Basically, GRM were offering to sell them with COA's signed by all 4 drivers as CC were releasing the car with an unsigned coa.
A lot of forum members have bought them off GRM & hence where they are coming from.
cheers. :)

We should see them on the shelve any day now.
My sources tell me this is even more popular than the Biante a9-X and most retailers have been sold out for months. So the chances of seeing one on the shelves at your local retailer are pretty slim if you didn't pre-order.

this is not classic bashing, but i went down to my local model shop today, and he had them in there, i had a look at it and was rather dissapointed. just sonething about the overall look of the model made it look rather like a toy.
i have had it on pre-order since it was revealed they were making it, and today i cancelled it. i dont think its worth the money.
while the levels of detail are there, the quality seems to have been dropped.
each person judge it to their own liking, and congrats to anyone that managed to get one, but this is one model that wont be making it to my collection.
P.S. i realise there is a high demand for this model and i could have probably made some money on ebat with it, but i would rather the next person down the list gets the model at retail.
Just my opinion

I picked the 427 monaro today at RRP $195 . nice looking car but I had to go through a quite a few models to get good ones As quite a few had assembly flaws .
Got One for myself and one for my daughter , I reckon we've had them on pre-order for at least 6 months or more and were happy we got this model . Very nice ! :D

Teambrock50 , faults were Broken mirror , Ill fitted headlight cover (one hanging off ) , minor paint flaws but mostly ones that doors didn't close all the way (usually the passenger side) and poorly aligned boot or doors .
It's a real shame the attention isn't paid to assembly detail as the quality of components is exceptional .

Not a lot , but he did put the broken ones aside so probably he'll send them back , but unfortunately minor flaws seem to be not of great concern to most retailers .
I have to say that he was most patient and considerate to make sure I got good ones and that I was Happy with the models I got . :)

just got mine and i have to say it is one of the best looking models i have seen and the kevlar looking engine cover is a nice touch.
Chups maybe you should have worn your glasses this is one of the nicest models i have ever seen i got mine and love it.
Very gentlemanly of you for leaving your model for someone else.
i think you may well regret in time not getting this especially when biante release the red one which will make a very sought after pair of cars.
I've had mine for a couple of weeks now (advantage of being in the media) and gave it away. Not that I don't want it, but I promised it to the art guy at the magazine ages ago.
So I'll be buying one out of my own pocket - I'm that impressed.
In case you were wondering, I give away about half the samples I get - sharing the love as it were.

Just curious as to whether many people on here ordered their's direct through GRM and, if so, whether they've received their's yet?
They were very quick to take my $200, but as yet I haven't seen mine.
Not stressing too much just yet, but now that it's been released (and talked about...) I'm pretty keen to get hold of it.

I think orders from GRM would take longer as dont forget it has to be signed by Four drivers and that not a easy task.

There is nothing wrong with the grill as you state, this issue was flogged to death on the Classic forum and admin even got involved in it.
With GRM actually stripping the car down so Classic could get acturate details do you honestly think that GRM would let something like this slide through and not say something about it.
The fact of the matter is GRM was heavily involved on this project so your saying that thier wrong as well seen as they have the car and all.

Steve, I love the car and it will be a highlight of my collection but, the grill is wrong. Photos from GRMs OWN website show the grill and badge are different to the model. You don't mind pointing out mistakes with other models but you (and others) seem to have some trouble accepting that there is an error with the latest CC car. The badge is wrong, pictures tell a thousand words. No one can talk away what is plain for all to see. Great model, but. Absolutely love it.

Then explain the fairly -obvious- difference between the grills..
Ive heard that its that the photo's of the real car is on different angles and that explains it .. so here's 4 photo's of the car on various angles.. clearly showing the bonnet overlapping the holden badge on the grill.. and the final photo of the model.. clearly showing no overlap...
please.. explain it to us?

