you know not much is happenning in the world when they run those 5 minute human interest stories during the evening news, but tonite they ran a story on an adelaide diecast model producer called southern models...a bit of a connected story to their V8 supercar coverage in a later story.
they interviewed rob thomson and discussed models ,collectors and their addictive hobby for the masses, if they were paying any attention.
they displayed some soon to be released models, but also a rough mould of what would be the bob jane camaro and a finished example of the bob jane mustang both in 1:18.
I dont know if this story has been previously aired in other states and cities but it was interesting and perhaps biante need equal airtime...all the same good to see our hobby getting a plug

Yes I have often wondered why Biante don't snag a few minute segment on Tens V8 Supercar coverages, you know when they do those little snippets on the merchandise available at the track, and what spectators are buying, they Ten have done stories on burgers and hotdogs and even shown fans getting models and other stuff signed but nothing (as far as I know) on the world of diecast in regards to what the televevision coverage is all about. I have detected some carefully written negative comments about tens broadcast here in the past and I have also wondered if this is the reason why ?

Personally this sms thing sounds like a paid story/advertisment ???
Considering the current levels of interest in the Biante product, perhaps they don't need to do this sort of advertising.
Considering the positioning of the various logo's on the races cars, you could possibly say that the greater public might recognise the Biante logo more than the CC one & hense why sms might have got such a story made ???
cheers. :)

Although I am more of a CC's collector, I am impartial to both brands but that comment, brchi17, seems a little out of whack. When was the last time a company paid for news coverage? And why do it on the news programme which rates third behind Nine and Seven nationally (Seven first and Nine second in one or two states)? Although Ten's format has more of a motorsport focus, from a marketing perspective it would be a poor choice.
Surely Ten, who try to keep a local focus, would have initiated this. It would have been initiated in the Ten Adelaide office (which I believe it was) and run primarily as a report on a local but nationally recognised model producer, purely for the Adelaide (and SA) viewing audience. It then would have been picked up by other Ten affiliates around the country, who had a choice to include it in their schedule.
As far as local model producing goes, I would say both companies are on a par and one does not need advertising any more than the other.

G'day Everton,
Have you ever heard of cash for comments or paid advertisments ???
Yes $$$ might not have changed hands & to be honest I don't really care. All i was posting was my opinion on the subject. Yes it may be wrong, yes you may not agree & that's fine as well.
I know when where I work want some media coverage, we contact the media, they come out & some times it costs us money. Hense where I was coming from.
cheers. :)

We have all heard of cheque book journalism. It does exist. And companies will do almost anything for profit.
I wouldn't be surprised if SMS paid to be on Ten's news. Why Ten? A couple of reasons. Ten's demographic is to the lower age bracket, which would be where most of the potential/existing collectors are. Ten's prices would be cheaper than the other two commercial networks. Ten is the current home of motorsport.
The cost of a news spot, as against a fully blown advertisement and it's 30 second spot cost, would be far less, and can be done virtually instantly and run for much more than 30 seconds.
Biante could do the same thing. I probably will happen one day. Does channel Ten exist in Perth?

who cares if it was paid or not, I don't see anyone complaining about the printed articles in car mags.
