Seems everybody read more into that press release last Friday than what was intended...

Procar have not died, what they have done is effectively hand the management of the 5 categories to each category...so for example (how I see it), Nations Cup will have a committee that decides the rules, eligibility, parity etc and ensure a minimum number of competitors turn up to each event, should eliminate much of the cost's and stop the in-fighting over parity issues.

The bottom line is that all races are on, including Sandown in two weeks...

i would not say they are out of the woods yet.
i may be cynical but if the series doesnt continue whats procars intillectual property worth and to continue they will want their money...only fair
lets hope they get a buyer

I will reserve my opinion on the health of this until I see the cars on the grid at Sandown. If the field is as thin as it was last time out I won't be going back.
The FIA are seriously looking at a GT class world championship. If this does go ahead the Bathurst 24 hr race would make an excellent Australian round.

PROCAR has been propped-up for ten years by the Palmer Group of companies...Ross Palmer found it to be unfeasible to continue propping-up the organisation when it was heading for self destruction through increasing category fees and (especially in NC) dissatisfaction...

I agree they are not out of the water yet, but by handing the running of each category to committees of people who make up the category, the dissatisfaction should go. This will also reduce costs...i.e. the committe will do what PROCAR used to be paid to do.

Additionally, Instead of PROCAR organising and running rounds (AVESCO are the only other category in the country that do this), the tracks will promote and run rounds...this is what the track's staff are employed to do...PROCAR (and AVESCO) were/are adding extra cost by duplicating this...

These cost reductions and giving the decision-making power to those that are effected by the decisions SHOULD (and I say that with much hope) ensure a better future for these categories than may have otherwise occured.

Cheers

What I forgot to add...

I agree with Wayno, if they can't get it together for Sandown, I think they will slowly dissappear...
