Hi, I've recently been introduced to Biante's awesome Aussie model range, and have started collecting (and adding to my ever-lengthening wish-list!) As a Pom, I don't take sides on the Holden/Ford debate, and already have XY and XC Falcons, and VL Commodores, with more of both to come.
My question is: I've got the only XC Cobra to make it to the UK, and was hoping to find other Pommy Aussie V8 owners here. Where I live is the village where TWR developed and built the early VL SS Group A and I used to see it testing round here in the mid-80s. Since then I've only seen an EF XR8 and Commodore GTS. There must be more......

To the best of my knowledge there is a few hard tops in the UK.
They were actually imported by ford and sold back in the 70s. There is also a few XYs and XWs I think and maybe a Landau or 2.
How many of these cars are still alive is unknown but it would be interesting to find out. Maybe you should try and get a registry of Aussie cars living in the UK.
See ya,
Paul.

Hi Nick,
Very cool! What # is the Cobra?
I have met a guy that owned an XB GT coupe. He said that it was imported to the UK in the mid 70's with 2 others and a Landau. The story goes that they sat on the dock for a few years! He moved to Scotland and sold it up there.
There is also an XA Coupe in London that is being converted to a Mad Max clone. And least we not forget, the 'original' car from Mad Max is over there in Cars of the Stars.

Cobra is no. 257, with a 351 and modified many years ago with various Ford performance parts.
I've now heard of a very tatty Landau (not my cup of tea) here in the UK, and it is true that Ford Australia started marketing Falcons from at least the XT, but I don't know how many were actually sold. Certainly the XA was very widely publicised after the London Motor Show in '72, but again probably unsuccessfully. And of course, given the amount of rain we get, plus salt on the roads in winter, and you won't find many left anyway! Small numbers of Falcons are currently coming in via Tickford, and Holden are to import Monaros and utes soon, but it's still the older V8 "beasts" I'm trying to track down. I'll keep working on it....

If I remember correctly, in the very early 1980s Ford exported some LTD's to the UK. I wonder whats happened to them.
