After watching the "Champions of Motorsport" shows on Fox (again) on the weekend I cant help feeling that this is a very significant piece of Australian Motorsport history that deserver to be reproduced for collectors both here and overseas.

Yes I know it got rear ended on the line but the interest it created and the striking dennim 2SM (from memory) paint job would make for a great model from two legends of the sport at the highest level.

What do you think?

I know i would want one!

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching Champions of Motorsport. I have a picture attached from the National Motor Racing Museum.

should this model be made before or after the start line incident

I reckon it should be before, but maybe Biante should do a series of models that are after the accidents. Johnson's rock car, Johnson's through the trees, Brabham/Mosses startline car etc.

Action and Team Caliber have been making "AS RACED" Versions of Nascar winners for some time.

They look cool, with tyre marks, road grime and bent panels.

Actually the car next to it (the 86 Bathurst winner) should be made too sometime...

have seen a rally car airbrushed in dust & mud, made to look like it had been rallyin, even had windscreen wiper marks(clean, mud free)looked really awesome.

The Brabham/Moss Torana, there were actually 2 at Bathurst that year one was a "T" car, the race car finished up at a wreckers at ABCO Motor Wreckers in Brookvale on Sydney's Nthn Beaches

I have a photo of the "T" with an expiring motor near Forest Elbow i took that year if you're interested let me know:)

There are plenty more to be added before this collection comes to an end.

Back to the Torana___ There seems to be plenty of interest so do we want the model?

I'll be up for one if the model is made, I think that that era of cars, for me, will always be the classic as the cars weren't that far removed from real road cars and the body styles were very different. Also ANY Torana in road or racing guise looks hot!!

The straight versions of the cars have got to be the easiest and cheapest way to go. One mould fits all.

But to do as finished models, the amount of computer modelling that would be needed, to accurately reflect the finished condition, would be giving some dudes early baldness, I'm sure.

And my bank balance wouldn't be able to withstand too many bent replicas. I might have to start picking and choosing.

I don't think we will get the choice. All will be straight, I'll bet, except Dick's rock. That will probably be the only 'after' reproduction.
