Last week the National Model and Hobby Fair was held in Chicago where all the major diecast retailers showed whats planned for the coming year. The event was for the 'trade only' on the first 3 days, but opened to the public on Sunday - the final day.
Here is a link to numerous pictures of the new releases from major 1/18 manufacturers - Auto Art, GMP, Exoto, Mattel, Minichamps, Maisto, Sun Star etc etc.

Is there something similar in Australia, and if not what do we have to do to get an event like this. Any thoughts Admin ?

Have a look at the welly stand, its got the Moffat Mustang but with #1 on it not #9. For less than $100 AUS, it will do me. Better than $300 for the other one.

Actually, the show was disappointing to me in regards to the new models shown. Most of the amazing stuff shown belonged to the 1950s era and of street car variety. Nice, but not my cup of tea. On the racing front, the first E30 M3 in racing decor from Minichamps looked amazing. I think it would be worth for Biante to ask Minichamps to produce models of the M3s that were raced in Australia.
The bastardised Moffat's Mustang looked good as well (why no opening trunk). However, I think it won't sell with generic made up livery. I think Welly should have released it in different color and with markings which would have appealed to an American collector.
Here are are my picks from the show (courtesy of scale18):

It'd been nice if Welly could have done the '69 Shelby american and/or Bud Moore team cars but they'd have to change alot: remove hood scoop and rear wing('70 team cars raced with the wing) and change the induction to either single or dual 4 barrel carbs. I've got the '#1' model headed my way from MTR and plan to make those changes. I'd NEVER do that to my Moffat model!:D
