This is just another rebox to use up all the unused stock laying around - just like the 1/43 sets. WHAT A SCAM.
admin
13-07-2002, 12:10 PM
Gee you are pretty cynical goxu1.
If thats the case, who made the individual 1:43rd Bathurst cars 1 and 2 and the individual Siemens cars 1 and 2 that were in the 4 car set?? Biante didn't!!

Picked a Farewell set up today, looks like the Bathurst Twinset.
Strange thing is it has the Farewell Series on the side of the box, does that mean we might see one for Peter Brock?

is there someone that can clear up the story with this set.
Are they previous models repacked or a new bunch been made?
As I don't know if I should get them or not

I agree, some insight as to what cars will be part of this set would be greatly appreciated.

are we going to see a Tander + tander/bargs twin set as well to celebrate garth's second in 2000 championship too? or a 2001 valvoline team set?
what about a shell DJR 2001 team set?
i loooove these team sets, bring 'em on!!!!!
BATHURSTFAN
13-07-2002, 06:49 PM
or there could be an Ingall farewell set - maybe:D
also is or will the Skaife/Longhurst 2001 Bathurst winner be available by itself in 1/43 scale?
HoldenMan
13-07-2002, 06:54 PM
Or what about a twin set to complete all twin sets!..
It could be called the "Twin set" farewell "Twin set"
Any thoughts on what cars u think should make up this set?
CHEERS :D

bathurstfan - 1:43 skaife/longhurst will not be redone individually, admin said that a while ago.
have to get the 4pack if you want it . :)
BATHURSTFAN
13-07-2002, 07:05 PM
thanks Kid, its a bit silly though.
So if you only want to collect Bathurst Winners in that scale you have to buy three other cars you don't want.

thats right bathurstfan. it's not nice i know. but oh well, what can you do. it's admin's decision.

Better than remaking the car again. I am one who dislikes these double ups. 2 models the same, diferent package and certificate.
thekid_600
13-07-2002, 09:33 PM
bathurstfan, i have heard that some collectors have split the set up to sell separately. never seen as ad, but looks like they got the idea from splitting the 2001 twin pack. hunt around, you may surprise yourself. :)

Why have these cars been repackaged, and where has Craig gone. Its was two years ago that he went over to the dark side.
If one of the cars is the 2000 bathurst car then we all know how many of them are still around in Sydney for under $100.00.
So is it just some new cardboard? It has been released very quietly though, maybe we would have been to critical if we had been told in advance.
Just asking the question

I was told by a person who is going to have some for sale that he has the new boxes and new certificates ready to go and all he has to do is take the cars out of the old boxes and put in the new.
I'll know more tomorrow.

XU1,
I hope thats not true.
Admin if it is I expect that you will be re-printing a revised certificate for the Bathurst 2000 (6666 - 1500 makes 5166) and the lowndes 2000 (8838 - 1500 makes 7338).
You know my address I look forward to them in the mail !!
Regards
Glenn
Yeah i agree glen but lets not jump to conclusions until we get a reply from Admin but if thats whats happening it SMELLS.

It looks/sounds to me that this set was made as a promoset for someone and not realy made to go in the mainstream issues.
Like the Poz cola Ferrari ;500 ex and the Jordan Qantas ;500ex
due to the number of clients holden have ,this one ,I suspect was made in a larger number
I am only guessing and do not profess to know!!

Some how that does not sound right , i know they are packed in foam outers just like the red box's. But I can't see anybody going to that level just to sell left over stock. Could you look at a buyer in the eyes and tell him they are geniune limited set?
Also second thing is the number on the certificate represents the total units made in that style not by the number of cars previously made, If it states 1500 Farewell Sets than that is the final number other wise it would require one certificate per car.

i would just like to say, that curently. im in a state of mind commonly described as "confused". what is actually going on.......? i mean, either tell us the whole story, or dont tell us at all..... bits and pieces of info will only lead to more questions, and in my case - confusion.....

from the latest newsletter
This is the first Craig Lowndes set of 'Farewell' cars from HRT. ....In the coming months we will be adding to the HRT cars that Craig drove between the years of 1994 and 2000.
How many Craig Lowndes "farewell cars" can there be ?
Does this mean there will be the same set in 1/43rd ?
Confused again

