This is just athough,
Often i seek advice on models and i pose a question on this forum and many help full people come to the rescue with wealth of knowlege.
With out making this thread a competition on who knows the most, we should all list what our speciality/ preference (if there is one) that has shaped our current collection.

The reason for this is so we can keep a record on who can help other collectors.

Eg, Ferrari fan = Ferrari, two door falcons etc ( sorry ferrari fan for using your as an example, i hope you do not mind)

This will be great for new collectors or new forum members.

What do you all think?

I will start.

Inter = Good racing knowlage, 2 door falcons, ford ( all round), keep records of most racing biante ford 1/18 ( love stats )

poor knowlage in = holdens, lighting for models,1/43 scale cars

No particular area of expertise, just a general knowledge about Australian racing scene over the years post WWII and a reasonable knowledge of the product line up of GMH post 1948 and Ford post 1960. :)

Very good knowledge of Singer Cars:D

It is a good idea, .................................................. ...........................
but it ain't that easy sometimes.
a lot of the stats or history can be researched and the end result is as good as the material you have to work with.
I.E. Graeme has all the material and does know his subjects backwards.
what does make it sometimes easier for a dumbo like me is been arround and interested in the particular subject.
I did not know diddly sqatt re 2 door flagons till I deceided ,seeing the Goss polesitter model ;that's it ,I need one, and the reading/finding out of this model started by purchasing all sorts of books, magazines.
I have been interested in for a very? long time in GP F1 and Motorcycling racing pre 1984 and do have some info stored in my grey matter.
Your Q re the Alfa 159 is a simple grabbing of the Brumm catalogue and nothing more than that.

My ex per tease is conning the wife into letting me put up fourteen Biante cabinets in the lounge room, with another six to go up when she settles down.

no gumption re USA Racing, but at the moment have pulled an RZ 500 V4 completly to bits and am rebuilding and improving it, like doing this very much.
next one on the list is an early aircooled Yamaha 350 racer.
after that are 5 more stat engines and a tractor:D

Don't really consider myself to have any expertise as such. I follow a lot of different types of motorsport and may be able to help out from time to time. Must admit that touring cars and F1 are my favourites.
I also have a bit of experience with photography and can give a bit of advice about that. I think I've probably asked more questions than I've answered on this forum! :D

i dont condsider myself an expert on anything other than baffling wife with bull over how long that model has been in the cabinet (no thats not new i just moved them around and its at the front not the back) but i have reasonable knowledge of f1 since 1978 and some knowledge of earlier than that. i also have reasonable knowledge of later holdens (post 78 ) and of v8 supercars and some knowledge of earlier and i also follow nascar and moto gp, 250s 125s and sbk world superbike championship

I can probably help regarding Ebbro models, anything Skyline GT-R diecast (and a bit on the real 1:1 car too), some Japanese 'supercars' (NSX, Supra, STi, Lancer Evo etc.), WRC, and Toyota F1.

Outside of those niche areas, I know diddly-squat!

Wayno, i just bought a digital camera ( 4 megapixels) and i would like to photograph my model cars similar to what they do in brochures. Should i use a black back ground and any advise on lighting for the shoot?

I am looking for a model that i used to play as a young boy in the early 70's. All i can remember is that it was a light blue Holden special 1/43 scale ( i think it had taxi stikers) and the most distinct memory is it had a steering wheel through it's roof that steered the car. The car is long gone now.
Does any body know what car it was and how i could get one.
This was in Italy by the way.

The only car of that type that I can think of was an Austin Cambridge made by corgi.

Micro Models made a range of Holdens in the 50's & early 60's but nothing as sofisticated as you describe.

Dinky made an EJ Premier in light green & in Bronze with a suit case in the boot steering via pressure on right & left.

Cheers

BTW the Austin Cambridge made by corgi in light blue could easily be mistaken for an FB/EK Holden.

Here is a question for all the knowlegable forum members out there. I have a 1/28 scale , 1936 Dodge panel delivery in mint condition made by Liberty Classic. ( never out of box).

Is this a collectable?
What is it worth?
Is Liberty reputable/Collectable?

Cheers Inter

Only from what i know as i have a few of these in the form of hotrods. The only reason i have them is to fill their roll as "fill-ins" in my hotrod part of the collection.
They seem to not be of the best quality & i only paid from $14 to $22 for them.
That said they look great among the others & im happy with them.
Some are even banks with a key & trap door underneath !
