It seems that Colin McCrae may be back in a latest spec WRC Subaru for Rally GB later this year. McCrae was not very forthcoming when quizzed, but admitted there 'was something in the pipeline' before stressing there is no deal in place 'as yet'.
McCrae will be driving a Prodrive Ferrari 550 at LeMans, so his links with the team are there.
I would love to see this happen as the guy is a proven Rally winner and I feel the sport misses him.

Depends whether you think the sport is the fans or the officials :-)

While the rally was here last week I caught up with my friends and acquaintances, both local officials and those who travel around with the WRC in various official roles, and even when the subject came up none of them said they missed him.

Gossip and hearsay aside I have been starting special stages for Rally New Zealand for about 15 years now and I have personally encountered Colin enough times on and off the stages to form an opinion of him compared to the other gun drivers.

Carlos Sainz is a god.

Tommi Makinen was a star.

Marcus Gronholm is both a star and a really nice guy.

Colin was a good steerer with a rich daddy - and how many times have we heard "I crashed because my codriver called a pace note wrong" ?

YMMV.
