I've ever been in. He also has a GT3, Ferrari F430 and up until recently he also had a Ferrari F360 Challenge Stradale. They were all very quick cars, but there was just something about the GT2 that i couldn't get enough of, shame he doesn't have it anymore.
On another occasion I went along with my brother and his mate in both the
Ferrari's, peoples reaction to seeing these two cars together on the road was like nothing else i've ever encounted.

Mine was all red (fast), it was three on the tree, first towards you and down, second away (to the dash) and up, third away and down. Reverse was towards you and up.
Flat out with the tappets bouncing was 80 mph (130kph). Handled like a potato sack on wheels, but had two bench seats and was heaps of fun. The best years of my driving was in that car, spent time with the mates and drove everywhere. I blew up the gear box twise, both times bought spares from the local wrecker and a new bearing kit and rebuilt the box for less than $30. Blew the 186 up and put a reco 202 in for $150. Drove it like an idiot, but when it broke I had to fix it, and was always cheap to fix. And easy to fix.

Mine was all red (fast), it was three on the tree, first towards you and down, second away (to the dash) and up, third away and down. Reverse was towards you and up.

Many a time in many locations in my holden panel vans EJ, HG, HJ Sandman and taking my HQ Statesman 253 trimatic off the clock 3am between Kalgoolie and Coolgardie , 3 mates in car could not believe it could go that fast this was back in 1974.and thinking back not very smart , the things you do when you are young.
