Well, I didn't want to do this but I'm desperate. I'm going to code 3 a Goss XY into a Moffat 65E (sorry John) and am in need of some detail shots of the 65E. I am trying to use my 1:64 but need to comfirm a couple of things.
I realise some my not like the idea and would be against me getting hold of some photos but if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.
If someone is prepared to get some pics to me can you let me know and I'll let you know what I'm after.
Also, I don't need my Goss Brochure that was kindly passed onto me by John (FPR fan) so if someone wants it, PM me and I will pass it on.

Sorry Mate. I sold my 65E a long time ago.
Wish I kept it now.
Good luck & keep us all informed on how it comes along.
Cheers

I can't see that doing a code 3 as you are proposing, purely for yourself, to be any kind of problem. The John Goss XY would be a good basis in that it has 95% of the requirements in the way of roll cage, correct interior, wheels, spoilers etc...About the only couple of areas of difficulty I can see are firstly the bumpers which from memory,(my JG XY is still in the box), are Black...they could probably be chromed with Bare Metal Foil if unable to have them Plastic chromed. The other is the black GT side stripes. They may be able to be printed out in Waterslide Decal form by say the company advertising Decal manufacturing in the back of latest issue of "Diecast Downunder". It is also possible to do your own Decals via computer/printer/blank Decal Sheet Stock but I understand that can be a pretty involved process. Hope that is of some help...

Yep, there is a paint that you can use that you can polish up and it comes up just like the real thing.. I've seen jet models done with it. Its proving to be quite a job, but thats half the fun, isn't it?
Trying to match the paint will be interesting, too. Ive got some orange and red comming up.
Applying the first stroke of paint stripper on the car was a lot harder than I thought it would be, I can tell you..

as long as it IS for ones self, and not for ebay,no problem at all.

Man, the way the job is blowing out, I'm only going to do this one once. I won't be selling this baby... But I do understand your views...;)

No problem - the fewer of the Goss XY's around the more valuable our cars will be.
I often joke to my better half when we need to come up with a few extra bucks that "I'll sell my Moffat 65E". She just laughs at me.
A good girl that one.

Big job to do it as from factory.
Here are some pics to hopefully help you.
Exhaust system is also different.
65E does not have seatbelts in it, plumbing under bonnet is less detailed, overriders on bumpers never mind the chrome issue etc, etc.
But if you do it for your own collection then it doies not matter.
Good luck.

To actualy buy one is not that painfull, once you have deceided that you cannot live without it in Your collection, you only feel the nerve strings pulling till you actualy part with the folding, the moment you hold your new "baby" all is forgotten
I can speak from a distant memory.:D

Thanks FF, there's no way I could justify spending a fortnights mortgage on a car at the moment, unfortunatly. I love the Goss car and I can replace it for under $150.00. I thought the exhaust was different but I wasn't sure if it was just the 1:64 using a generic mould. (hows that for detail?)
I appreciate the help 'cause I just want to try plug up the Bathurst winning cars and I enjoy this sorta thing, too. If I wanted to make money, I wouldn't be doing it with model cars ;) Who am I to guess how the market would go? You can still buy Brockies first Bathurst car for under retail, A japper costs a fortune, The borrowed car moffat used to seal the championship still hasn't taken off.... It would drive you nuts trying to figure it out.

So, if he ever gets a real one, he chucks this one in the rubbish bin or strips it down for another project?
What's the problem with selling a code 3 65E on eBay as long as it is clearly described as such?
The possibility of misrepresentation by a subsequent owner should not prevent this person from selling it, either.

If you can live with an extra mirror.......
Another way to get yourself a code 3 - 65e is to grab a Vermillion fire XY and change the wheels, add some decals and......

Sorry Oh Five. I guess I misconstrued your quote "as long as it IS for ones self, and not for ebay,no problem at all" as the belief that the car should not end up on eBay.
My apologies.

thanks zeitgeist, no harm done, like kraka05 said, perhaps a V/Fire would have been easier, but either way go for it Martin, i wish i could "play around" with models and do dioramas

i built a 65e clone a few years ago and still have it, no its not for sale! the exausht runs out just like the 65e on the vermillion fire xy. from memory i painted the grill black, the out side head lights flat black, the inner lights silver, the front windscreen shade at the top silver. i used john goss wheels and tires, and painted the wheels with chrome automotive spray paint. i did a little extra painting to the chassis & the decals came from pattos place.you will probably want to order two sets of the decals because they are thin and allow for bleed through from darker colors. i doubled mine up and it looks a lot better than with just one set on the model. you will need to paint the license plates black & add ford decals.the only thing i didn't do was remove the rear window louvers just because i like the look, i don't think the real 65e had those.but im not trying to rip anyone off, im just like you i wanted a cheaper version of the car with out having to take out a loan to buy one LOL!! HERES A FEW PICS.....:D CHEERS Tony

Thanks a lot for the pics guys. I'm realy enjoying this as I used to build plastic models when I was younger so I have an airbrush and stuff left over.
FF, If you could please get a picture from the bottom for the exhaust for me as well as the Bumper over riders it would be much appreciated..
Love those louvers, Tony, how could anyone want to take those out?:) I am using Decals from Pattos place, but he now has the super detailed ones that are basicly 2 layered..
This is good fun.

So that answers my point about the side stripes, I wasn't aware they were already available...Also yes the paint you are probably referring to for the bumpers is Testors Metaliser which has to be sprayed via airbrush then buffed til nice & shiny. I had forgotten about that too.., used various shades many times a few years back whilst still building nascar models.
