I have my final car to buy. 1:18 Citroen Xsara WRC AutoArt. Just waiting for pay day on Fri and that will signal my collection being complete.
My goal when I started was to collect all of the WRC cars of the 2004 season.
So it began, well then I changed my mind. I much prefered the cars of the 2003 season(206 still around, large white square used to put # on instead of rectangle;more traditional, etc.)
Well then I got my first AutoArt so I decided all had to be AutoArt if possible. So far they have yet to make the Fabia, Lancer, and Focus so if the do that...the collecting begins again :)!
I do enjoy buying these but I must call it a day before my wallet dies an empty death!

The trouble with restricting yourself to a relatively narrow theme is that you quickly run out of steam! Are there no other rally cars in the entire history of rallying that you like? Nothing from the Escort RS, Lancia Stratos, Fiat Abarth, Opel Manta 400, Lancia 037, Audi Quattro, Renault 5 Turbo, Peugeot T16, Citroen BX 4TC, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4, Lancia Integrale HF, Ford Sierra RS, BMW M3, Toyota Celica, Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo 6, or any other the hundreds of other cars that have rallied in the World Championship over the past 40 years? Wallet worries aside, the thrill of collecting is something that will leave a big empty hole in your life unless you've taken up something far more interesting! Go on, you know you want to carry on.......

I agree with Nick.
Restricting oneself to one year of rallying in one scale from one manufacturer is a bit narrow. Ok, so not every 1:18 rally car produced is not up to AutoArt's standards, but have you considered 1:43 instead? Cheaper, far greater range, good quality (AutoArt, Minchamps, IXO, Trofeu, Vitesse/Skid etc...), a virtual industry in Code 2 and 3 cars etc.
There are so many options, and so many great cars. By not collecting anything else but 1:18 AutoArt cars, you do not have a Colin McRae Subaru! EVERY self-respecting rally car collector has to have a McRae Subaru somewhere in their collection. It's....it's....it's....heresy not to........
There are so many classic names and classic cars that you will have entirely cut yourself off from....
Pick up a history of rallying and then try to resist the temptation to start collecting other rally cars. My bet is that pretty soon, Integrales, Celicas, Corollas, Mini's, RS200's, Stratos' and more will filter into your collection eventually. Go on, you know you want to.... You need to....
