We will be making 2 special Commodore racing models later this year. We are unable to go into detail about them yet From newsletter 26th, JULY.
I am having a guess, that these 2 cars will be Team Brock Bathurst cars 2002. After a quick read in a mag in the newsagents;
P.Brock / C.Baird
J.Brock / R.Nash
Could be driving at this years bathurst. Hope this happens and models are done.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I was reading this weeks MSN and saw the same story, the other thing I noticed is that Brocks Car on the cover has different AutoArt sponsor logos than those on the cars in the Biante showroom.
The other thing is the 1/64th car has Biante logos on the front and rear.
No big deal I suppose, I just thought I would point it out.

Very observant Aussiecollector.
The 1:64th's were locked away before Autoart took over the sponsorship for Team Brock at the second race of the year. The model was made from pictures taken the day before Adelaide and we left the model like that for the first run.
We switched to Autoart branding to widen all our brands exposure to the market.
Much the same as HRT ran Biante minicars logos at Wanneroo and Oran Park.
The big news for one car has been embargo'd until 11am EST Wednesday 14th.
It will be posted via newsletter at that time.
The other news will be revealed at a later date as we are restricted to make announcemnets only when the cars are unveiled.
Both announcements are huge and will be great for model collectors/race fans/motoring enthusiasts alike.

This could all relate to the yet to be announced but will be, return of Peter Brock at this years Bathhurst.

OOPS!! Wednesday 14th..my apologies.
I hope these rumors are'nt true about Peter Brock returning for Bathurst as even though I am a Ford man, I hold Peter in high regard as not only a great driver but a great ambassador to motor racing, and in the many interviews I have read with Peter, he has denied returning to the Mountain this year. So Peter for your own integrity PLEASE don't do an about face and race this year.By the way I am talking about the Bathurst Classic not the Bathurst Endurance with the Nation Cup Cars.
Regards
Dave from Kiwiland!!
WHATS NEXT GUYS, ALLAN MOFFAT AND CRAIG LOWNDES IN THE 00 GREEN-EYED MONSTER AT THIS YEARS BATHURST CLASSIC!!
I agree Brocky went out on a pretty high note, and it would be a shame to spoil that, but would driving again really spoil all of his achievements?
I for one think it has already, and would add a bit of interest to the race to a degree. I really don't think he would be amongst the slowest out there and I'm sure that he would only race if he felt up to the job 100%.
At the end of the day a person has to do what is right for them. Were I in his shoes and thought I was capable of giving it a "red hot go" as he used to say, then why wouldn't I. Would you want to look back after the event thinking "gee I think I could have done a good job today but I will never know".
Guys like John Cleland who are definitely not full time drivers anymore can come over to do Bathurst and do a reasonable job of it, and with Brocks experience I don't see why he is any different.
I'm not a big Brock fan, never have been, but I do admire the positive outlook he has and his belief in himself, not to mention some of the great things he has done over the years.
As far as I am concerned it will be a team decision and I'm sure Peter will try to do what is in the best interest for the team, and even if their is a little bit of greed in the decision to put himself in the car, then that's also fine as I'm sure there would be almost nobody here who wouldn't relish the chance to hop in one of those cars given half a chance.

The special commodores is very intriguing, is it not, one will be released and one held until it is launched, which commodore team is still to launch its cars in 2002. Or is it a new sponsor car, maybe a second car for Brock with full Biante or Auto Art Sponsorship like they do in other formula’s.
Does anybody have any clues as to what the two cars will be? Lets see how close we can get before Wednesday 14th at 11am Sydney Time.
Looking forward to all the guesses and possibilities.

