I've also seen pictures of the Torana Prototype (or sketches developed from the Torana) with VE Commodore written on them...click here (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?p=56 6818)

Thought I better do the right thing and start a new thread...

Anyway, the 2006 Opel Omega is a German built VE Commodore (sort of ironic really)...

This Picture (http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article.aspx?id =5396&vf=1) is an early picture of the Opel...looks familiar to the pics in the links above...

Then I found this (http://www.germancarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/spypho toid/6040505.001/opel/1.html), its also an artists rendering...but there is definately a common theme here...

...and if you look at the first link (http://gmh-torana.imagineering.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t= 18212&view=next&sid=d06a95526137a2111df452a4fa228fbf&&DI=194&IG=65f58cba15ef46a8b686fc7e1a509ef0&POS=3&CM=WPU&CE=2&CS=AWP&SR=2) again, some pictures of a VY test mule have been added...notice the dual exhaust, pumped rear quarters etc...;)

Cheers

That Opel Omega looks promising, they just have to do a job on the grille. I also hope it looks better than the prototype pics theyve given us.

There's a 4 page spread on what wheels think it will look like.

click here (http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/portal/alias__carp ointau/tabID__3376/DesktopDefault.aspx) to view the front cover.

cheers. :)

This Link (http://magshop.com.au/Wheels.htm) may be better...

Still a common theme there...Its more or less how defined the bonnet ridge is. Given the definition of the ridge on the VZ, I'd lean towards the Opel pictures above, with the Toprana-style (Wheels cover) grill.

Cheers

I think the version on the Wheels cover looks great. If it's close to that I'll be happy.

I was speaking to a family member of mine (who works for Holden @ fishermans bend) this afternoon that were telling me that GMHA are extreamly annoyed with the cover of this months Wheels magazine.

This is because the image on it was sold to them (Wheels) by en ex-employee that had been fired due to taking home images of the new VE, but more to the fact that it is an extreamly accurate (one of the final designs) example of what VE will look like.

cheers. :)

That ex employee didnt deserve to work for Holden! Holden would have probably released that image prior to the launch next year and this idiot went and sold it to wheels (if that is true). Someone should go and steal his computer and see how he likes it!

surely anyone that has seen the actual pictures of the VE would of signed some form stating they cannot release any information etc about it.....if that bloke did sell it he would be in the poo i'd imagine.

firstly, if this image supposedly sold to wheels was one of the final designs, it would have been a design sketch, or a 3d computer model, not just a photoshopped image.

also, i know a number of people that have seen the VE (or specific parts of it) and yes, they have signed a privact disclamer thing, and also get searched for cameras and pictures so nothing can get out.

itll be interesting to see how close the images are though

One would assume that Holden will take legal action, unfortunately because the pictures are now in the public domain they can't sue for breach of duty of confidence, and the necessary injuction to prevent the pictures being printed
