Results from the Ford vs Holden (cars you can buy race).

CLASS D cars from the Aust GT Performance Championship.
BA GT 5.4ltr......17th outright....434 laps covered
VY GTS 5.7ltr....28th outright....336 laps covered
BA GT 5.4ltr......31st outright....232 laps covered

CLASS E cars from the Aust Production car Championship.
BA XR6T 4ltr....20th outright....427 laps covered
VX SS 5.7ltr.....26th outright....382 laps covered

While there were also 1 VX, 1 VY and 1 EF/EL Falcon in Class F(results below). This was the invitation class and these cars were Future Tourers ex Auscars updated (corect me if I am wrong) doing lap times of 2min 30sec and all 3 cars had 5ltr engines (when was the last time you saw a 5ltr VY).
This class of car also upgraded to very large brakes after the fall of Auscar racing which would also help to leave a production car way behind at a place like Bathurst.
I have run against a couple of these cars in the XW at the Phillip Island time trials a few years back and even with quite a bit more horsepower than them, at 1min 55secs I was 3 secs a lap behind their huge brakes and wide slicks.
No Doubt they have developed them further since then.

CLASS F cars. The invitation class
VX 5ltr.......10th outright....460 laps covered
VY 5ltr.......12th outright....451 laps covered
EF/EL 5ltr..19th outright....427 laps covered

All these 24hr statistics can be varified on the 24hr website as I am sure there will be some non believers out there as always.

Regards Mark.

I can't see how this is even an issue. The Monaro won fair and square. They are the best product. You can not get a better car. The fords have not got a hope...

If you don't belive me, I am more than willing to get in my 427 Monaro, with race trim, and come down and teach you a lesson...

Oh, wait....

I can't really have a 427 Monaro now can I....

It does not exist......

Oh.......;)

Mark, the Monaros won and WOW were they good. Unfortunately the only simularity between the 427`s and the Monaro you buy is the body shape. There are only 2 and you cant buy them. Very good marketing campaign though for GMH. Lotsa people will buy Monaros this week. They wont go as fast or handle as well or have Motec computer systems or 1/2 rollcage etc etc.
Those cars will hold their own any where in the world because they are very very good but, they only look like the car that you or me can buy.

Ford should build a Nations cup car for next year
BA GT or HO;) with a full house quad cam boss 5.4L,V8 Supercar bodykit and brakes and enter it in 24hour.

ITs nice to know who won the production class's and yes Ford did better then holden.
Ford should be involved in every major motorsport event and try to win it.

thats a lovely thought but it ford australia are having enuff trouible getting their FPR team up and winning. rumour is the new GT (GT40) might be a possibility for nations cup at some stage. ford do not have the resources that GM have, remember GM sells twice the cars world wide that ford does. i heard it mentioned on the tele on the weekend that ford WRC programme is not confirmed for next year.

one thing i would like to see however is more competetive cars ala lemans sports cars

Guys - don't forget nothing is stopping FORD from entering a car into Nations Cup or even the 24hr.

I was just saying to a friend yesterday Ford should build some beast of a car to compete with the Monaros next year. How exciting would the finish be if it were 2 Monaros and 2 BA Falcons fighting it out for the last 10 mins next year!!! My heart was pounding yesterday for the last bit of the race, I'd probably have a heart attack if there was a chance a Ford was going to take the chequered flag!!!

I thought you were only allowed to have 2 doors in Nations Cup...but could be wrong...

This is why Procar have approached Ford to enter the GT (GT40) due for release around October next year...If Ford Australia get their act together, there is no reason why we couldn't see the Ford GT40 run against the Monaro's next year...

PS The Monaro runs Strut front suspension and a stroked LS1 engine (the same block you buy on ANY road-going Monaro)...

Cheers

Leigh - not sure about the 2 door rule - but hey if Ford want to play - get off their A$$ and make a 2 door. Maybe they should look at something like an XC Cobra to get them back in the game...

The more the merrier. They were mentioning on the telecast that the Mosler may be entering the Nations Cup next year. That would be great to see run around some of our local tracks.
