Hi, I'm just wondering if someone could help me with info on this model?

I've had one sitting here unopened for a number of years and when I opened it today, I noticed that it didn't have "Dunlop" printed on the rear drivers side tyre. I did a quick search for picture on the net, but every one I've seen has "Dunlop" on all tyres.

Is this normal?

Thanks in advance :)

Marcus D....sounds like you have an extremely limited one off model.

I tried to take a photo of it but the box gets in the way... don't really want to undo the screws either.

I have just checked mine and they have Dunlop on them.

Do faults and flaws add any value to these models?

Either, you might have a rim/tyre on it of the '73 #1 (the one that got away, as it had to be pushed) model as they do not have any writting on them as they swapped to the Bridgestone brand ,or someone did a little burnout in the box !

Definitely no sign of the writing rubbing off onto the packaging. The tyre is also clean and shiny so it looks like it just never got printed.

Could it be that the tyre is on the rim about face.

Perhaps DUNLOP signage is on inside tyre wall. Or as others have suggested it was missed.:)

Whether or not a fault is worth anything probably depends on the ease of duplicating said fault.

Is a set of matching slicks without the writing easily available elsewhere? Can the writing be easily removed without damaging the tyre?

I am in NO WAY saying you did this, but be prepared for disbelief from the surrounding community... and a matching unwillingness to pay anything above market.

I know on the ford forums web site a guy got the Lowndes/Seton car and on one window the names are correct but on the other it says INGALL/AMBRROSE

There is a pic below and the thread below that.

So I must have the other half of the stuff up, my Ingall/Ambrose car has Seton/Lowndes on the rear N/s window.

i checked mine and it has dunlops on all four corners. the only problems i have with these toranas are the old style door hinges.
same problem with the xb falcons the doors sag and dont shut good.if it were 1 to 1 scale i would open the door and roll a floor jack under it and put a piece of wood between the door and jack
and jack the door up. that gets rid of the sag problem on a real car. i just havent found a 1/18 floor jack yet to try it on the models.:D

ok now I'm feeling stupid - I finally gave in and unscrewed it from the box. The Dunlop is on the inside of the tyre so it's simply an assembly problem. A quick fix now has Dunlop on all 4 corners.

Thanks for your help everyone and sorry for wasting your time.

By the way, what are these things worth now?

Depends who you ask mate...

Some people reckon they're worth upwards of $500...

Other people reckon they're worth the RRP ($180?)...

How did you 'quick fix' the wheel?

I have seen them from $300 - $400. This was one of my first models and would be low on the list if I had to sell the collection. I love it! Along with the 1973 (oh sooo close) Bathurst car.

I just have received my second 1/18 MINARDI with Jos the Bozz Verstappen.
It is the Brazil raintyre version and also the early ,non TRUST, edition.
What a model, sadly only 1500 collectors can have one.

Funny isn't it, there was a time when the brock #28c and #1 weren't much at all, when i went to sell mine i could barely give them away, in the end selling each for about $75.

Why would you want to part with a model like that, and give them away for such little money, surely you could have stored them in a cubboard ,if you did not want to look at them.
Sorry to express this ,but it does NOT make any sense, if you like carmodels, and bought these for yourself.
These 2 models are a masterpiece in my silly eye, and are very treasured, for sure.

Hey, each to their own, i decided i wasn't going to collect any brock cars so i desided to sell them to someone how actually want them, but at that time not many people did i had them advertised for 4 weeks before i even got a call.
