Just over a week ago, I had a chance to have a good look at the Sandman concept van outisde a Holden Merchandising Shop.

The overall shape is great and would be easy for Holden to "tool up" to make. Basically the ute but from the top of the windscreen back it's a new roofline.

I know it's a promo vehicle, but I wish they had done one without all the "shaggin wagon" padding in the back and definately without the overdone graphics on the exterior. The graphics actually made me a bit queezy.

I think we will see it in production in the near future. Does anyone have any info on what Holden plans are for this?

Brings back memories of my gold HJ Sandman I had.

A definate NO. And that was from Mike Simcoe himself.

The safety testing for the rear section was going to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars alone, and the time frame before the VY is too close.

Maybe next time.

I wouldnt mind a set of clear red Gen III engine covers like the Sandman had though!

i know ive posted this before but i think a 1:43 model of the sandman would look awsome. it would go nicely with my 'concept coupe' and my cross-8. i think it would be great if biante did a 1:43 concept collection with cars like the cross-8, VU sandman, GTR-X, Hurricane, and Maloo HRT edition with response R8 on the back. i think these would be awsone.

Does'nt all this bring back memories. I can't remember to much Sandmans around but what we did see were alot of Bedfords and Transit vans transformed into "Shagging Wagons" complete with plush interior, airbrushed exteriors usually a Woman Warrior with mountainous backgrounds, big fat tyres and exhausts out the sides. Oh they were the good old Days.
