Just saw a pathetic movie called The Last Ride.
I hate these US movies with car chases that show the speedo at 100MPH and the car hardly moving. Even these hotted up 4 cyl crap and the very bad gear changes.
But in this movie our Monaro, well the Pontiac GTO gets a chase, as bad as it is, you can see the Gto in a chase.
It gets done up with a Nitro pack. Red in colour.

i heard about this a while ago, i was told it was just a movie length ad for the new gto. while the story didnt sound too good, id still like to know where i could get a copy.
also, the mask 2 is supposed to have a monaro/gto when it comes out, and also i think the next xxx has one too. anyone know any other movies with our monaro in it?
but nothing can beat the front lawn shot in 'two hands'
There are pix of the Mask's "Monaro" on the Wizard site (www.wsid.com.au) - looks effing amazing!

the last ride movie was just a made for tv spot movie for advertising purposes with a bunch of non talented nobodys as actors. a very low budget film but it wasn't intended to be a theatrical release across the map. these new movies like the fast & furious with all the little tuned rice burners are for todays generation i guess to try and market the crap that the manufactures try to pass off as performance cars these days, what a joke. if you want real cars in action try bullit-steve mcqween, white lighning -burt renolds, cannon ball -david caradine, dirty mary & crazy larry- peter fonda these are old releases from back in the seventies and eighties with poor editing but plenty of action and more releastic than todays hollwood crap.

Yeah, I noticed that over the years.
The old style movies the cars are driven like real instead of those crappy digtially enhanced.
Do you notice that the cars are not out of shape, sideways etc, in a crazy way on the old ones.

Well I don't know if the movie was a flop or not as far as being a ad for the GTO . But if that was the intent of the film it failed miserably. As of a article in JD Power magazine at the time of printing ( my guess 6 months after the GTO went on sale in the US) They (pontiac/gm) had only sold 3000 cars. I have only seen 2 on the roads . I think the combo of a high sticker and bland styling (as far as GTO fans were concerned)have made this a hard sell.It is a shame it is a great performing car.Maybe the addition of the look fast goodies will draw the attention it deserves.
