i have heard that the moffat/bond twin set has already been sold out, will there be any on the collectors club for sale, when they are "released"
Or do we "small time" collectors miss out again, and pay top dollar?:(

Oh Five, mate this was probably the biggest Biante concern of the year so far.. Admin said the model was 'sold out' as far as retail orders to their resellers was concerned.
They will be putting them up on the web-site after Bathurst this year??, ( Place Confirmation here Admin...)

Failing that, get in touch with your favourite local supplier and reserve a set.
I've already been e-mailing Gateway Models in Brisbane (Qld..) to find out what the go is.

Just in case: www.gatewaymodels.com.au

E-mail Ben and he will add you to their e-mail list.
They will put a notice on the site when the 1-2 set is ready for
pre-order!!
I've bought a number of Biante models off Gateway, as I'd missed out on the Biante allotment.. They are first class for service.
Gateway will also do COD or credit card orders..

Good luck!

Ed :)

oh five - if biante sells out, and if you have no luck with gateway, just try any Ford dealer. their spareparts department often sells models as well. some sell just 00MS and ex-FTR stuff, some sell every ford model.
hope this helps.

In a previous thread it has already been stated that Biante will have these cars on "Advance Order" several weeks before they go on sale in September. We have enough for normal demand plus a few.
A newsletter will be sent to advise when they are going on sale.
If you haven't subscribed to the newsletter, do it now.

Has anyone got any news articles or information about how the race finished like it did??? I have been looking for info everywhere - not just on this race at Bathurst but other years also. The only info I have is on the brochure for the Brock 77 model.

Thanks.

Goldie
Moffat's brakes on his car were failing towards the later stage of the race, which enabled Colin
Bond who was in second place to catch up to Moffat. Due to "TEAM ORDERS" the 1-2 form finish is the result.

Thanks Damian - how many laps did this go on for??? If it was more than say 5 laps why couldn't the other cars catch up and pass??? Was Bond blocking them???

What was the reaction of the Ford/Holden/Racing fans on that day???

Cheers.

Goldie,
From what I remember Moffat's brakes were
Pretty ordinary during the later session of the
race, but he pressed on. Moffat I think had a
lead over Bond of about or up to a minute.
About 2 laps fromn the end, Moffat had to nurse
his car to the finish line. During this time,
Bondy caught up to Moffat at about halfway through the last lap and was told to protect Moffat. This is why down conrod straight on the footage you
see them side by side.
To this day, Bond is still upset that he was told to play second fiddle to Moffat as his car was quite capable of passing Moffat and winning.
Anyone Please correct me if this is wrong.
Regards
Damian

Damian your right about Colin Bond not being happy about it.
I met Colin Bond at a function a couple of years ago and spoke to him regarding the 1,2 finish, and he said if he had his time over again he would have passed Moffat and won the race.

:D

Teams rules what a bummer !!

Spot on Westy,
I have the FORDS AT BATHURST video, and they interviewed Colin about that 1-2 finish.
He did make his point very clear about what he thought.
Regards
Damian.

P.S. Know wonder he looks old.

I thought it was "Only One Race Matters - Holden 25years" Bathurst video that Bond spoke about the race.

A book called Allan Moffat's Scrapbook came out in 1978 is a good one to find also. Great pics of his cars including the Mustang.

But most recent is the Australian Muscle Car mag as mentioned before.

I bought the Australian Muscle Car magazine today #3 though. A good read on the old cars.

If anyone could scan the article in from AMC #1 that would be great. I would like to read the article. Can send it to me via email.

Cheers.

Cameron,
for back issues ( #'s 1 & 2 ) of the Australian Muscle Car mag, you may wish to call Chevron Publishing Group on (02) 9476 3199 ....

That's how I got the 1st 2 issues... They were running low on issue #1, but may still have a few...

Also took out a subscription while I was there...

I saw the prototype pics of the 2 cars when I searched for moffat. I noticed that the Bond car does not have a passenger side mirror. Just wondering if the final model will have the mirror like the race car? (Can't tell if they have driver side mirrors from the pic - so they might not have the mirrors on yet?)
Also the 2 cars had "camel filters" written on the front bumper with the camels in between. Will these be on the models? After all a camel is only an animal that can spit a long way and go days without water ;)

Hi Goldie,
I don't know about the mirrors but,
the CAMEL FILTERS lettering isn't
allowed due to the tobacco issue, however,
Camel themselves are allowed.
They are on the MOFFAT COBRA model aswell.
