Tony,
I don't think they did, but you can check at
www.falcongt.com.au has a lot of adverts and brochures for all the XR-XB GT's
OR
www.falcongt.com has the option sheets for all the GT's/Falcons (i.e. the forms that you optioned-up the car you were ordering)

The awnser is NO, XB non GT ,came with steel wheels 5.5' J/J and GT came with crome steel12 slotters 6' J/J
The XC Cobra did come out with "GLOBE 'Bathurst?" from the dealer ,as far as I can remember.

Both XB GT sedan and Hardtop versions came standard with silver painted twelve slot steel rims with chrome 'GT' logo centre caps and trim rings. Optional wheels were mid-grey coloured five spoke alloys, not the Globe Bathurst versions.
Unlike the XA GT, there were no listed factory spoiler options for the XB GTs. Reason being, touring car homologation rules changed for the 1974 season so the factory didn't need to sell any cars with spoilers.

...it'd still be nice to get a model of a spoilered car! As so many were dealer optioned, or fitted aftermarket by owners. As I may have said before.......I want an XA GT hardtop with front and rear spoiler! I guess it's like an SLR5000 with drop tank etc - they look good even if they're not 100% original. And I'm sure the US market would snap up spoilered XB GT models now that the real thing seems to have taken off over there!

The XB GT was made available with the 15 x 7 Bathurst Globe as well, same as the XA was.

Yes and no ; Ford had stocks of the Globe wheels intended for the XA GTHO and to my understanding they were available to purchase for as long as the original supply lasted. They were never listed as an official option in any XA/XB sales literature and therefore you needed 'to be informed'. Sports Car World magazine tested an XA GT Hardtop with the 15" Globes in late 1972 and stated they were "now on open sale" at $45.00 each, but in their road test situation, the wheels were obtained directly from Globe Products.
Paull will probably set me straight on this one, but is it not correct that the XC Cobra Globes had a different outer rim profile to the original XA GTHO type, and again, the Cobra Globes did not feature as an 'official' factory option on other cars in the XC range ?

1) Globes were made by CSA (mark I & II) up until ''78. To prove this, all you need to do is to look at the casting dates on the back of the rims. These dates go from 1972 through to 1978 but not in consecutive years. That is, you will see 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1978. In other words, they were not left overs as such.
2) The mark I Bathurst Globe had the exact same profile as the mark II (mark II's were only fitted to the XC Cobras), however, the difference was the boss diametre. That is, the XY's, XA's and XB's had smaller boss diametres on the rear hub as compared to the XcCrear hubs. The mark III was still made by CSA Globe but these wheels ahd the raised lip (fitted to the XD). It is these wheels that Mr Mag has finally gotten CSA to re-manufacture after 4 years of trying.

Thanks for the clarification on the Globe castings Paul.
As for the alloy wheel companies, it seems to be an incestuous industry in South Australia ....a case of many mergers and acquisitions.
Globe Products was once an independent manufacturer but is now part of CSA Alloy Wheels, and renamed Globe Alloy Wheels. Delta Wheels and Mullins Wheels are also part of the one group, all confusingly based at 25 Cheviot Rd, Salisbury. Cheviot Wheels (not to be confused with the road of the same name) and ROH Wheels Australia are part of the same group (as was once the famous Aunger Alloy Wheels) located at 28 Sheffield St, Woodville North. The 'Aunger Carcraft Company' in Queensland - formed from 'Aunger Plastics' of South Australia - is now completely divorced from the alloy wheel market, but still carries that famous oval logo for it's range of car accessories.

Just a bit of info for your interest .
Globe , ROH & performance mag wheels used to be cast and centres drilled out at an adelaide company called SAGAR Industries in edwardstown . they were then sent off to their respective companies for machining etc.( worked there as a young lad for 3 years in the mid to late seventies)
They also made pots & pans etc for castalloy's , custom engine covers & parts for the motor industry , even jockey wheels for the trots amongst lots of other interesting stuff !
I remember the Bathurst mags for globe , bloody weighty compared to a lot of the other castings !!!
cheers
Jim..

Heck Paul, I thought 29 Sheffield Rd was the location of Mona Loudly's House of Fun, but then again maybe I'm just too pedantic.
Seriously though, it's good to hear of experiences like that of Jim's and Paul's reference to castings, all relevant to Aussie muscle car history.

please do not forget that the 1/18 scale blue/silver XB Coupe has been released a fair while ago.

I have just been given a picture of the best police traffic car in W.A.
it is a FORD XB GT 4 door ;
Born 12 -12 -74 , JG33 PG 61 085 K.
Was purchased by the Wanneroo shire as a traffic car, in orange/black blackouts with a light in the middle and cop stickers on the doors.
What a copcar model this would be and quiet easy to make as when the 4 door variant comes on the market, it will take nothing.
I know where the actual car is and who ownes it plus I do have the picture from the chap that actualy drove it as a job ,Cop Kev, the rev. :D
Top bloke, likes all the good stuff like me:)

Bert,
W.A.s local government district Shires did indeed do their own policing and I recall the hills zone of Mundaring also favoured the Falcon GT when state government vehicles were 351-optioned Falcon or Falcon 500 models.

It is smick !
And the car is arround very much from what I know.
These modern gadgets are mmm me I have all the rubbish to scan/post etc, but the operations/operator does not know how to do it, he whould be sacked, if it wasn't me!

Admin,
How about selling these parts loose that could be added by the collector at home ? Other producers make these parts available for customization. I have pulled parts from other cars to duplicate the mods to my XA GT replica. I added a rear spoiler from a Brut car along with the wheels and tires a shaker from a 70 Boss 302 and painted Black w/ silver black outs. to match my car. It turned out pretty well. But these parts available loose would have enabled me not to have to canibilize other cars to do this
.

It would be easy enough to do - just run "a few more" off at the end of production, but the difficulty is knowing how much is "a few more". I don't know what the demand would be other than you and me!
