Hi all, I want to go up to the paperclip 300 at Willowbank on the saturday (sunday's a little too steep for me) and I am chasing the event programme. AVESCO in all their sophistication has neglected it on their site link. I would love to know times of races like Aussie Cars, Carreras and anything else as well as the V8's. Please help me thanks.

Can anyone explain to me why the 300 is only 280Ks? If they did 96 laps instead of 90 they would be only half a klick off 300Ks?

i dont think anyone can figure out why it is only 280Ks worth.
it must be a time issue.

I'm quite sure that it's to do with the television coverage.
At least that's what I read when they first cut the race from 300 km a year or so back.
You'd reckon that they'd take advantage of a longer telecast to cram in a few more adds.......
This is my last year of going to the V8s, the racing is just not fair dinkum any more, the rulemakers & referees never seem to agree on anything, and have just turned it into a joke.

Pretty sure you are correct re race distance...It is a TV timeslot thing. So judging by the effort last round, (bugger all of race one), this time they may just start the telecast on Lap 14 so as to be able to get all of the Ads in and still show some of the race !! :D

its been going on for years. when was the last year it was fair dinkum? 1969? i must admit my interest is waning, i wish that some of the other classes that feature on speed week had a better covrage. i dont like the way the races are shown. if it wasnt for bathurst, i might not worry about the v8's. i like the racing of old. maybe its time for a change. things dont stay the same forever. in fact every ten years or so there has been a major change in touring car racing in australia.

LOL, how true.
I really enjoy the racing more nowadays than before and the personalities that come with it, both in the box and on the track. And I'm old enough to remember some of the old, and was part of it in NZ.:D I'd welcome the opportunity to join the circus in some shape or form.
Cheers