Glenn, I expected you to come to the point as always and I will answer as always, but please appreciate, and this answer is for all, that I start work at 6am and do have to eat and do other stuff as well as finding spare time to answer this column.
Now I will say all this once and hope that everyone who has "conrtibuted" to this thread will understand.
HRT released this set....not BIANTE!
Biante made NO more cars so HRT have used cars for a set of Lowndes cars and it is the first of several sets (1:18th for goxu1's benefit)
I have been asked for 6 more cars, which will also be in sets and also sold individually.
Our couple of hundred sets arrived Friday night (already to sell...we didnt have to box them or anything) and they are all sold out, so obviously there are people out there who havent got the cars.
The newsletter CLEARLY said they were the SAME models but packaged as a set.
If you have the cars already, why all this rubbish all day long...don't buy them. What are you collecting...cars or cardboard.
As far as the certificates, if someone loses theirs, do I have to run out and reprint them all with one less for the total build?? Come on, get real. If HRT chucked the originals away, get excited...there's less out there as individual models!!
I have read this all day and probably understand now why Robert Hill went mail order only and has no discussion forum!!
I hope that is not condescending...I just find it hard to tell you the facts and have everyone absorb and understand it!
Oh Five

Just asking questions, at no time did I say or think that you would have made more cars as there are enough at the HRT Homebush warehouse for $100.00.
HRT are doing this, thats what we wanted to hear.
Why? Iam still wondering, they hated him for leaving, now they are releasing models with his name on them.
I too start at 6am and I am still in the office 10pm, so I know
what its like.
Don't get me wrong I don't want to be a thorn in your side but I have always been the question asker. Its got me to where I am sorry.
Looking forward to many a pointed discussion.
Keep us informed, keep us happy, we will buy.
Oh by the way has the Hakkinen DTM set left Germany yet, you won't forget to tell me will you. I am holding off buying it in U.K or U.S I will wait for another week.
Cheers Glenn

Glenn,
We do keep you informed...by newsletter every Friday.
The Hakkinen twin set leaves on Friday night from Germany. Will be in next weeks newsletter!!
Thought you had got one from Canada already!!
If you read the thread by nkeefe you will understand why the terse comments sometimes.
I like people who ask questions but cannot stand people who sprout garbage from a base of total ignorance. Anyone who asks a sensible question will always get a sensible answer from me.
Thats supposed to be what the forum is for.
Are you a Hakkinen or DTM fan?? I have a 1:8th Hakkinen MP4/14 Minichamps promo model around somewhere. You can have it for $3000.00

After that explanation;another way uncle Tom shows his true Mettle. I for one rest my case
P.S. aussiecollector; I have(seen) this model and it is worth 3300
You as a wealthy company director surely would like to add this VERY scarse and sought after model to your already extensive collection and would not lower yourself with barganing.-
sorry for asking this !:D

Ferrari Fan,
First rule of Business, don't pay first price sighted.
And I thought I was making an offer to Biante not there northern correspondent.
And don't you ever be smart with me after what I saw you write in Canada. I did not like you before but now you have gone way down to the very bottom of the pile.
Anyone who promotes the sale of non licensed products to others and is seemingly proud of it is well, "I can not say here", go back to the TMS forum and see the message I left for you there.
What really got my back up is that in the TMS forum, you were proud of the fact that you could by imitation Minardi team wear. Good on you BERT you have sold out Mark Webber for a Cheap repo shirt.
Anybody that supports the sale of non licensed gear is taking dollars (much needed dollars away from a teams that needs them at the moment.
Do us all a favour and keep your keyboard shut.
Not very cheery Glenn

All,
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It seems like people collect cardboard packaging and not the cars?!?!
When I first saw that this package was being released on the forum I wondered what the?!??! But in the same thought, I wondered how "can" the cars be different to what has already been released? Does it really matter that these cars have been released again in different packaging? No I don't think so, it just gives those the chance who missed out to get this set. Yeah you can find them for $100 or so on the auction sites plus your $10 or $15 each for p&h so that's already $220 or $230 for the 2 cars if you can find them at the moment. THis way you get both in a limited "packaging" of 1500.
Yes the holden shop at Homebush may have them but not everyone lives in Sydney - thank god "too many people already".
It seems to me that if HRT can resell there old stock in a different package then good on them - seems like good marketing to me. At least they are moving the old stock out and maybe it is going to introduce new collectors to this hobby?
Everyone is quick to jump down the throat of BIANTE calling it a scam etc... It has been said before - if you have the cars great don't buy the set, if you don't have the cars then you can buy them both as a set otherwise go and find them separately somewhere else for maybe a cheaper price than the twin set.
Happy "model car" collecting,
Cameron
My lovely wife had reason to go to Toowoomba last week and happened to drop into the Holden dealer there. They said that the "Lowndes Fairwell Set" has JUST gone on sale. Anyway, she bought one for me for $260 which is good because I don't have either that are in the set and they go well with the 2000 Skaife car.
What I am saying is that maybe some people DON'T already have the Lowndes cars and to buy them like this would be cheaper than getting them separately.
