View Full Version : Trax
I was just wondering why Trax models 1:24 models are so expensive, $175 or whatever. Are they better quality? I always thought biante/autoart were the best, if so why do trax charge so much?
Thanks for any help.

The Trax 1/24th scale cars are very good quality.
I would say they are at that price because there is just as much time and effort to produce a model in 1/24th as there is to produce a 1/18th scale car.
The detail is similar to the 1/18th scale cars.

I agree with Pedro. I just took the delivery of Leo Geoghehan's 1972 #2D Charger, and I was amazed by exceptionally high build quality as well as the quality of materials. While do I have some issues with TRAX "shortcuts" with regards to porper represenation of a racing model, the overall quality, in my view, could not be questioned. If you are into street models, TRAX "superscale" offerings definitely give Binate and CC models a run for their money.

TeamBrock50, I agree, Trax does have some good models. The only thing about the 1/24's is that against the 1/18's they look a little on the "small" side. Just look a little odd to me.
Sergey, this is the Biante Forum here. You can actually say "Biante" rather than "Binate". You can even say such no-no's as: Classic Carlectables, Trax, MiniChamps, Vitesse etc etc...:D
Just a thought.

I have a valid excuse for misspelling anything and everything recently. Right now, I'm doing an IT consulting gig, which involves re-writing manuals, which were previously written by someone in India. It's amazing that every word in these manuals is in English, but together they read as a foreign language. So, "Binate" or Biante, at least you knew what I was writing about
:D
As far as 1:24 v 1:18 scale is concerned, I prefer 1:24 because it offers the same level of detail in a smaller package than the best of 1:18. Unfortunately, race cars are in short, almost non-existant supply in 1:24. Recently released racing Chargers from TRAX are an exception.

Sergey, translated toy & model instructions can be utterly hilarious, so I can only imagine a whole manual!:D
I have no real preference for either of the 2 larger scales, I only collect 1/43 for me & 1/64 for Wife & kids. We did buy 2 1/18 V8 Supercars recently as Xmas presents for our 2 boys but got them very cheaply at $50-00 each. The boys will just have to keep them away from their little sister.:)

I received my trax catalogue today. They have some good stuff and the 1:43 cars are good prices too. Dont think i will but any 1:24 scale as i dont think they are worth $185.00 each.
Initially I was very impressed with the 1/24 Holdens eg FJ, Falcons and Monaro's but I was dissappointed with the Vitamin C Charger as I believe the wheels are a bit small in relation to the rest of the car. The same applies to the Monaro's but to a lesser degree. I also think Trax would be better concentrating on getting things like having more realistic headlights than windows that go up and down and gloveboxes that open.
Just my opinion.

Ken, I BUILT my entire Tamiya "Blazing Blazer" 4WD from scratch using the original Japanese instructions! Why? Because I bought the thing in Japan, along with 2 Futaba Aircraft controllers for me & Dave's Hilux. I had Dave's Hilux instructions too, but they don't have much in common except the chassis.
It helped that I was laid up with my exploded knee at the time, I had plenty of time to fill.:D