I think it still points to team brock, as I heard they are not 100% if the second car will be ready for bathurst or the 500. Have I heard right?
From what I've heard Brocky might be coming back so he can secure more sponsership and help out son James.
Even if Brock does race he's most likely going to race with James

I reckon the later car would have to be a VY, launched at the same time as the real car. Like what happened with the Monaro.
the_goldie
10-08-2002, 02:55 PM
I think it's a Skaife/Richards HRT VX or VY with WINFIELD sponsors!!! :D
Maybe its another P.Brock with J.Brock Holden Commodore (with Marlboro sponsors) - another one to add next to the Targa Monrao.

i dont know where the original thread is but does it say what model commodore it is?
Heres my theory.........
Considering the Brock/mezera VR is due out soon but there hasnt been much talk of it lately, i think the news on wednesday could be its release or ever the ingall/perkins bathurst car. they already have the body mold.
as for the second commodore, since this news wont be revealed till later in the year, i think it could very possibly be an HRT VY promo car

Chups,
Admin stated in the last month in a thread that they chose not to continue with Perkins. This was in response to us asking about the possible production of Larrys older cars, ie the Bob Jane VL. But it is possible that this was a smoke screen to blow us off, but I doubt it, larrys cars are covered with CC logos, so I can not see Biante going there.
I hope it is the Perkins, but I am not geeting my hopes up.

I think the breaking news will be that Craig Lowndes has seen the error in his ways by changing to the dark side last year and wants to resume winning races again.
With sponsorship from Biante, they will reveal the 00 Motorsport Commodore in new red & grey livery. His mentor Peter Brock will not only be co-driving with Jamie at the Bathurst 1000 and also drive a Monaro in the Bathurst 24 HR, he will in between times pilot the 2nd 00 Motorsport car. The team will be overseen by Tom Walkinshaw who will welcome Craig back with open arms and create a 7 car TWR team.
Geoff Polites will give his full backing and be consoled that Craig has been replaced by Team Kiwi no. 2 driver Angus Fogg to the Ford ranks.
Obviously, I'm just having a laugh. I hope the announcement on Wednesday is worth waiting for.

Well I thought that I too might have a go at guessing what the release will be.
Rumour has it that Skaife & Bright will drive together in the Qld 500.
Their No. 1 HRT Commodore will have new livery for this one race. Biante will release the Qld 500 car with this new stunning one off paint job ( livery )
This could well be the first release. As for the second release yet to hear any convincing rumours.
I guess will we all have to wait until tomorrow to really know.

My 2 cents would be a Team Brock commodores with new Motorolla sponsorship.

i was thinking today, its obvious that the second car will be a VY touring cat of some type (HRT) but there was nothing to say the first big commodore news is a race car was there? i think it might be confirmation that it could be the GTS-R
i cant wait for that one.

Said it was a race commodore. Should be tommorrow we hear about one. Not long now, counting down the hours lol.

Well just a little sleep in, it's all there now :)
Car looks good, should look great in the flesh I think.
The link to NZ must be slow but congratulations to all those that guessed that it would be the Team Brock Bathurst car being driven by Peter Brock and Craig Baird. Will be good to see a Commodore with 05 on the side again.

So maybe the next BIG news will be a "Team Brock" Twin Pack of both Bathurst Cars? A VX and a VY?
Car looks great. Can't wait for the model!!! It says this is Peter's LAST Bathurst car, so what does this mean for the 1997 VS?
Maybe Dick Johnson will make a come back also???
Cheers.

Shame on you Peter Brock. If you new all along you were going to race at Bathurst why did'nt you say in all those articles "NO COMMENT", instead you have stooped to a politicians level and have done an about face. I held you as a man of high integrity but now you have dented my opinion of you, even though I am a Ford Man. Come on Drof, think for a change.
This sort of thing has been going on in sport and business since before Noah first rolled out the ark.
I don't think he lied to his fans, he just didn't want to say anything until it was all ready to be said. What is wrong with that?. What if he had come out and said "hey, I am driving at Bathurst" and then it didn't happen?.
I am sure Russell Ingall knows which brand and team he is going to but he hasn't said anything yet.
In all of the interviews I saw when Peter was asked this question about driving this year and the reply was always "a lot of things would have to fall into place". I never saw him say 'No Comment'.
Did the fact that he never said 'NO' make you think at all?. Obivously not.

