I've been to the Bathurst Museum, and I know of David Bowden's collection, but can anyone tell me of any other good performance/motorsport collections open to the public in Australia? I'm not so interested in vintage stuff, so anything with plenty of Holden/Ford/Chrysler V8s etc from the 60s to 90s.

Nick there is a place at Ultimo in Sydney where there is a car museum. I think Collectors with large amounts of cars and no place to store them allow their pride and joys to be displayed.

Thanks guys! It's a good little list so far. I've seen ads in Unique Cars for Toranas (virtually zero mileage Ultra Blue 4 door A9X, and HDT Marlboro A9X) that must be surplus stock being sold by Paul Kramer from the "WA Motoring Museum" collection. Any ideas where that is?

There is a good car collection in Tassie. Launceston (Did I spell that correctly) near the park with the monkeys.

I enjoyed it.

There is also a good collection at Philip Island at the race track. Got some great cars there.

Have fun

Nick,

I think I read on a previous post you spent some time in Adelaide (?)

Then you've probably been to the Birdwood Motor Museum. I thought it was great, lots of different vehicles, including some on loan from private collectors.

When I was there last year, we saw the Brock Jackaroo, and a Geoghegan Charger (replica I think). Had a few open wheelers there as well (old F1, F5000, FF etc).

I'm going to Qld in October (same time Bathurst is on :( ), so plan to visit the DJR shrine!

Cheers, ET351

ET,

The Brock Jackaroo sounds even more desirable than the Brock EA.

Is it a tough little beastie?

The York Motor museum is Very, very good and all the cars are at a time are taken out if possible to compete in local vitage racing!
But the best thing is what the Owner has at his home!
Peter Briggs has at any time 15 or so of the most desirable cars at his estate, and has great delight in having a blast around town inb as many of them as possible plus competes oversees as much as is possible.
His only regret has been not to collect a few Ferrari's in his collection.:)
