Sorry, I have to show you this. After a while in the wilderness from CCs forum, for reasons that may become clear, I decided to get back into it. I posted a comment on a membership issue. this being that some members were not prepared to share info of upcomming releases. See following.
The thing is, it sounds like there is more news in the newsletter than there is on the webpage. Which, as said is CCs perogative.
I didn't know CC releases were that quickly snapped up that it is an advantage not to let non members know about them.
I agree with what others say, it pays to advertise. I have never missed out on a CC product to it being sold out too quick for me to get my hands on one.
Biante and CCs are totally different. No doubt about it. But the important thing out of all this is that we get so many great models to choose from. How good is that?
And at least you can write biante on here now without the word being edited. (That was a long time ago, I must admit). Thats what caused me to stop my membership and not visit the site again for a long time..
This was the next post
M.Thomas,
You certainly have a lot to say for some one who has contributed to the foruma s much as you have ,(2 postings) surely not a regular contributor. Maybe if you contributed more regularly and got envolved in the discussion then you wouldn't have this feeling you keeep saying is why your not a participant.
This Forum is Classic's and not Biante where most of what you post is allowable and not referred to a moderator before being allowed to be posted.
Regards
CC
So I said what I felt back and I can see it getting childish so I'm all done with CC and will not bite for him again.
Heres the kicker. Some time back, someone started a post as to why they don't have as many members contribute on that forum.
I reckon I have an idea...

Martin,
After the Classic carlector started that thread and made some of his usual small minded, insecure comments I posted a post which read "and you guys wonder why so few people visit this forum" (and a couple of rolling eye faces). This post has now been removed. The thread then took the tangent it did by Classic Carlector asking me just what my problem was.
By removing this post CC have changed the way the whole thread reads.
In my opinon this tells us two things;
1. They are reading the thread.
2. They dont like the truth.

I don't understand where this comment came from. No comments are moderated prior to being posted, only pictures. That comment is totally incorrect.

I wouldn't worry Richard, this comment came from a well-known member of the CC forum who has been asked to leave here on at least one occasion. Martin was simply copying what had been writing over there.
Robert, I'm sure you remember all the garbage that went on over there a few months back, when a couple of members went overboard and caused the CC forum to be closed for a brief period. Now they appear to be cracking down on any sort of mud-slinging that goes on between members. It appears though that usually it's the retaliatory party's message that gets deleted...
Unfortunately the signal-to-noise ratio seems to be a lot higher at the CC forum than at the Biante forum...

If this thread is going to get personnal then I think it would be best closed. Nobody wants a slanging match?
The person made a comment which I pointed out as being incorrect. That's all that needs to be said I think. No matter who it is, I don't think it's fair to start commenting on him when he cannot come onto this site and defend himself.

You're completely correct Richard. It was unfair of me to make comments against someone who can't defend themselves. Apologies to all concerned.

I read the threads at the CC Forum daily, but can't post (tech problem).
On the topic of the discussion in the thread that Martin refers to, does anybody here get the CC newsletter and care to share with those that do not get the newsletter, either by scanning or typing the information?

lcfp2297 most of the newsletter is on the classics website expect a few XR and XTs in 1:43, #54D Bathurst XR GT in 1:18, Beechey HT Monaro and the Ben Bray Drag Car
You will find in a month or so this will all be added to the website anyway.

Thanks TB
As you say, not much not already on the website. One of the reasons I cancelled my subscription some years ago.
Now if anybody else wants to know, maybe they could be directed here;)

Thats a point that was made. I didn't think the actual newsletter was such an attraction. The members cars and access to members only plus the comps seem to be value for money enough...
Those members only cars do look pretty good. theres a couple on ebay. Last years and this years..

do you mean the 1:43 ones they do every year? or the special ones they offer in the newsletter.. like the ambrose one they stuffed or the more recent Perkins car?

At the end of the day people on cc forum are one sided and so are some biante aswell. its like holden vs ford. cc members think their the best and biante think they are the best. i collect both models and am a member with cc. i like both products (CC and Biante) i have more biante cars because they bring out more of what i want. there is no use trying to talk to some people because they are one eyed towards certain things. i think the best thing to do ignore them because all they want is attention and they will do anything to get it.
Malik

sphinx I definately agree with that statement..
what rides me is that people (from either side) label you because you use one forum more then another.... personally I have no issue with either manufacturer and my collection includes both makes (so I have the cars I want) yet some people brand others as a biante lover or CC lover...
personally I use this forum more then theirs because I find this one has a friendlier atmosphere while over there I find you get attacked more if you disagree with certain things and certain members and are quite often belittled and verbally abused on the forum.... so I don't participate in CC forum at all..

