we dont all think your strange for hacking up great models. even the best of us do it. and it takes great skill to get it looking good.
there was a guy that cut up a yellow monaro to make a convertible, a 1:43 concept coupe and a kmart racing commodore to make a cross8 model, another concept coupe to make a lm-spec monaro (see street machine mag a few months back) and now even a GTS 300 to make a yet un-named new project. hang on......... these were all me :) but there are a lot of people out there that do the same thing. there is even a nnl (national nameless luminaries) model show here in perth annually specifically for customised, scratch built and modified models (although mainly kit models)

Do any of you guys have photos of these customs you have made, I'd like to see these, they sound really interesting, especially the cross8. If you have any, can you email them to me?

a question for vanpyre if he is still arround, or anyone if they know. is there any way of joining dicast parts. can you weld them or solder them or anything?

Use the fake metal putty and join it from the inside. Just push a little bit through the join and make sure it is even. Smooth it by brushing over it with a bit of water and your thumb. let it dry and it can be sanded.

The boot/roof section on my mustang were held on by screws, but I didnt want the ugly join lines around the boot. There are still a few holes but im working on them at the moment. Also, when I paint it the paint should help fill some of the holes up completely as I am doing four undercoats, the colour until i use most of the can (salesman says about 6 coats) and then 3 or 4 clear coats to give the model a mirror finish.