I know your not trying to start an argument and niether am I, the only thing I can suggest is that someone contact Classic and GRM directly and ask the question about the grill.
This is off the Classic site:

Seen all the rhetoric from Classics about the grill being correct.. and to date no proof has been provided to back the claim while there is fairly convincing proof to the contrary..
steve i know your a classics man but cmon mate.. even you gotta agree with "just saying it doesnt mean it is correct"
I mean I could say Ive got 6 legs and continue to say im 100% right regardless of the arguments...
so as I see it at the moment.. classics can say they are right as much as they want.. it doesnt mean it is right...

when the question first came up about the grill someone posted pics on the classics forum and one of their members (cant remember who) said that the photo's only show an overlap cos of the angle of the camera to the car.....
that was the original conspiracy theory to explain it.

Here is a copy of the -email I have just sent to GRM:
To Whom it May Concern,
As with the recent release of this model car, there has been scuttle butt about the positioning of the GMH logo on the front grill of the original car that you own and that on the model by Classic, Classic have claimed that it is 100% correct, but viewing pictures of both original and the model there is a difference between the two.
I know that Classic produced this model in conjunction with GRM and have done a fine job with the replication of your car, but could you please shed some light on this matter for me please.
I have also asked Classic to respond to the same thing as I am posing to you.
Cheers.....Steve. B.
I will post the reply if I recieve one here from either GRM or Classic.
I cant do much better than that, I hope that meets the approval of some of you.

cool how we all debate about a car produced by a rival company :D
Personally I dont like the CC's, Ive got the 2003 and 2004 Castrol Bathurst cars and sitting alongside my Biantes I still prefer the Biante
The CC's lights are nowhere near the quality of the Biante, the 427 seems to have better lights, but the fact remains their Supercars arent that good quality
I liked the interior, although to me it looks a bit 'plasticy'
I havent seen the 427 yet, I'm hoping to maybe pick it up tomorrow, or at worst next weekend (I think i'll fall a tad short money wise)
Still, it goes to show thesedays especially us collectors are into the fine details and theres no room for error ...

Dicastdude,
just a little off topic, you've made good contributions to a lot of threads you've been involved in but one thing mate, the correct spelling of "responce" is "RESPONSE"
Being the pedant that I am, it has been eating away at me, everytime I read the incorrect spelling in your posts.
So in RESPONSE to your post, I think that if GRM come back with a response, CC will get 1st prize in the greatest grill stuff up.

I just want to ask a simple Question: WHO is this STEVE COLLINS, why would the owner of this longtime company have a pseudo? I do know The real person with the Steve Collins pseudoname reads this forum!
If anybody goes on about my 'Ferrari Fan' and that is the explanation then that is OK by me, but I find it still strange to use not your correct name in private correspondence

The pics of the model and the actual car seem to be a different shade of yellow. Are they close or is it just the pics playing tricks ?.
Also , did the race car have all the clearance around the front tyre ?

Hi to all.
I have just picked up mine and i am more than happy with not only the detail but just to have one.
As i think this may be another C/C model which actually appreciates with rarity.
but only few C/C models seem to do this ,shame given the detail.
for example what i consider one of the best models in my collection is the 65 Geoghegan mustang were selling for half it's initial retail/ my purchase price for a period at games world approx 6mths back .
that hurt lots.

Steve Collins (regarding the CC one) to my knowledge is their website administrator.... beyond this Im not sure what is job is.. but on their forum he is what Admin is here to us...

It’s a thought that keeps coming back to me as well, the numbers are low and the quality of late is exceptional I recently purchased a Ford BA in phantom with orange stripes to go with my BA citric acid GT the complete detail of these over another BA I have leaves no comparison surely it can’t be the higher price of these models that holds them back I mean generally you pay for what you get and what you do get with these later models is well worth the extra 20 or so dollars. I like and collect both brands but my loyalty lies with the best model of the day or with the company that is making the model I want at the time so it’s not a bash of either brand but it is the 64,000 dollar question. Why do few of these models increase in value?
was doing a search on google and found this image(what the) (http://www.pbase.com/uli1/image/7286795/original) it's from the 2002 24hr.
check out the rest of the guy's photo's the night shots are fantastic
Singer you obviously suffer from short term memory loss i think first prize could not be the grille with the badge that is in my view a little small. i award it to my colin bond bathurst winner monaro with the wrong grille altogether.
Y2kgoofball not sure how you say the classic cars do not look right it is beyond me the biante VY front air dam is so far from accurate it is amazing and their rear spoiler sits way to high. and please don,t go down the ride hight path
put both cars next to a photo of a v8 supercar and you will see which one looks wrong.
i have over 150 1:18 mostly biante and have no loyalty to either supplier or model maker i am just looking for fair debate on the merits of each model.
i believe the monaro from classics is wrong but the problem is the size of the gmh badge rather than the bonnet or grille.
Ferrari Fan your comments are not worthy of this debate

