I'll have one of these as well. I also wouldn't mind the HDT Commodore Moffat drove at Sandown one year.
It'll be great to line up Moffat's 79 Amaroo AMSCAR A9X Minicar with Bobby Morris's championship winner.

Dog my cat! How many cars did this guy drive?
He's costing me a fortune not to mention all the extra space it looks like I'm going to need just for the rest of the Moffat set.
Oh well, what else would I do with my money? Probably waste it.;)
rex555
We are just scratching the serface.
I think added to the list should be
Chev Monza (came in two diffirent paint schemes, black camek was best)
Red Allan Hamilton Porsche
Capri (has this one been done, sorry I'm not a collector anymore)
Bob Morris A9x as discussed.
HDT Sandown Commodore
MHDT Bathurst Commodore with Brock.
Bob morris Bathurst XD. R
emember that? Morris allowed Moffat in the car then blamed him for damaging it LOL. Moffat still the only man to record two DNF in one Bathurst race.
He drove John Goss' XY when his was stolen
Planty of Mazda RX7s
as MX5 in a race that ended up being his last ever and he won that race (he only retured once)
Then of course there is all the cars he drove for Channel 7 for the 1985 Bathurst 1000 telecast to evaluate them. He was so close to driving the second DJR Mustang that year I nearly cried when the deal did not come off!
The Commodore him and Harvey drove at the world touring car championship.
The list goes on LOL

Grice/Harrington had two DNF's in the 1984 race (#36 did 7 laps, #6 did 70 laps IIRC) :D
He drove Murray Carter's Falcon, not JG's
How about the Formula Ford at Calder in 1970 or 71 - either an Elfin 600 or a Bowin P4 from memory.
The Porsche 934 at Le Mans.
And there was a Twin-Cam Escort too.

Some of Moff's borrowed Fords :
He drove Murray Carter's XY GTHO in the 1973 ATCC Adelaide round when his was stolen.
He drove John Goss' XB GT in the 1976 ATCC Adelaide round when his was incinerated.

My bad - I forgot the second time. Moff must have been paranoid about Adelaide!
From memory the Monza was a very dark, metallic brown - not black. But you know my memory!

Hey, saved some face with the Goss XB:D But I really meant MC's XY.
Your right about the dark brown. Mind you it did look black in the black and white photos I have.
Re the only driver to DNF twice at Bathurst, you are rightas well. I will now go and hang my head in shame.

The Sports Sedan Monza would be really worth tooling I think. Just think of some of the stunning cars that could be made by varying the initial mould.
Man, that would be sweet!

Wonder how strong the demand for this car will be. Dick Johnson collectors (who predominantly collect Fords) don't seem too taken with DJ's Holden Torana. Similarly Peter Brock fans (who predominantly collect Holdens) don't seem too taken with PB's Ford Sierra.
Will the Moffat Fans accept a Holden in their Ford collections ?

Didn't Allan Moffat also race Lotus Cortinas and Mercury Cougars in TransAm racing in the U.S.A ?

Yes Allan did run a 1967 Mercury Cougar prepared by Bud Moore. He drove 2 or 3 races in the cat as a teammate to Parnelli Jones and Dan Gurney. Here is a link to a home made version of the car. Which I was told by a close friend of Allan's was pretty close to the way he drove it. Wasn't a real east deal to replicate as there are only a handful of pics around ,but I have 2 books on the Trans-Am series that had some including a couple color pics. Here is the link

Yep!
I support Holden and collect both holden & ford's, maybe I'm strange (don't answer that...hahaha).
I see your point though...Maybe with so many Sierra's to Choose from people are just Sierra'd out? will it be the same of the A9X??? time will tell.

I, as the name suggests, am a Moffat Fan and have every race car put out by Biante and Classic's.
I think if you started following Motor Racing in that era you appreciate all makes and their contribution to History.
I am a Moffat Fan, a Ford Supporter, a Holden HQ Racer and have one more eye than most Skaife fans:D It and any other will certainly form part of my collection.

I appreciate all racers & collect Both Holdens & Fords driven by Moffat, Brock, Johnson as well as the various Mazda RX7's, BMW's and Porche's.
I do not consider myself biased to either Holden or Ford, just Australian racers

Interesting post. I was just thinking the same thing before I read it.
Despite my GM username (it's an Earnhardt thing) I'm a Ford Australia supporter and collect the Moffat and Dick collections. However I do have about 25 1/18 Holdens in my lot, and these two A9x's of Moffat and Bobby Morris will join them.
I'm looking at having a Morris/ch7 theme going at some point, with his two XD's and XE to join the 76 Bathurst and 79 c'ship cars.

Hey Goodwrench3 ,
That's okay many people here in the US try to forget that Big E drove a Thunderbird for Bud Moore early in his carear.Hey did you get to see the Earnhardt movie "3" on ESPN? Very good movie and I'm not a huge supporter of his. Most fans will support their favorite drivers no matter if they switch brands. I know many Bill Elliot/Ford fans that were unhappy when he went to Dodge ,but still stayed his fans.

Slightly off topic, but yeah I know what you mean when Elliott went to Dodge - 99% of his fans went with him. Here in Oz most of the fans are more brand loyal.
Haven't seen '3' yet, but I'll grab it on DVD at some point. Big E drove for Bud Moore in the #15 in 1982 and 83. Had some success but the union will be remembered for more engine blow up's than finishes. Co-incidently, Allan Moffat drove for Bud Moore, albeit in Tans-Am, and not NASCAR.
