Mrs Clubbie does a lot of buying and selling on ebay (S*** she makes more money than me working a poper job).
She recently sold an item to a GIT in the UK. They got the item and left feedback 'Received item excellent AAAA" etc.
2 days later Mrs clubbie gets an email from Pay pal (which the Git used) saying said Git had made a claim against Mrs clubbie becuse she had not receieved item paid for (Not the wrong item or damaged item just said to payal did not receive item). Mrs clubbie wrote 4 long letters to paypay (each time gettingAutomoted response) and at the same time contacted other people who had sold to UK Git. Seems Git had made similar claims against three other sellers even though in all cases Git had left possitive feedback. In one case Git was making two claims against one seller. Seems Git has bad rep with ebay and has been bared.
SO what ended up happeneing??? Dumb ass sepos end up refunding UK Gits money from Mrs Clubbies paypal account and all other transactions Git had claimed against. So Mrs Clubbie and all others have sent item to git, had item stolen by Git and then had to pay git for the privelage.
So simply, I think I will try it myself.
BTW Mrs Clubbie rang Dumb ass sepos at Paypal and told them in good Aussie fashion how stupid they are but I think it went over their head.

dont worry about that, my paypal was accessed and used for fraudlent activities, and in the end paypal took more money from my account to repay to other people who had money taken form their account and they then send me letters asking to pay back paypal.
i dont know how many emails i ahve sent them in regards to this and all i get is an automated response.

NoPaypal website (http://www.paypalsucks.com/) shows a lot of things that Paypal do that are completely unethical, if not illegal...

Paypal is stupid... it's totally set up for the buyer as it's very hard for the seller to contact or be treated fairly thru paypal....

Is it possible to use eBay without PayPal, as I use eBay a lot and hadn't realised that PayPal were so dodgy! I rarely use it, preferring people to send payment other ways, but now I have a PayPal account I'm worried!

I use e-Bay all the time and have NEVER used paypal.
I won't bid if the only means of paying are Paypal.
Bring back Sold.com!!
Cheers,
Timbo.

I've used Paypal many times and never had a problem. I have my Paypal account linked to a Visa debit card which I use just for this purpose. I maintain a minimal balance in this and just transfer money when I'm going to make a purchase.

I have heard a lot of bad things about Paypal and I myself have account with them, which I have held, for 3 and a half years now and must say, have never had a problem with them.I have used Paypal for purchases both as a buyer and seller to people all over the world. The fees seem a little high at times but that would be my only issue.

I have had a paypal account for over 2 years and no problems. I do send a lot of western union money orders too and have had no problems. I did try to contact paypal once and go an automated reply. I was never contacted but what I wanted was fixed up. I wanted to know why I wasnt a verified user and I made into one. Some sellers want this before you buy for some reason.

Just a question about Paypal. We haven't used it, when Wifey buys something off EBay she sends a money-order, no probs. I like the look of several of the Ebbro models, but their site only sells through Paypal. Given the tone of this thread, does anyone think that using Paypal for Ebbro would be OK? I mean, I'd be dealing with a Company, not some shonky individual, hopefully.

Steve, a friend tried to order some models off the Ebbro site earlier this year, only for his order to be re-directed to the Australian importer Graham Ruckert who in turn wanted to re-direct it to one of the local retailers who wanted to charge 40% more than the Ebbro website price.
Just find yourself a good supplier of Ebbro models and buy direct.

Thanks for the warning, Jager. There is a retailer sort-of near me but, yes, he charges $55-00/$60-00 for his Ebbros. Also, the Ebbro site has several "hard-to-get" models in their shop. Oh well. I'll keep looking.

I've also been using Paypal for ages and have never had a problem with Ebay purchases.
I only buy from people with 99%+ ratings and look through their feedback before bidding..

As a paypal user for over 2 1/2 years (both buying and selling), I have had no dramas. But, I (along with others) also have a special account with minimum credit limits and only buy from reputable shops (many with a rating of over 10,000 and satisfaction of 99+%). I have even used PayPal with companies like Exoto for ebay purchases (yes - they do sell on ebay at times for great prices). I tend to stay well away from private sellers with small feedback ratings. I'll always check 'other items' offered by the seller as this gives me an idea of their business and whether thay can ofer refunds, replacements etc.
However, I am more comfortable in using it as a buyer than as a seller as buyer's rights are too great!!! Touch wood - I have had no drama's yet!

I get my 1/20 scale EBBRO moderls from Model Cars Too in Steak & Kidney, and have found this very good indeed.
Hope this helps.
