With the imminent release of the secong DJR RS500, what are your thoughts?
I ask this to guide our 'investment' collectors as the second of the Green Mean Machines is not as sought after as the first one, while many would say that the Channel7 logo is far more outstanding than the first one.
Froma historical point of view the Bushbasher is wider known in the mythological world of Bathurst and in the same League as the Billy Brown , Revin Kev's Camaro and the Japanese LC sushi roller.

Bert , I think it will be extremely popular because primarily for anyone that missed or can't afford the '89 bathurst winner then this is the chance to have the next best thing and for new collectors it will be a great addition to their collections at a modest price compared to the famous '89 bathurst winner .

Also the '88 Sierra is a significant part of history in the fact that it was the car that won Dick Johnson the 1988 ATCC win , plus another sequel to the dick Johnson collection in regards to models.

As these famous leading drivers of yesteryear move on from motor racing but still manage to be heavily involved in motorsport they still retain their reputation and are still in the limelight to be acknowledged by the younger generation that were either too young at the time to enjoy or remember the great input these guy's put into the sport , and for those young model collectors this is a model that they actually have a chance of getting their hands on without too much effort .

And to those that have the exsisting '89 Bathurst winner this "88 ATCC winner will be a Great addition to go with the sierra that is already in their collection , as we see that many people that Had the 81 Bathurst winner still bought the '80 Rock version XD and those that had the '84 Palmer tube mills XE Still bought the '83 Green's Tuff XE to complete those as a set .

But the reason most of all that will sell this model is that it's an awsome looking model that's going to be a great addition to anybody's collection even if they do indeed have the previously released Dick Johnson Sierra , it may not succeed in pulling as big a Dollar return as the Bathurst variety but I feel confident it will more than hold it's value in respect to some of the other Ford Sierra's already released .

Cheers

Jim .

The first one always seems to keep better value.
But it bothers me not - I bought my whole Dick collection at RRP or below and will not be selling anything from it in the near or far future. Ditto the Moffat collection.
I'm looking forward to the release of the '88 Sierra purely because it's another addition to the 17 stable.

Regards,
Brett.

The 1977 A9X Brock has been overtaken by the second release 1978 A9X Brock , so to confirm the rule one has to find an exception to confirm the rule  :D

Maybe it just relates more to cars with practically the same livery? The real test will be when the 79 A9X is released. I would have thought that one would be MORE desireable than the 78 car, but you never can tell.
It could be that people already have one model and don't want another practically the same.

all I can say is.......bring on the 1/43 versions

I think it depends on what you collect, i for one collect all the Bathurst winners so the 88 car would be no use for the theme....but on the other hand i am starting to collect as many ATTC as i can and the 88 car did win the championship that year

Unlike the DJR Greens Tuff car of 83, or maybe the DJR 84 car was more popular due to it winning the 84 Championship or being the last Group C Touring car

So i will be getting the 88 car for sure, as i hung off the 89 car when it first came out and then pay a lot more for it

How about 1/64 scale? would there be any takers for that one if it ever would be released?

For sure , I have quite a few minicars including the older touring cars that have been released so far , I also intend getting the touring cars that have been planned for future release and if this one was to be included in that bunch I would snap it up along with the rest .

In my view the minicars are a collectable in their own right as they are quite good detail for their size and reasonably inexpensive and add that something extra to a collection , also not to be dismissed is the fact that most of the young collectors or people that don't have much display room or who have just started collecting find these quite appealing as well as affordable .

I have already pre ordered mine with my local Shop! I too am one who missed the first one, and making sure i don't this time. But in saying that it is a championship car, compared to a bathurst winner? But I'm only collecting 1 example of each of Fords Touring cars from the GT cortina through to current designed. I've got to draw the line somewhere as i have to spend my money restoring my 1:1 Mustang Mach 1....:)

Peter , Nice project you've got going , a long way to go but your attention to detail should bring very rewarding results and a good thing you had a great base to work with in regards to the primary conition of the panels and chassis etc .

anyhow best of luck with the resto and I look forward to your updated pic's as your progress continues .

Ditto the sentiment. I collect for the pure enjoyment I get out of it not for the speculation that the collection may rise in value. As I'm not selling, unless circumstances beyond my control force the issue

No real (A9X aside) comparison between those two cars now is there Bert. The 78 A9X is a Bathurst winner, as is the almost identical '79 car. As was pointed out elsewhere, the similar liveries is what we are talking about here (ie DJ's 83 and 84 XE's and his 88 and 89 RS500's), for all intents and purposes.
But as I said originally, it's a pointless discussion for collectors who paid RRP for their whole collection and who have no intention of selling.

I reckon the 77 A9X is creeping up there price wise, more than a few have gone for more than $250 lately, a couple have hit the heights of $300...

Get ready with the folding stuff as this one is not far away in a retailstore near you
From memory of the Biante letter the release is planned for the end of this week?

What a sensational start of the modelling year we have had so far!

24 hours to go! The wheels on this one set it apart from the previous issue, Bathurst winner or not. The RS500 is a good-looking race car, and I think this one will climb in value by virtue of how good it looks..