I agree with GTS. There is way more to it than just a yes or no, i'd bet. Better to be 100% that all is right before giving an answer.
Anyway, I think it is great to see him back on the mountain, and wish him well.
Go brocky
If Mark Wicks wants a Brock/Baird Bathurst 2002 Team Brock 1/43 so do I.
That means there will now be 2 of them of 2000,right?

Way to go GTS
Drof
Sounds to me like you didn't have much of a high regard for Peter Brock at all.
If you believe everything put into to magazine and newspapers, you'd believe anything, or didn't you understand the comments he made.
GTS is correct in his comments
a lot of things would have to fall into place
Do you have any idea what is involved in driving in just one race? There's not only corporate considerations, but approval from governing bodies CAMS, AVESCO etc, the "product" has to be ready, logistics (Brock, Baird and the team have to be able to work in unison. There's a difference between owning the team and driving in it.), insurance and the list goes on.
In my opinion, Peter Brock's integrity was never in question. I'm probably biased as I have been a BIG BROCK fan for many years and had the privilege to meet and spend quite a bit of time with him over the 4 days I was at Bathurst last year, but WHEN did he LIE or say anything that might attack his integrity.
NEVER
As for Corporate HUSH HUSH, what crap. If your wife/girlfriend was pregnant, would tell everyone before it was confirmed. NO!
Once you were a man who knew what meant the most to you, and that was your fans
Brock's fans are loyal and many. Most of them would be elated he's going back to the mountain.
As for his reason's, well go to the TEAM BROCK website and read the story.
“This Bathurst race is very much a one-off arrangement for me, Brock stressed. “But the commercial realities of such an exercise will help consolidate the team’s future into 2003 and beyond. That’s what’s important.
Sounds like he's thinking of the team and the fans to me. Without the Team there are no fans, without the fans there is no team. What does anyone else think?
Shame on you Peter Brock
Take your head out of the big white cloud. The only shame is in your comments. There are two life forms at the level of politicians, politicians and idiots.
BROCK WINS BATHURST 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think its great that Brocky is once again going to be racing on the mountain. and i bet hes been practicing in secret for a fair while now so he will be very competitive. as for his 10th win, im not sure but anything can happen at bathurst.
although i must say that i dont fully agree with bricky coming back as i feel it is mainly to boost the teams image. would Aa of been the major sponser if it wasnt for Brocky driving???? i dont think so. but i think Brocky is one of the best, if not, the best driver in terms of being there for the fans and adding a bit of fun and jokes to a serious multi billion dollar bussiness.
Go Brocky.

Hope Autoart is Brockys good luck charm, he doesn't need it, but maybe the car. I don't want to see a technical problem happen to him.
Will we be seeing a James Brock Auto art Future tourer VS as a Biante/Auto art 1/18 in the Future?
There is a God and he drives the 05 Commodore. Great stuff.
Do you think the new Team Brock Bathurst car will have a Polariser fitted?
Will the 05 Commodore come complete with pensioner stickers and on board catheter bag, hearing aids, walking sticks and an angina spray bottle? Will Peter get his entry fee at pensioners rates?
What a front row for this years Bathurst, Peter Brock in a Works Daewoo, Allan Moffat in a Factory Backed Warrantied Daihatsu, and finally Dick Johnson in a Private Entried Kia.

