From what I can read , The 1977 XB of DJ was the ex John French #4 XA coupe that was also raced in 1974 as a Sports Sedan.
There is a great topic in a Ford forum on the XA-XB-XC coupe's that raced with some very knowledgable people contributing.
Cannot find a picture of it on the net as yet.
I have pictures of it in my books though

The XA, XB, XC Coupe's i have covered here somewhere before.. but off the top of my head...

XA 3rd car to Moff for 74 became XB Brut 33 etc then fire in 76
XA Gibson became XB to Keogh/Allford destroyed Lakeside 77? ATCC round
XA French, became Sports Sedan, scapped in later years
XA Carter became XB to XC to Bruce Watt circa 79 became LPG car demo in 79 Sandown Hang Ten 400 meet

Back on subject :p Biante could do a Bruce Watt version as i think the LPG version was the first of its kind, although it was'nt allowed to race and i think they used Ray Allford's tradionally fuled version for the race... That's the way I seem to remember reading it....I have a photo (b/w) somewhere of the "RIO" sponsored machine & it was my understanding that CAMS had a bit of a dummy spit about touring cars being powered by LPG......Therefore the Ray AllFord car was used. I meant to contact 'Aust Muscle Car Mag' way back when as there was a letter about a Falcon on a dump in Victoria which was supposedly the Murray Carter XC.....But, as I was going to mention to them, that car ended up as the LPG doover, so MUCH more likely, in fitting with the description given, that it was in fact the Ex Bill Evans #69 (??? memory fade), XC that was lying in the Dump.....

With the already existing 1/64 mould for the VR/VS Commodore, why would Biante not produce models like the Holden Young Lions or the Skaife Network Q or Sega sponsored cars as they have produced some of them in 1/18?

And thanks for posting the link to the Hurricane story.

I had just been reading "inter's CC values" thread......out of their (current average value) "top ten", 8 of them are V8SC's; but the other two are both Holden Concept cars - the Hurricane in 1:18 would join them, I'm sure.

And glad to see that the 1:1 has been restored - might draw me down to Motoclassica [spelling?].

I wrote an article on Revolution Models for the next issue of Detail magazine.

They are pretty new, but the guy behind it has been designing cars for Trax and Models56. he wants to make 'niche' cars in resin through Revolution Models. he will sell to retailers, in fact he would prefer to do that. If any retailers PM me, i will pass on details.

I wont scoop the magazine... but they are selling a 1:43 Torana GTR-X right now and are days away from the 1:43 Hurricane. i will post a few shots on my blog but would prefer the magazine to come out with the article in full. Before i say anything more.

Was watching Classic Australian Touring Car races DVD and got thinking. If moulds could be "borrowed" maybe the following cars could be made in 1/18-

Improved Production.
Jim McKeown Mk 2 Lotus Cortina

Group C.
Peter Williamson Celica. Possibly the axe car as this is a well known car due to the footage shown constantly.

JPS BMW. Just a nice looking car.

Nissan Bluebird. Maybe the 1984 Bathurst pole car.

Goss Jag. The 1984 car involved in the startline shunt. Same reason as the Willo Celica.

There has been a 635CSi made (ATCC winner, can't remember which year - '84?) and the M3 is being done.

Doubt there would be enough demand for any of them though.

The car I mentioned above did well, you hardly ever see them on ebay, and if they are they're about $300.

I think they're a good livery, and would probably sell well to JR fans - perhaps a few less for Grice.

Dunno how much work it would require to turn the Grp A 635 to a Grp C one...

They had the Grp C one at the Bathurst museum, so there is a reference car still around.

It's only slated for 1:18 scale at the moment.

And yes it is not exactly the same as the version I was after (4-door v 2-door) but close enough.. The colour is supposed to be "gunmetal metallic" so while it looks dark in the image, maybe it will be brighter in the flesh?

Good to see another HQ GTS sedan, but yeh thats the gunmetal which is as it looks, a much darker grey, not the more common silver with the orange stripes which IMO looks better.

