Sorry Wayno - beat you to it! Sure you won't mind.
Kasey Kahne on the pole for the third time! A remarkable start to a very promising career.
The Championship protagonists are as follows - Newman 7th, Earnhardt 10th, Gordon 16th, Johnson 19th, Busch 21st, and Kenseth 25th as usual.
Other notables include Wallace 9th, Stewart 11th and Harvick 24th.
A good run for Jeff Green in the famous #43 - he starts third. Hope a good result is in the offing.

Mate I am a big wrap for Kasey Kahne. I would love to see him get the win he so richly deserves this week-end. Kenseth must be getting sick of coming through from the rear but I suppose it works for him. The guy seems to be immensely lucky, but one day he's going to get caught in a wreck back there not of his own doing.
I've been a little disapointed with Newman so far this year. The car just doesn't seem to have the pace to put him right there. Maybe he can turn it around on Sunday.
Race isn't on Austar until 10:00 Monday morning meaning no live feed. Not happy as I finish about 01:00 on this shift and was expecting to watch the race. Hope you guys with Foxtel get a better deal!

Will try to watch it, as its my 32 b'day that day, might be a little tippys me thinks.
Thanks again for the heads up Goodwrench3 & wayno.
Cheers

I think you may have the Busch series race there and not the NEXTEL cup race. Have enough beers at your 32nd and you won't care anyway!
Oh yeah, happy birthday mate!

Wayno I think you'll find Ryan Newman had only gone to victory lane once this time last year, so don't worry too much.
As for Kenseth, he hasn't exactly set the world on fire recently and definately needs to qualify better.
One hell of a long way to go in this championshipo yet though.
Can't wait for the race - go Junior!!!

I will have to resist the forum Monday night as with no live feed I will have to watch the race when I come home from work. Agree mate, I can't wait!
Can't help but giggle every time I hear Kasey Kahnes' name as it rhymes with that of a certain erotic movie star! Poor guys getting called 'Chasey' in amongst my group of NASCAR mates already! :D

One two for the Hendrick cars yeah! Let's see the great unwashed throw cans at Gordon this week, gret result and thoroughly deserved.
Feel sorry for Labonte, but at least he managed fifth. Great result also for the Kodak car.
Wrong place at wrong time award has to go to Rusty!

Gordon deserved the win no doubt, pity about the fuel dramas in the end even if it did elevate the Goodwrench29.
Rusty just can't take a trick, but what the hell is going through Stewarts head?!!! Will get onto nascar.com now and check things out.

Another good race, chaps.
I've had to stay away from the forum as I missed Talladega last week (shame on me). I've got the tape so hopefully I can watch it this weekend, as the cup guys have another weekend off.
Pity I know who wins it now, though.
Cheers
Brad.
PS - As DW said, Stewart needs some time as a spectator!

Spot on about Stewart. I think the guy is an immense talent but is in need of a brain transplant. If he goes on like this then someone is going to fair dinkum punch him (justifiably) before the year is out!
Any takers on who it will be? :D

I'm a big Tony fan, his talent and charisma are not to be denied in this modern day world of political correctness.
But as you say Wayno, he needs a BIG kick up the arse. A week on the sidelines would give him some time to think - maybe. All he'd do then is more sprint-car races!!!
As for who's gonna smack him in the chops first, I don't suppose I'd get a lot of return on my money if I nominated one Rusty Wallace?!!!
Bring on Richmond! Although I do have a healthy interest in the Busch Series this year (Kentucky this weekend) - the 6 cup guys doing full scheduales is an interesting scenario. But thats for another thread perhaps.

Evidently Gibbs flew down to 'have a talk with him' but fat lot of good it seemed to do!

Good win by Truex in a dominant car at Gateway.
Had some good battles with Hornaday in one of Childress' Chevy's.
This now means the Earnhardt #8 teams lead both the Nextel Cup (Earnhardt) and the Busch series (Truex) - go you good thing!!!
