Do NOT know what the stress is all about!!
I just have a preorder with my fav. Model retailer, (TRIKING 08-93221828) sends all over the world!!
Another fav in the East is Bridge Model Cars (08 85310477), they also take preorders and do send all over the world.
There are many more exelent retailers, (Modelcars Too, I use as well) , just look up the list on this website aqnd you will find one near you, build a report (buy some models) and you are assured of the ones you want.

FF,

I foresaw this event happening so I preordered with my retailer, however, as I've said before, when you don't have reliable local retailers around, it does tend to make things hard.

Anyway, I've got one & I'm happy :)

Is this going to be one of those models whose value skyrockets, or will it stay at sensible levels, do you think? I can't predict with any accuracy!

It is my opinion that this XY's value will skyrocket. It seems to be any Moffat/XY combination appreciate rapidly:)

The place where I get my models from looks like they won't be selling models anymore, when a model like this comes up I can't order from the Biante site during work hours as I'm not permitted to use the internet for private use at work like most people but this is strictly enforced where I'm at.

Hopefully I can still get one but if not that the way it goes.

28 minutes must just about be the record for a Biante model selling out. I think the DJR Sierra took about 90 minutes, the Brock A9X would have taken longer than 28 minutes because of all the server problems, and I think from memory the Moffat XA took something like 40 minutes.

With an earlier release already on more than $850 and the skyrocketing of all the XW/Y Moffat models, how is a new collector going to get a decent collection together
The use of someone else's picture is enough for Ebay to can the listing, I believe.
Brock and Moffat collections must be every where
Even the 61D and the 1D are well above the retail price and are selling like hotcakes.
Funny buisness this model collecting, as the '73 Polesitter Goss is still available at retail or even below, and I think that this is an oustanding model together with the DJR RS500 and the BRUT33 XB.

New collectors are just going to have to dig deep to complete their XY/XW Moffat collection. Anything that is limited edition and collectable will go up in value. I am glad to know that my Moffat 65E which i paid for $450 2 years ago is worth over $850.

I agree Ferrari Fan it is funny business. The Brock HT Monaro is still available at retail price (i would have thought this model would have sold out in 30 minutes) and I agree the Goss XA is a sensational model. But why aren't they in peoples collection?

Everyone’s goals in collecting are different. I collect only 1/18 scale models of the late 60's and 70's road muscle cars which include Ford, Holden and Chargers. I also collect all Bathurst winners and any XY produced because the XY's are sensational looking cars!. This is probably why the XY's all go for top dollar because they are everyone’s favorite and everyone collects them.

I also collect 1/12 scale Ferrari's, F40, F50 and Enzo and MS Championship cars (i am missing the latest one. Can you help Ferrari Fan?).

My collection used to consist of 1/64, 1/43 and 1/18 but i re assessed my collection plan. i ended up selling off my 1/64 and 1/43 and many 1/18's. The good thing about it all was I got all my money back + a little extra.

I have no doubt that the Moffat ATCC XY will be one of the best models in everyone's collection. I predict this model will reach the high price of the Moffat 65E in no time. So if you see it on eBay at a good price buy it! This model is the Point Piper of real estate in Sydney. This model is the blue ribbon of the XY's...............

Mattel is making a meal of their issues and the information regarding their models, very hard to know what is released, when, etc. Their website is a mess.
There is also no more documentation available anymore.
This has caused some people to make models,(code 3) and try to sell them of as L/E, neverreleased issues.
The 2004 regular model is out and about and should be freely available, there is a host of "specials being produced, but good info is very scarse indeed.
Minichamps brings out a catalogue and CD's by which you can check your collection and coming issues, not so with Mattel, sadly.
I could say that the F1 2000 "King of Rain" Warsteiner GP of Germany,L/E 9999 is the most valuable in their collection, the rest, who knows.

This is a question that has been asked on this ebay auction fopr the Moffat 73 ATCC XY

Q: Can you please let me know what the certificate number is? Cheers Answered on 22-Jan-05

A: SORRY CANNOT GIVE YOU A CERTIFICATE NUMBER YET. THEY ARE BEING DELIVERED TO ME AS WE SPEAK,
BUT AS I WILL BE GETTING SEVERAL OF THEM I WILL GIVE THE WINNER THE LOWEST NUMBER OR A CHOICE
OF THE NUMBER. THERE ARE 6000 OF THESE MODELS MADE. PICK UP IS POSSIBLE UPON AUCTION END. THANK YOU.

