As a newcomer to all things model-wise (I started only because Biante had produced the XC Cobra) I've been looking at a few other Aussie manufacturers' sites, and can't find anyone to touch Biante for accuracy and quality. Some of the offerings are frankly laughable, even towards the top end of the money scale, and even the better ones are only "near enough", ie you can tell what they're supposed to be but the shape is a bit out, tyres too thick, decals a bit generalised, stance all wrong. Are there any other model makers in Oz who come close to Biante in overall quality? I don't collect V8 Supercars, if that makes any difference, so it'll be mainly road cars.

Nick. I've only been collecting for approx 4 years and collect nothing but Biante, at last count 38 1:18, mainly fords. I only started collecting these cars because of their excellent detail, correct proportions and presentation to accurately represent the true spirit and feeling of the real thing. In answer to your question, I think the whole team at Biante knock themselves out to bring these vehicles to us, and I believe are at this point absolutely unrivalled and unequaled in their representation of aussie classics.
By the way Nick, I was wondering if you may be able to help me with another matter, I've just recently purchased a 1983 Ford Sierra XR4i, fitted with Garrett turbo, and would like to find out more info re parts and information. Just a thought.
Bayden.

Sounds like a very interesting car! Is it a UK Sierra, as the XR4i wasn't turboed originally? Ford Germany produced an XR4Ti, which was far more powerful. I don't know much more about the car off the top of my head, but I think parts were fairly commonly available, as the body was mostly standard Sierra and the engine was also found in less modified form in other Fords. Things like the body kit are still about as far as I know. Definitely try searching the Net, ans there's a big XR owners' club in the UK, who can help with parts suppliers and info.

Yes Nick, it is a UK Sierra and is fitted with an aftermarket turbo. Also fitted with RS500 front nose panel and front bumper, goes like crazy. In fact it still sports a sticker on the rear quarter window from the Manchester Car Alarm Centre. I've also joined the XR Owners club and the bulletin board. Thanks, Bayden.

Nick
There are other model manufacturers in Australia, like you said, the quality is sometimes questionable, but go to the following link. Gateway models list just about all Australian models available.

Thanks! Funny you should mention Gateway, as I've just filled a gap in my collection by buying a Track Red XY from them - they were efficient and quick, and cheaper than anywhere else I checked. Good on ya guys! Having had a look at other specifically Aussie models, I think I'll stick with Biante stuff......
