Can't go past the XC Cobra I reckon. I do have a soft spot for Moffats Brut 33 and Project Pheonix XB's.

Why don't you list all of them, as effectively the cars are all the same (same body shells). It is the specific models that I believe make the difference;
XA Falcon coupe
XA Fairmont coupe
XA Superbird
XA GT coupe/RPO83
XB Falcon coupe
XB Falcon GS coupe
XB Continental coupe
XB Fairmont coupe
XB GT coupe
XB John Goss
P5 Landau
XC Falcon coupe
XC Falcon GS coupe
XC Fairmont coupe (and no, there was never any XC Fairmont GXL coupes, even though I had one!!)
XC Cobra
My pick is the XC Cobra closely followed by the P5 Landau. Any that I have missed?

Apologies to XB fans out there, but I hate the XB front end! It looks like a chinless wonder with its thin bumper bar set high up and tight into the receding nose. The XC had a man's bumper bar, and a decent chin spoiler as an option, on a solid square front end.
Wonder if there will ever be a model of number 4 on Paull's list? Not sure if I've ever mentioned it before....

I see my prayers have been partially answered, in that there is an XA GT hardtop in Wild Violet..........it's just it's only available in 1:64. So near and yet so far! 1:18, or even 1:43, and I'd be a very happy bunny.

Here Here FF..i love the look of the XB front end with a spoiler on it, i reckon it looks awesome...
(i ahve nightmares about getting rid of mine, a nice high gloss black with roll cage, spoiler front and rear, 11 inch rears, 9's on the front, fully worked 351, top loader, ) cruised to QLD and back in it when i was living in sydney, it hugged the CNR's like it was on railway tracks...gotta go get a tissue now......lol

Looks like we might have a face off here (ha ha, get the pun). Hang on, I have an XC Cobra in one corner and a '74 P5 Landau in the other corner, what do I do??????
Well, atleast nobody has the called the P5's front end ugly, yet!
One foot in each camp I suppose.

The Laundau, was that the one with concealed headlights, slightly strange looking C-pillars & viynl roof? I wouldn't say ugly, "different", maybe "strong personality" but not so much ugly. It did always remind of an old toy Chev Camaro I had as a child, though.:D

I was reading that the designers of the hardtop felt that the XB front was the ultimate design for it! I guess the XC was a bodge job from their point of view? However, as a Pom I'm entitled to hold views that are completely opposed to normal people, and to me the XB's proportions look odd. Like the XA though......:D

I also feel that the XB nose was not as well integrated as the XA or XC... it's the bumper and beaver panel that don't relate as well as they should. XBs look better when the front licence plate is mounted high on the front beaver panel.
Paull will vouch for me on this one... a really collectable XA/XB Hardtop (what's this Coupe business ??) would just have to be a Falcon 500 version kitted out with the 200ci six and 'three-on-the-tree' manual transmission. Can you still get skinny 6.50" crossply tyres for this beauty ?

Jeez, Graeme, that's about as exciting as a 161 ci 3-speed HK Monaro!:D Or an Automatic 70 ci HB Torana. No, at least it handled.:)

For those of you interested in the XB Falcon 500 Hardtop 'John Goss Special', take a look at this website :
www.johngossspecial.com
As for other Ford Australia Hardtops, here's my memory's list of all production versions produced :
XM / XP :
Falcon Deluxe
Futura
XA :
Falcon 500
Fairmont
GT
Superbird (Limited Edition)
XB :
Falcon 500
Fairmont
GT
John Goss Special (Limited Edition)
XC :
Falcon GS
Fairmont
Cobra (Limited Edition)
...and, as Paull suggests, it's appropriate to include the Landau bearing in mind it was based on the Hardtop bodyshell.
The 'GS Pack' was an optional package of sports dress-up items that could be specified with any of the regular XA/XB models, except for the GT which already featured these options as standard equipment.

There is a oneoff Fairmont GT with the killer 250 c/i HC motor in it!
I know as I put the GT sticker on it myself :D colour Yellow Blaze,
(See you all in my rearview mirrors;)she will not spin the wheels in the wet, Best, cheap traction control, big wheels.
After 30 years faithfull service, and a little care, she drives STILL as a new one.
I would like to think that if FORD would use the same shape and more modern mechanical bits in it, but retain the shape, that these will be a huge seller, as long as they NOT do the VW beatle makeover balls up.
the same with the MINI! and in the USA the Daddo 240Z is a big (re)seller in that NISSAN do refurbish these, and the waiting period is looong.

Nick, you will have the traffic stop every time you deceide to start the beast up!
But even here in the land of OZ, and most people knowing what it is , if they have an interest in cars, they do look and comment and it outdoes most modern (expensive) cars in the gawk department.
So this could be an indication that, however far fetched this might be to the beancounters, it might be not to far fetched at all.
Same with the Valliant Chargers, jus the timeless shape that attracts people and the history/mistyque, due to the blandness of the modern motorcar.

Lets keep talking about trueblue Aussie cars that have the style and grunt, and have sensational women begging you for a ride;)

No-one has mentioned the most famous Falcon coupe of all -- Max's Interceptor !

The "FAT PIZZA" they are fat and they are cheasy" Shop would do better in the delivery department AND the ratings when they trade the Vall stooge mobile up to a icecool car, ultimatly this would be a XA GT Coupe :p

I like them all. I own an XB Farimont coupe but one day if I win the lotto or come up with some way to get rich my dream is to have an XA GT in wild violet, Landau, not fussy on colour, XB GT not red, a Gossy in the green and white and a Cobra. Call me a dreamer, call me greedy, but that's what I day dream about. I even know what sort of shed design I want to house them in.

Probably depends which day of the week you ask me, because I reckon you'd get a different answer each time!
Today I reckon it would be the XC Cobra, closely followed by the XB, but on reflection, the old XMs and XPs do look nice as well!
Tomorrow I might give a different response...;)

By planning and acting on your set out plans, you WILL achieve your dreams!
Happy planning and working towards them.
I have changes my mind on getting a XR-XT and now would like a CAPRI mkI from the 69-71 era.
I think they are more towards what I want and will look good next to the Mighty XB:)

no-ones mentioned my fave...the HQ Monaro...:p
just muckin, I would go the cobra, without a doubt.
Maybe cobra #209 hey Nick??
XB's look funny, XA's don't brake very well, so I've heard.
I've also got a quick quiz for all the Ford fans out there.
Why are the ford hardtops so popular???
Only half as many door handles to replace....:D
