Why are Biante ignoring the 1/43 scale collectors?
All the good cars are coming out in 1/18. Surely everyone doesn't have the money and space to collect this scale of model. Are Biante just releasing things in the bigger scale first and then making them in 1/43 or do they not intend to make them in 1/43 at all?
As a Ford fan I would love to see Johnson XD/XEs, Aussie Sierra RS500s (Shell, Mobil, Caltex, B&H, ANZ etc), Moffat XW/XYs, Moffat Hardtops etc all in 1/43.
Anyone else feel the same? Sure a 1/18 collection looks great, but at $200 each and the amount of space they take up, it is not very practical...........:(

This was the reason my collection changed from 1:43 to 1:18 earlier this year.
I think there are plans to do just about all the cars in 1:43 (though no doubt I will be corrected if that is not the case).

We aren't ignoring our 1:43 collectors. Far from it actually.
There are big plans for 1:43 coming up in the future so keep an eye out, you'll be impressed.

Might be time to sell the 1/18s hey - depending on the big plans? Like land in the Real Estate business space is at a premium in my collection cabinet with all those 1/18s...

There must be BIG plans, becasue in 1/43 there really hasn't been much to get excited about.

About time I reckon, for us 1:18 collectors - well me anyway.
For my sake, hopefully the 1:18 production will slow down a little before we get totally inundated with new releases, and plunge towards poverty while obtaining them.

Why don't Biante do somthing different all together an produce a Few 1/12 scale Holden an Ford road and racing cars. They would be the centre peices of the collection and very impresive to look at. If Biante took the plundge and produced a limited number of various aussie Muscle cars in this scale they would sell very well. And if your listening Biante when are you going offer us some of our favorite cars in this scale? AND I KNOW U LISTEN TO WHAT THE COLECTORS WANT,SO COME DO SOMTHING DIFFERENT AND GIVE US SOME 1/12 MODELS!

They have made a fundamental mistake in ignoring this great scale. Imagine a 1/12 scale touring car in this scale and the detail the size it would be so impressive to look at. I have many 1/18 and 1/12 cars an i must say when people come to my house and see the collection of cars in my living room their eyes get fixated on the large 1/12 models. They comment on how real they look and i am sure their size is a factor in that. 1/12 is a step ahead in modeling terms because it generally allow a greater amount of detail i hope Biante catch on to this.

If people were to collect 1/12 scale models they would have to have a hell of a big cabinet as well as a huge amount of money to spend to be able to afford both .
I personally don't think the demand would be there in general terms for the manufacturer to make a success out of it because of the tooling costs as well as the production costs associated with introducing a product line of this scale .
If they were to produce even a limited run of this scale the end retail price would have to be enormous to be able to recoupe invested monies and profit which would simply be out of financial reach of the average collector .
Demand is the key to a successfull business venture and if the demand is not there it simply won't happen .
although I agree these models in this scale look absolutely breathtaking the affordability would only suit a minority of collectors .

Disagree, The more the better, 1/43 is nice for the crammy little rabithutches in Euroland ,I used to live in ,but here in sensational Aus, with space aplenty, the 1/18 scale is my choosing.
The slowing and speeding up of various scales is determined by the demand.
I "demand";) 1/18 scale, please & thank you

1/43 is the scale which most collectible models are made and the international standard. Whilst I have almost all of the 1/18 made by Biante I have a lot more 1/43 in my collection. Even on a farm & the most tolerant of wives, I'm still running out of room to display all of my models. FF, maybe that you like everything in a larger scale however most of us don't have the room to display the models. I like to display every model I own which is why I prefer 1/43.

Personally..
i wont buy them in that scale, maybe the odd 1 or 2, but simply they would be too big and too expensive for the majority of collectors..
i prefer 1/18 for only select collections and the rest in 1/43...
i dont they have made a mistake, here in Aus 1/18, 1/43, 1/64 is the go i reckon

When i say they should produce 1/12 models, just every now an then like autoart, kyosho etc of very popular cars. Like a championship car somthing with a lot of history.

As both castcrazy and roboneill said before the market probably wouldn't be able to support it at the moment.
There was a thread started by admin not that long back that tried to give some idea of how much it cost to produce a model (tooling etc).
I think basically if they were going to do it they would have to do it in serious numbers, so I don't think just doing the odd model here and there would be economically feasable (both for Biante & the collectors), as I don't think a relatively small market like Australia/New Zealand would be able to support another scale.
You only need to look at some of the other threads to see that a lot of people are struggling to keep up with the number of releases (especially in 1:18) at the moment.
To make it worthwhile Biante would need to sell serious numbers, but the price I imagine the models would come through at I believe would not support the number of sales required.
My 2 cents worth

well whats that Kyosho Aston Martin worth? 600 bucks?
I for one would be very interested in a 1:12 V8 Supercar holden... specially if its HRT... but the cost would be quite prohibitive....

Bring on more 1/43rd scale race cars.
If the standard of the 1/43rd VY Supercars is anything to go by the next installment of 43rd racers will be great.

