On an other Forum there is this news of the fullfillment of one of the last public appearances that Barry Sheene was going to do and sadly could not.
He was invited to wave the chequered flag to the winner of the 2003 race.
His wife who was always beside her husband even in the early racing days, will fullfill the honours this year at the Melbourne GP, according to this article.
Very moving and a great gesture indeed to remember this Aussie.
I do remember and have pictures of this lady in the racingdays of old , one is with the wife of Jarno Saarinen
Barry was a guest rider in Yoegoslavia for the 50cc Kreidler team to wrench the tittle out of the Spanjard Angel Nieto, who deffinetly was not an Angel
Ahh the good olde times.

i read this in todays paper, and although not a great fan during Barry's bike days i like many other V8 fans grew to idolise him. the gesture of allowing stephany to wave the flag is truely heart warming and im sure Barry will be there with her when it comes to the last lap of the gp.

Is anybody here as old as I and remembers the 50cc Jamathi effort and also the Kreidler World champion Jan de Vries?
The rotary Van Veen OCR 1000 rotary Motorbike has a lot to do with this team.

Good to hear she is waving the flag

Seems that the majority of motorsport personalities stay involved with the sport after they pass away

Its great to see that they are still involved with the sport

That's a real nice gesture, he was a great bloke, who is still missed by all in the Industry.

I'm in the middle of reading Barry Sheene 1950 - 2003 The Biography by Stuart Barker, it's a great read, and if you don't have it, go out and get it now.
