Admin this was posted on the TMS forum,

This week the Australian distributor of a well known 1:18 F1 model company (not hot wheels) sent out order forms to retailers detailing upcoming releases.
On the form was listed 1:18 Minardi (both Webber and Yoong). This doesn't absolutely guarantee production, it may mean that the distributor is 'testing the water'. However this is typical when the supplier knows there is a significant chance of production soon to be announced.

From memory 1:18 Minardis were announced earlier in the year, only to be cancelled. The imminent demise of Arrows means, that the relevant company only has the licence to produce 2 front running (Williams & McLaren)and 2 mid-field teams (Toyota & Sauber)for 2002 at this stage. From memory the same company did 7 teams in 1/18 in 1998.

Do you have a comment, and if it is you that they are referring to would it not be a good idea to canvass the forum / web clients as well.

Ok so who else would buy this car ? I'd have at least two , How many would we need to convince Minichamps to consider making it ?

They would need to get at least 10000 pre-orders just for the race cars I think, based on other teams cars released in the past.

The variations for this car would be:

Webber 2002 Race Car (5001) units
Yoong 2002 Race car (5001) units

Webber Presentation (2000) units
Yoong Presentation (2000) units

Webber First Points (2002) units

Webber Fan Club (Special Packaging) (2002) units

All of the above numbers are speculators (this is what I would issue if it was my decision)

And if they are lucky

Yoong First points Not likely this year
Webber First Win Still a possiblility with some luck

I have been shown the latest Biante order form and it lists both the Alex Yoong and Mark Webber cars in 1/18th scale . Are you guys testing the water to see how many orders you get or is there more to it than that .

I might be biassed but ....... How can you go wrong with marketing these models ?worldwide there are more than enough fans to see this model be a succes
More so as this is a particular goodlooking model !
At least the importer is having a go. And like the Toyota, which is a Prost ,you can use an older,already made mould and paint it up as a Minardi. even with a more modern frontwing if needed.
Same was done with the Ligiers which were bennetons but with a different colour and decals.
If it helps ,I have all 1/18 minichamp cars here and Trevor is more than welcome to inspect any time if this is a way of getting this underway or at the moment I can bring them over to the factory as they are all packed up in boxes,in boxes and I do not need them for a while.
Just had a look and even the Prost would be a consideration and so is the arrows and the sauber of last year or the year before.
a pity that the jordans are not on the reportoire as there old frontwing together with the prost would be close enough for me in the right coloursceme!
