I just got a book entitled "Le Mans 1984:the Aussie assault".
Le man 1984 had the most Aussies at one time racing together.
The cars were-
#34-Brock/Perkins-Team Australia Porsche 956T
#11-Schuppan/Jones/3rd driver-Kremer Porsche 956T
#31-1st driver/Allan Grice/3rd driver-Porsche 956T
#17-1st driver/2nd driver/Rusty French-Kremer Porsche 956T
# -Neil Crag/2nd driver/3rd driver-Tiga C2
A series of "The Aussies-Le Mans 84" in several scales (1/18,1/43,1/64) wouldn't be a bad idea.

Seeing as I've only managed to get hold of 1 Porsche 956 in 1:18 it'd be great to see some more, and with an Aussie connection making it unusual and interesting! Minichamps already have the moulds for the 956L (the longtail, or Langheck), which is the form raced at high speed circuits like Le Mans, so it should be easy to just change the livery (and maybe the wheels, depending on what was used).

Here! Here! Minichamps have been promising them and I wish they would hurry up! I LOVE these cars.

For those who haven't got the book here is an online source for pictures of the Alan Grice and Rusty French cars.

We've been pestering Biante for several years now but I don't think you'll see these soon. There are more than 80 variations that Minichamps could make of the Porsche 956/962 just from LeMans during the 1980's and to date we've only seen a handful of liveries in 1:43 - the '82 - '85 winners and only 3 others with 2 more promised this year (even less in 1:18). As most of the Aussies recorded DNF's I'd expect these are a long way down the list of planned production.

I'm a 1/18 man and surely Verns '83 winner can't be that far away. It's been on their web site and in their catalogue for a while.

You're a 1/18 man, Wayno? It must be difficult to find shoes that fit.....
I too am waiting (very impatiently) for the big 956s, and a 962 would be nice as well! My dream is of one of the road-going 962s, but I suspect I'll have to get one of the race cars modified. I have a spare Andretti/Kenwood 956 that I will have to get resprayed Guards Red, and track down the correct 6 spoke wheels....

The hardest part is getting the seat on the Commodore far enough forward to reach the pedals.

That book on ebay should have a dust jacket with a pic of the red Bob Jane T-Marts car.

What about making the the three Commodores that won the team trophy at Spa 24hrs in 1986.

Refer to the book: Brock Moffat On the Road To Spa

Yes it should have a dust jacket, but the Bob Jane T-Marts car pictured is orange not red.

What shade of orange is it?:p

I believe there was another dust jacket released with this book with a different photo on the cover.

If you're going to make the Brock/Perkins job, will it be made minus the wheel it lost at one point?:D

Terrine, the book on Ebay is the right book, but like BATHURSTFAN says, it has a plastic sleeve cover with a picture of the Team Australia Brock/Perkins Porsche.
updated details of the Aussies that competed-
#34-Brock/Perkins-Team Australia Porsche 956T
Q-15, R-DNF (crashed by Perkins during the night)
#11-Schuppan/Jones/JP Jarier (France)-Kremer Porsche 956T
Q-7,R-6
#21-A de Cadenet (UK)/Allan Grice/C Craft (UK)- Rollei Porsche 956T
Q-31, R-DNF'd (with 3.5 hrs to go)
#17-T Needell (UK)/D Sutherland (UK)/Rusty French-Kremer Porsche 956T
Q-9, R-9
#70-G Spice/R Bellum/N R Crang (AUS)-Tiga Ford Cosworth (Class C2)
Q-34, R-DNF
A Biante series of these would be awesome.

If you're a do-it-yourself type, you can get a 956 kit from Tamiya in 1/20 or so. And Hobbyco used to have decal kits for the Brock/Perkins car.

There were also all the cars that ran at Sandown that year - anyone remember that?

Here's a picture of the Brock Porsche 956. I guess I'd describe it as Jagermeister orange (hopefully you know what I mean) :-

And another. You can get decals for this car from Patto place and add them to a repainted Quartzo model which can be picked up quite cheap on eBay (just make sure you get the longtail LeMans version not the short tail version).

The Quartzo models have a variety of wheel covers but the Brock car had black and gold BBS style covers during the race (not the spoked wheels as shown in this pre-race publicity pic), so this is probably the best Quartzo model to use for your conversion :-

Here are the reference numbers for the Vitesse models of the Aussie drivers in various Porsche 956 at LeMans in 1984 :-

'Bob Jane' #34 (Brock / Perkins) Ref 320
'Kenwood' #11 (Schuppan / Jones) Ref 313
'Dallas' #15 (Rusty French) Ref 315
'Rollei' #21 (Allan Grice) Ref 317

All of these came with the decals on a seperate sheet that you had to add yourself. If your buying a model that hasn't had the decals attached (ie still on the original sheet) bear in mind they will be 20 years old and may be cracked or discoloured.
