View Full Version : V8 supercar in Pommy land!!!!
The other day I saw this picture on the front of a cross words magazine and on it was an picture of a V8 supercar but no ordinary one because it had a big air scoop on it and I'd seen this picture before.....this sports sedan style V8 supercar had Wynns on the side and I remembered.
It was the Hossack/Pate 98 VS Bathurst car and I remembered a story about a pom who bought the car and took it home to Britan,he put "19" inc wheels on it and heaps more stuff to it.
Any comments Nick Short?

Wow! I have no idea about this car, but you can be sure I'll be trying to find out more. Thanks! I've been trying to get info about other Aussie motors over here, and found a few, but nothing like that. So far I've tracked down a Landau, XB GT sedan, XA GT sedan, XB Mad Max in progress (plus the real thing in Keswick), Brock Commodore (not sure which yet), EF XR8, GTS Commodore and an XB GT hardtop that was in Glasgow, of all places. There are supposedly several dozen Chargers as well, but I haven't tracked them down yet. A real Bathurst V8 Supercar would be something to see over here!
Just if anyones interested the find a word magazine with the V8 supercar from Britan is "Lovatts Findaword".
I also remember some facts about it in a Auto Action from 1999 so any one with a full collection of 1999 Auto Action Issues search through them and you'll find a story about a V8 supercar in Britan.

I worked for Wynn's for the last 16years & was involved with the race team, the car is Hossack/Pates, the guy who bought it originally had bought the other car which was destroyed in the monumental pile up at the top of the mountain, the car is raced in the UK in their Thundersports category, the guy who owns/drives the car has secured sponsorship from Wynn's in England therefore nothing much about the presentation has changed, apparently he's doing well with the car
Hoping this might shed some light on this for you
:)
Hopefully Mr Nick Short will go to a Thundersports race soon and see a V8 supercar for the FIRST TIME!!!!!!

Never miss the TV coverage (which over here is on Channel 5 at about 3am, and a week or two late), but otherwise haven't seen one in the flesh. Unless the car I saw in North Adelaide in 1994, with "BROCK" in the rear side window, seriously cambered front wheels, big tyres, full kit and paint job, was the real thing.
Will you be going to a tundersports meet soon and see the only V8 Supercer in Britan Nick Short?
Also in the Wheels or Motor mag round Sydney motor show time last year I saw some pics from TWR UK(close to were Nick Short is) devoloping the 350 kw VX2 HSV Maloo HRT special so look out for any interesting activites over at TWR Nick and tell us if you see anthing good.

It seems that Mr Walkinshaw is having a few difficulties at the moment, and TWR aren't answering my emails! Station Lane in Kidlington is where they developed the VL, and where they have their collection of cars, such as the Le Mans Jags, Rover and Holden Touring Cars, performance road cars, like the XJ220S and XJR15 etc. It's very hard to find out what they're at, but early mornings at the weekend is a good time to see cars being tested on the road. I've seen the VL back in about '86, "standard" XJ220, XJR15 (Tom's own road car), the Aston Martin DB7 (another of TWR's projects), Volvo 850R station wagon Touring Car etc, which when you realise Kidlington is a village, makes it quite exciting! So I'll keep my eyes peeled for noisy utes, and I need to find out where the Thundersports meetings are held.
