View Full Version : Brochure's

Oh Five

just curious as to the history of the brochure's that "apparently" come with the models.
I've got a dozen or more models and the only brochure i have got is the Targa monaro, and yet i see quite a few on the "sold site" for $10 each!!!
Should these come with the models or do you have to request them for extra.
I hope some of you more seasoned collectors can help me out.

i have found that it seems to be upto the plase you get it from. some shops will place the brochure in the box when they get it or when it is purchased where others will not, but if you ask, they have usually got them behind the counter and will gladly give you one. other places put the brochures out for people to take one to look at it and read it to decide if they want to get the model. i have not yet come across anyone that charges extra for the brochure but id imagine thered be some money hungry people out there that would
also i believe there are some models that didnt even have a brochure such as the VT/VX touring cars (to my knowledge)

We give one brochure per car ordered to ALL shops, dealers etc with the exception of the current road cars and current V8 racing cars.
Everyone has been told (every delivery we remind them) that the brochures are part of the model and one is to be given to each purchaser.
Some are obviously not bothering.
When you get your model demand a brochure as well.

My model shop always gives me the brochure. Once he didn't, becuase he didn't realise that there were brochures for that model. Next time I went in, he passed one on to me. Bought a 33 brut not long ago from another dealer and had to ask for the brochure.
Remember to ask guys. They are great to have with the model. Good read for who ever inherits your collection. They will know where the car raced or history etc.

admin, can you please put a list of cars that came WITH a broshure in this thread? would be really grateful if you can do that, so everyone and myself can check our models off.

btw, i think $10 a broshure is a total rip off....... considering they were meant to be free with the purchase of the models. anyway.

How about, in the faqs section where all the cars released are listed, if the item description says either, 'with brochure' or 'without brochure'.

The without brochure is needed because there are times when a brochure is included but it is not mentioned in the faqs listing.

And, can someone tell me, does the Brock Targa 2003 come with a brochure? I know the 2002 does.

Thank you dudes.

Further to this topic, none of the recent issue DICK JOHNSON COLLECTION cars (specifically the 1983 Hardies Heroes XE Falcon and 1973 Zupps LJ Torana) had inclusive brochures, and all the other DJ cars in the past featured one of two versions of a similar appearance fold-out brochure.

The Brock and Moffat models have their own specific car brochure.

I haven't got too many brouchers. At first I just thought that some of the models didn't come with brouchers. Then when I tried to follow them up I was told that some of the staff from the place I buy my models had taken them or they never came in the first place.

Disappointed.

Classic Australian road car 1:18 scale models have individual brochures, ie the XW / XY / XA Falcons, LJ / LH / LX Toranas, and HT / HG Monaros.

There are no brochures pertaining to the modern-day road cars, specifically the HSV VT / VX Commodores.

Oh Five is correct ; almost all of the brochures have a prototype or actual model photographic face with a printed headline.
The Option 97 brochure is headlined "Option 97", whereas the earlier Cobra 1:18 release brochure reads "Snake Bite".
The blue and red A9X brochures read as "Ultra Blue A9X" and "Light My Fire" respectively.

F Fan :

Each classic Moffat and Brock release comes with its own specific brochure relating to that particular car, one exception being the 43D Bond Monaro and 44D Brock Monaro, each of which came with the same brochure ("The Fox Strikes") written and personally signed by ex-HDT Manager, Harry Firth.
Another exception is the 2002 and 2003 Targa Tasmania cars of Peter Brock, neither of which has a brochure.

Ooops !!

I don't actually have the Brock Targa cars and hadn't seen the 2002 car's brochure, so I guess I got caught out on that one.

My brochures are filed away in an envelope, as are my certificates. As for the latter, I have thought of framing the Moffat 1977 twin set item as I reckon the Stonie artwork and twin driver signatures make that particular certificate something special.

But if the cars come with dunny paper, that's ok with me. :)

I think the brochures add a nice touch, because there are some of us that don't know some of the basics of the cars that we buy.

The Brock and Moffat models have their own specific car brochure.

