Just curious as to the opinions of other V8 Supercar collectors.
I know some of you are diehard Holden or Ford fans and others are more specific diehard HRT, DJR or other team fans.
Does it matter whether some models more or less look the same or would the model game be better if teams changed their livery designs more often.
From my perspective, it's hard to justify buying Shell or 00 team 2002 cars when the liveries are little changed from those in 2001.

I totally agree Greame, it almost seems pointless to get the new DJR cars as there is little or no difference... at first glance they look the same. And also the HRT cars, very similar to last years cars.
I've always looked forward to the unveiling of new liveries, and when HRT revealed theirs for 2002 I was disappointed. Every year has been totally different until this year. Personally I would like to see more white and blue, as in 99. 1999 is easily the best looking livery from HRT. I will still buy the 2002 HRT cars as I have them all from every year.

couldnt agree more with your call on the shell liveryand i would be surpised if the 2002 season model isn't less popular than the 2001 pair and DJs last drive car......
one thing though.......
all future kmart models should feature a fuel guage....

I think this is a problem for all model collectors whatever their chosen theme.
There really isn't much difference in some of the F1 liveries between this year and last (Ferrari, McLaren. Williams, Arrows just to name a few), while the LeMans winning Audi's have carried the same livery for the last 3 years. Its much the same in the World Rally Championship (Subaru's, Peugeots & Mitsubishi's are very similar to to past liveries) and I suspect its probably the same in Indycars and Nascar. Fortunately in some of these series there are minor differences to the bodyshape or aerodynamic aids on the cars each year, or new driver combinations.
Nevertheless, in several years time you'll probably regret not buying that missing car in your collection even if it is similar to others in your collection !

HAHA Damn 'F' word supporters!! LOL
How would you feel if you were Greg Murphy.......
Anyway, it is actually good to see a Ford have a win. Although I didn't really like what happened to HRT, but that's racing. It started getting a bit too repetitive. I actually thought Ambrose would win, but I should've listened to Besnard's Dad. He comes to the Club that I work at and he said watch out for Dave, he is going quick up there, but I thought Ambrose was due for a win so I put my dough on him.
I think it's funny that the DJR cars aren't that popular, although I don't have any, I think they'd look good in a collection, a lot of colour in them.
Can't wait for the 2002 Kmart cars though, I think they look terrific, shame about the fuel gauge!!!

I don't really collect the team liveries from one year to another (unless one takes my fancy), as I like to get the bathurst winners that BIANTE release and plus there are too many older cars coming out that are higher on my list than the new ones.
Being a Holden fan I do have a few older Fords - Moffat cars and DJ's sierra and of course Lowndes Green eyed monster (which is a great livery). The other ford livery I wouldn't mind getting is the Ambrose car - pity BIANTE did not get this team...
The 2002 young lions car looks great and can't wait to add that one to the collection. Hopefully there will be another Holden to add to the Bathurst Winners circle :) this year.
Also how come BIANTE is not making the GRM cars for this year? I don't think CCs are making them so looks like their fans miss out this year - maybe they might win at Bathurst?

A different livery every year would be great. This is another reason why so many collectors were dissappointed that the one off livery on the HRT Queensland car didn't happen. ( Might have given them better luck in new colours ). Anyway I still collect the new years models to try and keep my collection complete. ( as complete as I can get it ) Each model can and does represent something different every season.
I guess this is another resaon why it would be nice to see some of the so calledlesser teams having models produced. The livery on these other teams would look good in our collections.

I'm not collecting V8Supercars as a theme, but I do have the DJ Collection up to date, which includes the DJ/SJ AU. I also have the Bargs/Tander Bathurst winner, and the 1990 Grice/Percy.
I'm contemplating getting a few of the latest Fords; Lowndes car looks great, and I'm looking forward to the Ozemail cars, that scheme looks sensational!!

Hi there,
Biante are not producing the GRM cars as CC have the rights to them is year. Also does anyone know if there will be a 1/43 bathurst winning car form last year as would like to add to my collection.Skiafe/Longhurst as in the gift set.
Has anyone else seen the new prototype picture in the new model showroom of the Brock/Baird bathurst 05 car under Biante Prototypes.?
I was only thinking of getting the 1:43rd version but I imagine the picture is of the 1:18th (correct me if i'm wrong Admin) and it looks fantastic. This is not going to help the Visa balance!!

Yes the prototype of the Brock/Baird 05 Bathurst car looks sensational. Can't wait to add this one to my collection.
Is the release date still going to be Bathurst week ?

Hey Grubby - it does look sensational... who knows you may need to add it twice if at the slim chance they win Bathurst ;)

I remember that Glenn Seton's team held a competition a couple of years back whereby readers of AUTO ACTION got to vote on what livery Ford Tickford Racing would run the following year; they printed three or four different designs in the magazine.
Given the repetitious fender bending that goes on in Aussie touring car racing these days, you'd reckon that it's not a big deal to carry out an annual livery change, even if the sponsor remains the same.
Here's hoping that Bathurst brings a few surprises; the Team Brock car for one ( although it's no surprise now!) looks fantastic.

I read an article in the Herald Sun today and there was a small mention about HRT and the VY for next season.
They mentioned the releasing of the "Bold New Battle Colours" for the 2003 season.
So maybe next years war paint on the HRT cars will be quite different from the last couple of years.
Can't wait to see it. Unfortunately they will not be releasing it until just before next season.......I think
