At the risk of being labelled a pedant - not to be also confused with a pederast - I wonder whether collectors will soon stop referring to Dick Johnson's 1984 XE as "the Greens-Tuf Falcon".

I've always figured it to be the "Palmer Tube Mills XE" and that may be appropriate bearing in mind that a model of the similar green machine of 1983 will soon be hitting the market with the Greens-Tuf signage along the flanks.

One more question : Will the 1983 Bathurst model be based on the original "written off in the trees" car or the converted Harris machine that ran in the actual race ??
The sponsor logos varied due to the hurried overnight conversion job as did the underbonnet, boot, and interior colours .

I think everyone refers to the 84 XE as Greens Tuf because it's shorter to say and because of the colour of the car..... If you say Greens Tuf, everyone knows which car you're talking about. (The 83 hasn't been released yet, so there really can only be one green XE)

By the way, I have a question too - whatever happened to the idea of the Red Roo XE?

I would much rather see the car "pre tree's" or "post tree's" than the converted Harris car that was in the actual race. But that's just my opinion. I would also like to see some driver figure's of the different era's like Johnson during the XD, XE, Mustang & Sierra to AU, Brock from the HT Monaro to the VX, Moffat in his Glory days of XW's to XC's.

Anyone else want to see these? :D

The Red Roo XE was painted in tru blu colours with Palmer tube mills on the doors & tru blu on the bonnet & the front spoiler was red with red roo pipe on it. And from memory Admin said it would be released 2nd half of next year.

Perhaps I'm a rambling nuisance, but my point is that at some time in the future it could get rather confusing in the collector market when looking to purchase these models.

"I'm after Dickies Greens-Tuf XE" - which one do you want mate,
the 1983 car with bold logo down both sides or the 1984 car with the logo across the bottom of the front spoiler.

At least there was only one Bathurst XE in blue; I reckon we could skip 1983 ( I'm reckon Dick would like too as well ) and just go for the 1982 Red Roo .

no passenger - red roo is different to the tru blu. the tru blu is an 81 XD.
the red roo is an XE, painted predominantly blue, with a red front undertray section. looks rather good.

we'll cope graeme :)
just like the 2001 bathurst GEM and the 2002 lowndes GEM, and possibly the 2002 bathurst GEM. specifying the year of the car is the best way to go.

I have found this article regarding the81 Winning XD that came again Tenth in the 1984 James Hardie 0n 30/9/84 .
drivers were Alf Grant /Craig Harris #27 entry
You have to agree that this is a car with a Bathurst pedigree.
Book source Garry Sparke & assc. title Bathurst 1984/85 :)