well we can end the debate guys...
according to one esteemed collector and Classics models expert from the other side of the internet the front of the car is nothiing more then..
I think that it maybe an optical illusion, maybe you need new glasses mate or a seeing eye dog (hahahahahaha)
see we were all wrong... its an optical illusion that just about everyone can see the difference in the photo's and the real car.. the photo's are an optical illusion..

Well I still think the badge/grille is wrong, all the same I can't wait to get mine!!! It will just be another model car in the collection which is only 90% right ;)
RMM - yes that Bond grille is a bad miss :(

i believe the monaro from classics is wrong but the problem is the size of the gmh badge rather than the bonnet or grille.
I have the Colin Bond/Tony Roberts car too.
Your right it does have the wrong grille altogether.
However, as all the different Manufacturers have their good & bad points, it is my opinion that these minor differences are academic.
We can all find something to moan about, but as a collector in general I have found the competition between the Companies to be a good thing as it has lifted the quality of all models.
I entered this debate more as a side issue regarding the spelling. The attrocious spelling that some members have irritates me ( it comes from having an English Teacher for a Father) but not to the point where I can't still have some fun. Perhaps my typing skills irritate some.
Me thinks you should lighten up a little bit.:D
Have fun with your collecting, Cheers :)

I saw one of these cars today for the first time in model form, up until now had no interest in this model at all.....But I would have to say it's one of the best models I have seen, the level of detail is amazing and well worth the $195.00 even the suspension works.
I do not favour any brand over the other, if I like it I buy it....but I must admit I am disappointed with the Auto Art version of the VY,s...I love all the Biante Classics and feel they do an outstanding job
Not bagging anyone, just what I think

Why its only starting to get interesting, seen as I have time to kill tonight I might as well sit down and go through all the Biante cars I have and pick there faults, but Id probably need 2 life times to achieve that.

You may have seen this already Steve, but for anyone who hasn't its on the CC forum. I agree totally and I think its well put...
A link on the 'other side' goes to a nice gallery of the 24hr race. which also shows that the engine cover is different, too. Its obviously a lot harder to make one of these models than we think. If CCs had hands on contact with the exact car a short time after the event and still made a couple of SMALL errors it must be a real chalenge modelling a 20 odd year old car. I rekon we should all appreciate the HARD work BOTH companies put in and enjoy this great pastime. Nothing wrong with pointing out mistakes, I think the tone is the important thing. Just my little soapbox moment...

I wonder who wrote that little gem ?, Im sure you saw this then:
People should realise that these cars by both Biante and Classic are replications not clones, some are done better than others.

see now this thread seemed to be going -reasonably- well discussing the grill in question..
but its **** like this that turns them into arguments!
what... cant think of any more defences for classics your gonna try turn this into a biante bashing exercise instead?
so much for an actual discussion on a problem rather then a *****-free-for-all.....

trust me.. I did... and still aimed my responce at your post as its that sort of obvious biante bashing in responce to a comment about a CC model that start's the problem.....
seems to be the way it constantly runs.. you cant even comment about a possible fault or error without someone bashing back in the opposite direction....
to bad if the original comment was unknown to a company and effected a change in their model making to improve the model for the consumer... no wonder the makers ignore threads like this instead of using them to further improve their models in the future.

My Biante bashing post as you put it is not bashing, its just stating a well known fact that Biante's cars are not perfect either despite what other people would like you to believe

Looks like this thread has gone from discussing models to a slanging match.