According to the CDROM, the only DJ cars to come with brochures were the Lakeside XC and the Sierra. These brochures, which are basically the same, (the lakeside brochure talks of the yet to be produced Sierra whereas the Sierra one couldn't, for obvious reasons) talk of DJ's career showing most of the cars in the DJ collection.

Note: The CDROM shows that both brochures are the same. But I actually have both brochures, and there is one or two paragraphs on the back page that are different. Hopefully, this error will be fixed on the next CDROM to be released.

And to those that haven't got the CDROM, I can highly recommend it, as it's a great resource for those collecting a lot of cars. Can't go wrong for around $6.00 There are still some floating around from last year.

The majority of the brochures, and not all cars come with brochures, are colour glossy single sheet pages about A5 (half an A4) in size with a picture on the front, with a few paragraphs of relevant info on the back.

If you go to ebay, you should be able to find a few cars listed that show a brochure.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3563142352&category=27157&rd=1

Click on the link above, and scroll down the page till you get to the pics. Supersize the second of the thumbnailed pics and you will see a brochure under the monaro is back sticker. (The auction has ended for this item.)

I found out that the 2003 targa didn't get a brochure. Although the 2002 Targa did have a brochure.

And for everyone's info, Traffic toys do not give out brochures, unless you ask, but www.raceplace.com.au, who are great people to deal with, not only give out the brochures without having to ask for them, but will go through a number of cars of the model you are after, until you are happy with it. Some cars come out with paint defects etc. This checking of cars by the buyer is for those that actually visit the shop. There is also a shop in Niddrie that's also a great place to deal. These places are all in Melbourne. Melbourne is in Victoria. :D

I'm streaching the memory on this one. www.raceplace.com.au still had some a month or so ago, at around $10.00 from memory, but I've seen them in Games World shops at other times and I think for about the $6.00 mark. I got my copy from the shop in Niddrie when I bought my Option 97. Somehow I only paid $5.00 for it, or maybe they took $1.00 off the price of the '97 and paid $6.00 for the CDROM.

If you have trouble getting one, let me know, and I'll pick one up for you and post it out at cost plus postage. I am assuming that I can still get the CDROMS.

I am hoping some of you dudes have some brochures that I am after that you no longer need. I am chasing the following brochures to complete the cars that I currently have.

XY Wild Voilet
Moffat XY 65E
Moffat XW 64E
Moffat XY 1D
LX SLR5000 A9X Ultra Blue
Nissan Skyline '92
Johnson Sierra

Sierra brochure on page four talks of the next to be released Sierra and details four cars of DJ's that have already been released. Not to be confused with the brochure that came with the Lakeside XC which talks of the to be released Lakeside.

You can get me on goblues@connexus.net.au

Hi all.
I just picked up my latest addition. The 2004 Targa Tasmania black Monaro in the Brock Collection.
My question(s). The certificate wasn't signed and there was no brochure.
Is this correct Admin? Why no brochure. I can understand that PB may not sign the certificate (ie 2002 VX Bathurst). Your comments would be appreciated.
thanks.

As you know, we painted and sign wrote the real car from the model, all in 3 weeks.
Peter was in Dhubai and so thats why he didnt sign the certificates.
As the car hadnt turned a wheel in its new livery, it was a bit hard to write anything about it...

I too have a number of models without the brochures and like most people wasn't aware whether particular models should have one or not , but by the time you find out which ones are missing it's too late ..
most shops you approach after the purchase in regards to where the brochure is claim ignorance . 'we didn't get any' or 'they don't come with one' even after you tell them they are listed on site & biante disc .
I have always wondered where these guys advertising them on Ebay were getting them from ?
No doubt the brochures that we all should have got !!!
and who wants to pay $10 from these bloody rip off merchants for something you have already paid for but failed to get ..
also if you have a large collection & quite a few are missing brochures, at $10 a pop could add up to a lot of money, money most people would prefer to spend on more models .

maybe the brochures need to be put into the box like the COAs are to stop shops not handing them out....

or something on the box listing that a brochure should be present..

perhaps even email biante with a code printed on the box and they send you the brochure afterwards and cut out the shop all together...

