John Bowe ATCC 1995

Need to pick the brains of some of you knowledgable forum members out there.
Was John Bowe's 95 atcc winning car an EF Falcon? Was it car #18?
I am confused as Gatewaymodels has a 96 JB EF Falcon by CC which is a #18 car.Didn't he run car#1 in 96?Is this a misprint and the #18 car is in fact 1995?
Just want to know as I have a smattering of ATCC cars in 1:43 and would like JB's winning car.

Bowe ran #18 in 1995. He ran #1 in 1996.

The first cars Classics modelled were 1996, so definately not the 1995 car...

There was a number 1 car released very early on in the Classics range (model 2001) that is the 1996 SATCC car. (Model Cars of the World has one for $40)

From memory, the 2018 car was released because there were two #1 cars (Lowndes 1996 SATCC model was also released with #1) and is depicted as the PR car was painted. The Sandown and Bathurst car were slightly different.

When was it that DJR went to the red nose? 1997 or 1998? I ask because maybe the 2018 car is the 1997 car?

I've seen a pic of the 2018 and it is an FAI sponsored one without the 'red nose'.

I've been informed that this model represents the car that Bowe drove in the latter part of 1996so doesnt look like a 1995 car was made -bummer.:(

OOPS...I meant the 2018-1 (but forgot the -1)

The reason being, when you look at Gateway and Model Cars of the World Website they have

2001 - 1996 (Shell FAI)
2018 - 1996 (Shell FAI)
2018-1 - 1998 (Shell Helix, red nose)

Bowe never drove the 18 car in 1996, as he co-drove with Johnson at Sandown and Bathurst...

I thought that CC's made a 1997 car...but that list seems to imply they didn't:confused:

From memory when John clinched the title in race 1 or 2? at Oran Park & the team crossed out the #8 on the side of his car for the final race of the round.

John then did run the proper #1 from round 1 of the 1996 season under Shell-Fai colours.

The red nosed (yellow tailed) cars did not arrive until the use of the EL at the start of 1997 season. FAI decided not the re-new their sponsorship & the team was re-named Shell Helix Racing.

As to whether the EL released by classics was a 97 or 98, I am not sure, but in my records (of what I have) I have them listed as 1997 because they match the posters I have of the 1997 cars.

Which Bathurst are you talking about (1000km or ATCC) because he ran in #17 for the 1000.

That's cool, as a side note, JB ran #17 at Bathurst from 1988 to 1997 (see attached pic) when Dick teamed up with Jr & JB stayed in #18 which he shared with Cam McConville.

I have one of these 2001 #1 Bowe Fords.
It comes with a separate decalset inside the box for you to place on the model.
It also has a little warning sheet with it that warns that standing on it (Excessive downwards preasure) may cause damage to the wheels and other components;)
The model looks like it should be a EF and does have the ATCC livery on it.
Masport on front window.

By the way, there is a ex DJR EF FORD racecar here in Perth, still in the original paint minus decals.