He says they are being delivered as we speak..... Thats news to me and Im sure most on this forum would agree with me on that, wish It was on its way already

and

Pick up is possible upon auction end.... Is there even a set date yet that this model will begin shipping from Biante, his auction ends on Jan 31.

If the ebay seller labels the item clearly as a pre-order on ebay, there is nothing wrong with that. If people know that it is a pre-order, then people know that he will hopefully ship it as soon as he gets it. I have seen this many times on ebay with other diecast cars but sometimes people do misunderstand the pre-order concept. IF he does NOT clearly label it as a pre-order in his auction, then that is illegal and it should be reported to ebay.

Cheers! Will from Canada

There is a way to stuff these people up.
I saw a lot of this done on EBay and Sold.com during the aftermath of the Sept 11 Terrorist attacks

There were a large number of people trying profit, by selling NYC Newspapers reporting the attacks and trying to sell them as once in a lifetime "Collectors Items".

EBay and Sold members were just putting in crazy bids of any large sum to be the winning bidder and then not paying for the item. They then sent the seller an offensive/ Abusive Email to them, that was listed in the "ask the seller a question colomn"

You obviously couldn't do it too many times before being banned but, whats the worst that could happen to you. Being labelled as a non paying bidder.

Big Deal;)

An excellent addition to the Moff stable this - potentially the final Moffat XY HO.
That makes (along with the W's) 5 in that collection. In future this model will be as sought after as the previous Moffat XW/XY releases (with the obvious exception of the 65E!).

Wrenchy; the issue numbers of all the XW/Y are the same and in time these all will be aprox the same in collectabillity in my oppinion.
At the moment the price for a 65E is rather High.
The 64E, 61D, 1D and 9 will catch up in time in my oppinion.
The brand recognition is still growing and the fact that this model has gone ape will turn it into a mithycal item with the side effect of dragging the other ones up as well.

Moffat put it on pole, probably would have won had it not been for both Brock's Torana, and the lousy weather that helped said Torana. Also the last Moffat GTHO to race at Bathurst I suppose :D

NO, The certificate number is not related to a specific model car as these do not carry a number on their body.
I could swap with you certificates without exchance of the actual model.
I never look at my certificate never mind the numbers, but on a very regular bassis do admire the models.

I don't think it's the be all and end all but to some people it does carry some weight , although I myself find it a bit of a novelty when I get a low one .

But my priority when buying a model is the condition of the model and packaging and that the model has no flaws , which in my opinion is more important than a number .

I relation to this #9 Moffat XY, the story goes that it was stolen from a Ford Dealer in Adelaide a couple of days before the race. The dealer I think was Bowden Ford ( now Maughan Thiem Ford ). I am told a white XY Phase 3 was taken from the showroom floor, painted red and haistily made up to a race car and raced . Rumor has it that that car is still around in race trim and if you open the doors or bonnet the origional white paint is there. It lives in the Adelaide Hills in someones shed. ( Boy would I love to find that car )Moffats real car was recovered missing the carbie.A thank you note left in it by the thief. Can anyone verify the story. AND......... I dont take drugs:D

At Round six of the 1973 ATCC in Adelaide Moffat's car was stolen from Stillwell Ford in Adelaide.

The race was delayed while police hinted for the car, but alas as race time approached, no car.

Murray Carter offered his car to Moffat which he accepted.

In probably his best ever drive he started from the rear of the field. Copped a black flag to come in and have a loose exhaust examined. And went on to get second place behind Peter Brock.

The last round of the 1973 ATCC was held at Warwick Farm and the only Falcon to finish was Murray Carter.

This is a very significant car in ATCC and Allan Moffat history and should not be overlooked.

I was smilingly told by the SA Hobby Shop in Adelaide that their Biantes are $200, but they did have one Moffat in stock. Is there another shop selling Biantes for as much as that anywhere else? This is current issues, not older, rare models.

Low numbers, uless you had numbers, 1, 9 or 73, I do not really think it matters, but hey, some people go nuts over low numbers!!!

Shire's models got some out got mine today.
I still remember the race at Oran park where he raced the car, I think one of the wheels then was painted or something like that.
Hard to think back 30 odd years on one race after seeing heaps over the years.
Great model, another XY to my collection.;)
