View Full Version : Ciggy Ads a problem
Admin,
I understand that cigarette advertising isn't allowed even on models. Is this correct?
Is there a way around this so we could see some decent Marlboro Holden Dealer Team cars and even the Winfield Team cars?
I think they would look terrible if the livery was the same colour yet the actual words were missing.

Its no big deal us F1 Collectors have been doing conversions for years.
The only problems with the Aussie cars is that the cars are printed where as the F1 cars are water decals that are easy to remove.
If space for the decal is left on the car then I dont see it as a problem as long as some one here in OZ will make a decent decal for us to apply.
I am sure that the same guys that did the skyline winfield would be interested in doing any others. If not I will ask Marksman decals in the US to see if they can do them.
Don't fret, lets just see what cars get made and whether they can be converted.

Good idea Glenn,
Get the cars first, then worry about decals..

Yes - let's see what cars we will be able to get first. Does anyone know what cars will be made without the marlboro decals on them???
Also Marlboro is a city in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and in Vermont... so what's what the big deal?!?!?! ;)
cheers.

There was also the "CAMEL FILTERS" for the Moffat cars (including the yet to be released 77 twin set). I got them cut at a signwriters. They have all the original script and formats on CD from Europe and can reproduce just about any logo you need as long as it is big enough to cut. The full set for the Federation car ( bumper, bonnet and front guards ) cost about $15.00 from memory.

What about Exoto F1 models? When applicable, they come with tobacco advertising like Marlboro on 1990 Ferrari 641/2 and Lucky Strike on 1972 Lotus Ford Type 72D.
You can see for yourself at www.exoto.com So, are these particular models unavailable or banned in Aystralia?
Personally, I'll shy away from stickers becuase I don't know how'll they look on tampo printed model.

Sholand,
I apologise for not having the time to go back through every thread to see if this subject has been broached before.
Just waiting to see the MHDT and the Winfield commodores cars come back to life in their true livery and not one that looks like it's been sold off to a smaller team who haven't had the money for a complete repaint. (Remembering the Winfield commodores after they were sold to a smaller team)

The reason the cars don't run the major sponsor logos after being sold by the major teams is they are no longer sponsored. The smaller teams, once they have the car can do what ever they like to the paint job some choose to leave the base coat in order to cut down on costs.
Glenn
Collector,
Yes I realise this. Just remember how one of the Winfield commodores looked under a different team and it seemed sad. They appeared to have only changed a couple of the sponsorship stickers and that was that. I'm glad that it didn't go to the scrap pile or get demigrated to life on the roads. I know there are heaps of cars doing a second tour with different teams but most, finaces allowing, try to change the overall look of the car too.