Hi all,

I have recently put all of my 40 plus Biante certificates & accompanying sales brochures in a dry mount photo album ( 1 brochure & cert. per page) & it really looks great.

However, I have found that I am missing the following brochures to complete my collection ;

XW Ford GTHO - Grecian Gold
XY Ford GTHO - Wild Violet
XY Ford GTHO - Moffat 65E
LH Torana L34 SLR5000 - Chrome Yellow
VL Walkinshaw Grp A SS - Panorama Silver
VX SS Commodore - Victorian Police SMART car

Perhaps some of my fellow collectors could help in obtaining these please. I have spare brochures, including ( LJ XU-1 "Mustard", XY GTHO "Yellow", "Johnson Collection" & "Monaro 1:43rd") if anyone is interested.

Please PM me if you can help & would be greatly appreciated.

I do not have a brochure on any of my 1:64 Holdens. I read before in this thread that current road cars and current V8 Supercars don't come with brochures. Fair enough but my calculations point out that quite a few of my models should have brochures...

HK Monaro GTS 327 (Picardy Red and Silver Mink)
HT Monaro GTS 327 (Monza Blue)
HG Monaro GTS 327 (Burnished Bronze)
LJ Torana GTR XU-1 Bathurst (Brock '72)
LJ Torana GTR XU-1 (Johnson Zupps)

XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II (Candy Apple Red)
XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III (Wild Violet)

Are my calculations correct?

The 2nd one has a Blood Orange BA XR8 on the cover & says Pocket Rockets "2" with various photos inside including Brock's 28C & other road & race car's
The 3rd one has Ritter's BA 00 car & inside has all the Dick Johnson cars XD & Xe's plus various other cars.

Your right, there are 3 brochures, and the new small folded brochure. So that makes 4.

perfect! My turn ...

I'm after the 1992 Godzilla Bathurst Skyline brouchure.

I payed $500 for the car (yeah I know, I didnt want to pay that much either) and find it didnt have the brouchure.

Ive asked Biante and thank them for having a quick look, but as expected they no longer have any, if they had any excess to begin with as its pretty much 1 per car to begin with

If anyone can find one please let me know! I dont feel right unless ive got all the parts to the car, which include brouchures!

Damn , I thought I was missing one , the one with the eightball on the front , I guess That's another one to add to the list of don't haves . :(

I suppose this could be Under the thread of "what cheeses you off" , Having bought models from retailers and NOT recieving the brochures , because they're probably too busy selling them on Ebay .

Due to you wishing to get one for the latest Brocky, Biante should still have some left. Give 'em a try.

The Biante CD ROM shows that ONLY the 4500 run Ultra White came with a brochure, even though this brochure shows a twin mirror in the pics. Actually, it's the left hand mirror that is shown, and that would only be on the twin mirror.

However, as Biante has left it up to the retailers to include the brochures with the cars, it is very likely that the 4500 run brochure was included with some of the 900 run single and twin mirrors.

So, in short, the Single Mirror, as well as the Twin Mirror, didn't officially come with a brochure. The CD ROM confirms this.

And for your info, Track White is actually a fault (typo) that wasn't picked up in time. The colour Track White never existed for Ford's XY's and the confusion came about when the printers, or whoever, changed the certificate from Track Red, to Track White, instead of Track Red to Ultra White.

Obviously streettuner has first dibs on it, but if he's managed to get one elsewhere could I put my hand up for the 28C brochure? I bought the 1:18 off Ebay a while back but of course the brochure was missing...

Or if anyone else can come to the party it would be appreciated! Cheers

Thanks for that Oh Five , the reason why I asked is that the other VR/VS HRT commodores had them and I just wanted to check , pity this one didn't because a bit of info with the model on how this reverse livery came about would have been good , but oh well .... anyhow thanks again .

A frient of mine has a printing business in western sydney and he also used to collect. He has now stopped collectin but still understand the value of certain cars? ( he has a twin mirror).

he had a customer come in and wanted to print some biante brochures ( the cobra , and the federation moffat and others).
they turned down the business and the guy was a little cross.

There could be a pile of brichures hitting ebay soon and they are not original.
The cost of doing these is under $2 each.