EH Premier
HT 350 GTS Monaro in Verdoro Green with gold stripes
HQ GTS 350 Monaro 2 door in Barbados green with black stripes
Brock 1980 VC Round Australia rally trial (probably Brock's greatest achievment)
Brock / Richards 1980 Bathurst winner VC
Brock / Richards 1981 Bathurst VC
HDT VH Group 3 in both red and white
VK Group A Group 3 (Formula blue with Momo Stars)
Brock / Moffat 1986 Bathurst VK
Harvey / Moffat Rothmans VL
VN Group A roadcar as well as the HRT and Brock Bathurst cars from the same mould
VN SV5000 in British racing green
HSV VP GTS and Senator 5000i
VP HRT, Mobil Racing, Coke, Winfi*ld V8 Supercars
VR / VS clubsport / GTS / Senator
VT series 1 GTS (series 2 was made)
VX SS (wasn't the police car out of this mould?)
VY SS in Hothouse green
VZ GTS / Clubsport
VE SSV sedan and sportwagon
VE GTS series etc.

Most of these moulds have been done by Biante, whether they still have them, I don't know? But it would be good to get a few new cars out there.

While on the topic of Aussies in NASCAR, how about a 1997/98 Jim Richards Japanese Suzuka Short Road Course or Motegi Oval NASCAR, at the Suzuka Race he had a Top 10 finish against some big NASCAR names !

Not a Block fan, but I don't think it'd happen. Hot Wheels have only announced that they're doing two Block HW cars, plus a Block R/C car (which actually looks kinda cool...) but no 1:18. I can't see HW making the Fiesta in 1:18. Likewise I can't see Block doing a deal with someone like Sunstar.

Minno

What are the two confirmed Block cars? The one out now and a re-color?

I'd actually like to see HW do WRC cars in 1/64 again.

The white re-colour, yeah. HW's WRC cars were kinda crap, but I'd buy them if they bought new ones out :laugh4:

Do Majorette still do WRC cars?

Minno
11-01-2012, 01:21 PM
Majorette still do WRC, and they did the RB6 recently, Finger Boy and Mark's versions.

You can find them on Fleabay, but I can't be bothered with buying them...$10 is too much to spend on something that probably is worth not more than a fraction of a tenner.

The fastest Walkinshaw ever - the XJ220S. Not a Jaguar - it's actually badged a TWR. In lime green please.

But given the terminal constipation that seems to have afflicted the model world, with little more than SunStars coming this way it seems, I've almost given up on any of the "Production Planned" or "Production Approved" models on my list, let alone anything that hasn't been announced. So many great cars that haven't been made.....

I'd believe so,

I think spark has made them in 1:43 Nick (lime green and a yellow from memory)

I wouldn't mind any form of XJ220 in 1:18 - If they can do the Mclaren F1, the Porsche 959 and the Ferrari F40, then they should do an XJ220!

Nick Short
05-02-2012, 02:39 PM
Yeah, Walkinshaw road car, in 1:18. I saw the 1:43 and was tempted but really hanker for a big one. At 370 km/h it may be faster than even most of TWR's race cars, I don't know. The yellow one used to make appearances round my way when I lived in the UK (TWR HQ was a few hundred metres from my house), but I preferred the green one. I've seen pics of blue, orange, black, red and silver ones, which may account for most, if not all, of them. 500kg lighter than the Jaguar XJ220, and 680bhp versus 542.

That'd be Maisto. From what I hear, it's a good model considering its 'budget' status. Of course, a high detail one would probably sell damn well too.

Yeah, Miasto did one as the others said (maybe a Bburago as well?) - I think your dad had a 1:12 or 1:8 yellow one from them as well.

I'm sure it's a decent budget model, but i'd love to see it done to a higher standard by AA, Kyosho or Minichamps. (something I should have said in my previous post:D)

But yes a high quality and detail XJ220 would be great:)

The Maistos were a bit plasticky and rattly and cheap - I'd happily have a standard XJ220 by Autoart but it seems unlikely to happen

The XJ200S is actually the only Walkinshaw-badged car I can think of - his other cars (road and race) were badged Jaguar or Holden or Nissan or Porsche etc. The only other one I can think of, the Walkinshaw R9R, became the JaguarSport XJR15 by the time it went on sale - another model I'm still waiting for in 1:18......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge the TCM Monaros have a standard bodyshape. Biante already have the wheels, race engine & interior from the TCM Camaro, Falcon, HT Monaro, so I think it's doable.

How about a 1:18 2011 #61 Bundaberg Red Racing Commodore, the #61 represents the year that Bundaberg was formed (1961), with the company celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011.