DROF or should that be DNALIWIK MORF EVAD
Your brain is obviously implanted backwards, so you can't be a Polititian or your reply would have been NO COMMENT, so you must be an IDIOT.
You posted your opinions - fair enough. You got shot down in flames - to be expected, then it takes you 3 days to come up with a moronic reply. You must have one hell of a migrain from thinking so hard. Did you miss your enema treatment last week cause all you've done this week is dribble s**t!
On the IQ test recently shown on TV the KIWIS ended up BELOW the BLONDES. They are obviously your relatives cause not all KIWIS can be as pathetic as you, surely.
Your spelling is crap, as are your comments. Your intelligence shows in what you write.
What have you got against the EXPERIENCED drivers of Motor Sport. We all have our favourite Teams and Drivers and would all like to see the GREATS come back for one more race, but you don't even like the two great ford drivers, Moffat and Johnson. And you call yourself a Ford fan? What's wrong with you?
Don't bother trying to get your head out of the LONG WHITE CLOUD, try getting it out of your AR*E!
Why don't you crawl back in your hole for a few years and wait for your brain to develop or turn the right way before writing again.
And don't forget to have your enema this week or we'll all be floating in your s**t.
This is my first and probably last post.

i reckon that the next special commorde car will be the brock vs bathurst 97 car

I've been thinking hard about the second special Commodore and after my headache went away I came up with this:
Its been 30 years since Peter Brock won his first Bathurst and also could possibly be Larry Perkins last Bathurst and 20 years since he won his first Bathurst so this car could be the Brock-Perkins '82 Bathurst-winning Commodore.
I've just figured it out , all you people that were'nt to nice to me in my replies in this Thread are all HOLDEN people and think Peter Brock is your Leader. The reason there has been some nasty language used in this Thread is because you have all been brainwashed by your Cult Leader, Peter, and you are protecting him.
Once and for all can't you HOLDEN (and I'm using capitals for HOLDEN because I know all you supporters are a little bit slow and can't read properly) people understand what is going on here, it is good old fashioned sledging, the type you get on top of the Mountain or down your local pub, in simple terms again for you HOLDEN supporters it is FORD vs HOLDEN!!, Good vs Evil!!
I would be exactly the same if you were to write about Dicky in that way.
So a final bit of advice for you nasty Language people, before replying to Posts please suck a peace pipe and mellow out.
Finally it would be nice to move on from this so.................
To drof-i-etah, I am not sorry for comments about Peter Brock, but am sorry for comments directed at you from replies you made directed at me. Let's keep the rivalry going, Ford vs Holden but not Drof vs drof-etah-i!!

You're once again treading on thin ice. I hope drof-etah-I keeps to his word or this could all start over again.
Let it go
No offence drof but Peter Brock might be getting his cult leadership back at the moment but the current generation of holden fans have been brainwashed by HRT/TWR Aus and don't give a stuff about oher holden teams and Peter Brock is trying to lure Holden fans away from HRT/TWR Aus and they'll try anything to get back fans turning to Brock for Bathurst so all Holden fans out there DON'T cheer for HRT at the MOUNTAIN this year,GO FOR BROCK INSTEAD.
wacpt, what do you mean buy treading on thin ice, I'm holding out an olive branch here, and then you say this could start all over again, what could start. Just had a search for bathurst cars and found a sample of the 1:64 Brock 05 VX - looks pretty good. Can't wait to see the 1:43 and 1:18 versions.
Admin - is there a rough estimate when the VR Brock might arrive? December 2002 January 2003?
Thanks.
I hope this is made in decent numbers as I think it will be a huge seller seeing as its the first VR to be made in 1:18th as well as being a Brock car.

Not fueling the fire, just saying it was comments like this that started the arguments before.

The reason there has been some nasty language used in this Thread is because you have all been brainwashed by your Cult Leader, Peter, and you are protecting him.
There are a lot of diehard Brock fans out there that might take offence to this. I realised it was probably said in jest but they may not.
That's what I mean't by "THIN ICE"
keep smiling
Thats perfectly alright if people take offence to my comments about Brocky, as I've said before I would be the same if people talked that way about Dicky, but the main difference would be is, I would reply in defence of Dicky, not have a go personally at the person who wrote the comments. Lets defend our favourite Driver, but not attack the person making the comments as he has the right of opinion!!
If people can't handle a bit of friendly rivalary ,and that is all it is, then if you can't handle the heat, get out of the fire!!