Thing is, Richard, that 1/43 is lagging so far behind the other scales that it gets discouraging. I saw the DJ XD & E's in 1/64 the other day & you've done a fantastic job but I really want to stick to ONE scale & were I to start "filling in the holes" with mini-cars you'd then lose sales of 1/43's when they eventually come out, as the other thing I won't do is "double-up". Sorry, this really isn't meant as a whinge, call it constructive criticism, but the other problem is that when a 1/43 has got made - like the Brock Targa Monaro - it ends up $20-00 dearer than "standard" 1/43's, road OR race & that's just completely out of my budget. I can't see the justification for a 40% mark-up over other 1/43's either. After all, it's not like they have a signed certificate with them.:D

I couldn't agree more & I've seen Singer's collection. His wife MUST be understanding as there is literally "standing-room-only" in his lounge-room. I collect 1/43 for price, space & variety of brands & even in our 3-times extended house I need to build more shelves as I'm completely out of space now.

I must agree whole heartedly with the above.
Also its a pet hate when something special is announced and turns up in 1/18 & 1/64 but 1/43 seems to miss out.
Eg: 2003 & 2004 Brock Targa Tassie Monaros. Even the 2001 TT ute.

Admin did mention something a while ago about announcing a range of ATCC classic racers in 1:43rd scale. I'm pretty sure they were going to announce it in July.
Another point that shouldn't be forgotten is that with the upcoming releases of the 2004 Bathurst Brock cars, the 1:43rd set contains a Skaife/Kelly car that isn't available in the other scales so that is something exclusive to 1:43rds.
Personally I try to stick to 1:43rds but lately have bought quite a few 1:18ths as I just can't resist them.:)

I might have to forget both1:43 and 1:18 for a while after I won both of the 1:64 prototype auctions that Biante had listed.
I have all of the 1:64's released so far, so I might have to stick to them for a while until the bank balance recovers

The 1/43 Monaro was a special made mould as there was no Monaro 1/43 mould.
Tiss the same with all hobbies, just purchase what you want and can affort.
The problem with the BIANTE range is that they are so More'ish,
You want them all, I'll know that feeling ;)

Thought I might keep this thread going........:)
The following cars have been made by Biante in 1/18 and I for one would be very very interested in buying ALL of the following if they were to be made in 1/43………
(in order of them being released in 1/18)
Allan Moffat Bathurst winning XY Falcon GTHO No. 65E in Brambles Red
John Goss, XY Falcon GTHO No. 5 in Tru Blue as raced at Amaroo in 1972
Allan Moffat XW Falcon GTHO Bathurst car 1970 No. 64E
Dick Johnson XC Falcon Coupe as raced at Lakeside in 1979
Allan Moffat XC Falcon Cobra of Bathurst, 1978
Allan Moffat XB Falcon coupe of Bathurst, 1974
Allan Moffat XY GTHO Phase 3 Falcon of Bathurst, 1972
Allan Moffat Falcon XC Coupe "Federation Insurance" Bathurst 1979
Dick Johnson Falcon XE Sedan - "Greens Tuff" Bathurst 1984
Allan Moffat XB GT Coupe 1977 Autralian Touring Car Champion
Dick Johnson Ford Falcon XD "Tru-Blu" from Bathurst 1981
Allan Moffat XD Falcon 1980 Bathurst car
Dick Johnson Ford Sierra RS 500. 1989 Bathurt winner.
Moffat/Bond 1977 twin pack
Dick Johnson Ford XE Falcon. 1983 Bathurt 'Hardies Heroes' crash car.
Allan Moffat XB Falcon. 1975 Bathurst car
Moffat / Hansford / Niedzwiedz FORD SIERRA RS500 1988 BATHURST
John Goss and Kevin Bartlett. Ford XA GT Falcon. Pole position at the 1973 HARDIE-FERODO 1000. Car #5.
Peter Brock Ford Sierra RS 500. 1989 Bathurst
Dick JOHNSON / John FRENCH. XD Falcon#17. "TRU-BLU / KILLRUST" 1980 HARDIE-FERODO
1000.
Moffat/Hamilton Ford XW Falcon GTHO - 4th Place 1969 Bathurst
Bond / Jones Ford Sierra RS500 - 1988 Bathurst
Longhurst / Mezera Ford Sierra RS500 - 1988 Bathurst Winner
That’s 24 cars and there are obviously many more that haven’t been made in 1/18 that would also be great to have in 1/43 (espeacially some of the early V8Supercars, EB, EF and EL).
Anyone?

I would not be to worried, I am sure they will all come out sooner or later, but i am glad they do not all come out at the same time
but I can understand your frustration.
The only reason i started to collect the 1:18 was because they were not being manufactured in 1:43

Sounds great Richard. Looking forward to hearing more.
To follow up #1 XR8's extensive list, I'd also add:
90 Grice/Percy VL Bathurst winner
95 Brock/Mezera VR
96 Lowndes/Murphy Bathurst winner
97 Brock/Skaife VS
I'd buy all these in 1:43rd.

So does this mean that Biante will be releasing all the cars they've made exclusively in 1:18 in the smaller 1:43 scale ???
If this is the case I bet there will be a heap of people who'll more than a little bit interested in them - espically those who didn't know about the product from the very early days.
cheers. :)