Agreed,agreed,
I like the version that this forum is, short sweet and to the point.
Some forums that i've visited...all the user's have moving pictures attatched to their user names and post pics on the threads. I've only got dial up & my computer is about 8 years old...so viewing some of these other forums can be time consuming.
This forum version is one of the best i've come across and the main Biante site is one of the most user friendly sites to navigate. I like how it only shows 15 cars at a time with little pics of the cars, making browsing the main site a breeze. Alot of thought has gone into this site and it works well.
Aswell as having Finishline, a weekly newsletter, a watchlist setup, auctions and staff who read and answer questions on the forum (well most of the time). It's no wonder that biante.com.au is the no1 hit wise site.
And last but not least is there genuine surport and sponsorship in the Historics race series, Chris with WRC, Gridgirls (Elise) and all things motorsport.
Please don't take this as a cc bash (i buy cc like everyone else), i'm just pointing out what a really like about this forum and why i visit it so often! :-)

I regularly look at both forums, am a member of both organisations, collect the cars that I like, and tend to ignore all the backbiting comments made by the few one eyed "persons" that post on both forums.
If anyone wants to know what is being released, shortly or not so shortly, by both CC's and Biante, I find a very good source is Stanbridges, who post a list on their site as soon as they receive it from both organisations.

I think it must just be me. I've made 4 posts, had 1 deleted and upset 2 different people. I don't think I will post on there again as I'm not prepared to go in there and be like that one person at the BBQ no one likes and only got an invite due to circumstance...:D
I'll just keep lurking there and posting here I think. They seem happy and I don't think they will miss me and my 4 posts..;)

You make a comment on the Classic forum, dont like the response you get from 1 person I might add and only one person, you run back here , bag the Classic forum on this site and say you'll never post or go back there again, next day your back on the classic forum again , then back here just to bag it again.
Below is what was said and please remember that this was a thread on the Penrith swap meet:

I picked up the Lowndes one for $135, that was guy who had the 64E Moffat XY for $695 and the Brut Falcon and the Federation Falcon.
Another bargin i got was the Moffat/Geoghegan 1973 Bathurst winner for $190 - i saw another one there for $240
Yeh thats the one, the guy had the tables down the bottom on the left near the Canteen, he also had a Brock A9X for sale for $420 with decals already applied but what was funny to me was that he told the bloke who was looking at it that it was brand new near been out of the box, hell it would have been worth the $420 just to see the decals apply themselves to the model through a closed box,
I did notice as is always the case there, if your not buying there as rude as pigs to you. Maybe its the last time I go to have a look, I can stay home and cop it from the wife for nothing and she doesn't charge an admission fee.

Last from me on this bit.
Nice quote work Steve, you didn't mention or show the LOL symbols which show the post was delivered with a laugh, kinda to lighten the mood. That did not work.
I didn't say I wasn't going to post there again 'till WE had a misunderstanding, and I didn't "come running back here"
Let me try this way..
I rock up to a footy club 'cause I wanted to play footy.. I'm in a group of people and say something that realy offends and upsets a senior player, maybe even team captain. I say my piece back and the Coach has a go at both of us. (delets our post)
Fine, it happens. I wonder over to another group, feel a bit of a tension breaker is required, say something delivered as a joke, and upset ANOTHER senior player....
I decide I should go out the door as I'm not the right person for this club. So I look for a place where I FIT IN better. I would never expect the club to change for me..
So here we are.
You were the one who was saying you could stay home and your wife would be rude to you for free, its called the evolution of a conversation. You start by saying you are going to a swap meet and finish by saying your wife is rude to you.;)
Admin, I can understand if you want to delete this. It can get messy but this is the last I say on it.

I was going to join the forum but I noticed two posts (from two separate members) under the 24 monaro thread which got deleted saying that they're sick and tired of all the snobbery, haven't contibuted because of getting backlashed, and that they wont be browsing the forum anymore because of this. One ended with a comment or rather that the one eyed members are hurting CCs reputation with the things they post. Which is true given people from all over read them, and if the loyal members carry on like this, it is a reflection of the company so to speak. I browsed the thread just a while ago and both posts were deleted. The posts werent expletive or harmful in any way. Instead they were deleted for mentioning theyre sick and tired of all the pointless jibberish on the CC forum and that action should be seen to stop (other) members like them from heading elsewhere!!
This is in no way bagging CC. But it seems the moderators are trying to cover up the fact that others are sick of the snobbery and that its hurting CCs reputation . Feedback is always vital to fixing a problem but instead it was removed!!

It used to be really common a few years ago, when forums were a new thing, that those who first registered on them regarded it as "theirs" and defended their "territory" with bared teeth. So common was this behaviour that new words were coined, to describe "newbies" being "flamed" by the original forum members. It does seem at times that a few people on the CC forum behave as though it is "theirs" and it comes across as quite aggressive. I've not experienced it myself, but reading some of the posts I see suggestions that anyone who doesn't post often enough should be banned, mention of PMs being used to attack people whose views someone has disagreed with, and several people saying that they don't post, or would rather contribute to other forums because of aggressive responses. And because some forum members have succeeded in driving away a lot of newcomers, the forum remains the domain of just a few, some of whom may feel this makes it even more "theirs". Having said that, there are a lot who just bite their lip and ignore any backbiting, so the forum can survive. It doesn't help remove the "us and them" CC versus Biante attitudes though, which is a shame because they both contribute to the enjoyment of collecting Australian models.

I just really don't understand the us versus them cr*p. I collect Australian models. This involves buying what I like. This means I buy models from both companies. I find it hard to believe that most of us do not have models from both sides of the fence in our collection but I could be wrong.
I browse both forums but do not contribute to the CC one. Probably for no more a reason than I was here first. That said I do find the posting at CC in general more negative. My opinion and I'm entitled to it.
Let's just try and keep it away from here and relax a little.
