Good race one. I thought Richo did a great job in race one to hold out Ingall. Murph deserved a pat on the back as well.
I can't believe how fast the SBR car of Ambrose is. That was amazing.
Mark Skaife. I have officially lost patience with you.

Was Mark Skaife serious with that peak in the interview? The peak of his cap was ENORMOUS! Good race though, OP doesn't generally generate that sort of racing. Good enough to be there next year!

Ok so are Britex going to sue Tasman for J.Richards punting M.White into the wall? Seems ironice really that a team that complianed so much about being hard done at QR is involved in a similar incident at Oran Park.
Back to the Racing! Good speed shown by HSVDT, with both cars right up there at the end of race 2, could it be a Tander/R.Kelly Bathurst podium?
The SBR cars were in a class of there own, great race pace from both cars inparticular Rusty. The pairing of Ambrose and Luff could be one to watch in the long distance races.
Wayno agree with you on Skaife, blaming everyone under the sun for not being ready at the start of race1. Toddler didnt have the best of days but atleast he didnt crash like the boss.
Steve Johnson to SBR i hope not, that will be the end of that car being up the front, even though im a Holden supporter.

I didnt watch the race but it seems everything has gone wrong with Skaife the last three seasons. When he had the VT/VX nothing went wrong just like Ambrose at the moment. Im glad he's going to America, we might have a Holden winner next year...

The main person beating Mark Skaife at the moment is himself. The list of schoolboy errors he's made over the last few seasons is huge.
I don't believe in bad luck and do not think I am being too harsh on him. He's leading what is touted as the premier Holden team in our biggest series. I am a Skaife fan, but at the moment his efforts are far from what should be expected

I for one would like this, as it will finally give Steven a chance to silence his knockers. The guy can drive, but you put Marcos in car #17 & I bet he wouldn't go a lot better because the car simply isn't good enough as yet. Perhaps this is why Lowndes chose Triple 8 over DJR & who could blame him.
While we're talking about Stevie J, you put any of the drivers in the current SBR car & they'll all shine. Look at Greg Ritter for example. He drove with Marcos & won the Sandown 500 & where is he now ??? Back in the pack as his FPR car simply isn't as good as the SBR machine.
Yes Marcos is a very talented driver & possibly better than Jr, but lets not forget SBR have got the best Falcon in the field at present & in a sport where there are extremely slim margin, any advantage is a big advantage.
cheers :)

IMHO it's time for Skaife to either step back from team "ownership" or get out of the race car. I don't think he's had a decent start all year, and not only that he looks like he'd rather be somewhere else most of the time.
After Ambrose's performance in Race 1, I would hate to see Lowndes in an SBR car. You wouldn't see him for dust. They definitely have #1 working well...perhaps too well...

No I don't think your being to hard at all, I am also a Skaife fan and believe he needs to start getting some solid results and quick! as i am getting frustrated....well done to Murphy equal second from 18th on the grid fantastic effort.....it must be getting close to October he's zoning inn
Also I think I might put a few bucks on Tander/ R.Kelly for Bathurst.. this should be one of the best combinations

Now you're not making suggestions about that naughty 'P' word are you :D ???
Granted, he was very quick & yet so too was Rusty in race 2.
Listening to Marcos' comments about Bathurst on RPM (he believes he has a big enough points gap to focus upon winning the 1000 as he feels he can wear a DNF in the search of a 1000 win) makes me think he believes his name is already on the V8SCC mug.
Perhaps counting his chicken a little too early, but then again after the pace he showed today maybe not.......
cheers. :)

Hmmm...less about the evil 'P' word, more about appearances being deceiving. Whoever jumps into that car next year is going to be under more pressure to perform than anyone else. Failure to win could effectively mean the end of that person's career...
On the flipside, if Marcos is a major flop in the US, how much focus would that put on his three championship victories?

The HSV Racing lead car is starting to look ok isn't it? Through faster corners I think the cars looked superb.
Someone has to step up to the bat to stop SBR or Lowndes.

I would argue against this, but it could certainly cast a cloud over the whole series in the short term.
Granted that, I think the two disciplines (NASCAR & V8 Supercars) are poles apart, that the motorsport press wouldn't begrudge him, even though I suspect the tabloid press would hang him – look how they’ve treated Mark Webber this year, but that’s another thread !!!
Considering the like of who he's had to beat to win them (V8SCC), I think that his achievements will not be discounted, by a failed NASCAR attempt.
cheers. :)

I agree Skaife has got too much on his plate as team owner. I think he is concentrating too much on not making a mistake rather than enjoying being out there racing!

It's not bloody working! I can't believe the car is to blame for his starting problems. I have not seen him make a good start all year. He's made a couple of decent ones and that's about it.

Isn't it funny how this team has turned around full circle since the visit of a Mr T.Walkinshaw.........
After looking at this weekend one could not be confused for thinking that they are now starting to rattle the boffins on the other side of the wall of the workshop in Clayton.
And yes, I am still getting them confused with HRT when I see them on the tv. It's a good thing they have that big, black, bold, Biante logo on the front bar to set me straight.
cheers. :D

Bathurst should be unbelievable this year. The amount of cars that have a real good shot at the race this year is awesome.
I would love to see Murph win again, but I still worry about the Weel factor.

How sensational was the burn from the stern by Marcos?
I don't rate it as highly as Rusty's effort to come fromt he last row to finish 4th at Darwin, but the rate with which he caught and passed the backmarkers was blinding.
That last corner effort in particular will be in my memory for a while. I still don't know how he got past that HSVDT car.

I'd have to agree Brad
I seriously doubt any of those good ol' boys from NASCAR could cut it in our main game in the short term.
I think in recent years, with the exception of Jon Cleland who has performed admirably, no overseas driver has performed even close to satisfactorily at Bathurst. In fact our main game makes what are regarded as very talented overseas drivers look very poor

Well I had a fantastic time at OP 3 days of motorsport as part of the TKR team albiet in the merchandise side of it, but spent some time in the pits and we all went out on Fri and Sat (and should I mention the Rugby here.............................................. ..................:D ) we were in some pub in Liverpool all in our TKR gear and giving the locals hell, a really good night.
TKR were happy that Paul got up to 9th for the weekend and up one spot in the championship.
It was really good to be on that side of the sport, not just a watcher. Also great to catch up with forum members TonyNZ and Damian, great to see you guys. I took over 300 pic's for the weekend.
Weather was fab, d@mn cold in the mornings, very frosty, but great days, the last race of the day Sunday the Aussie racing cars was finished in the dark!
Tossing up whether or not to go to Sandown, may have to go in an offical capacity again!
Sorry if this seems like I was bragging but I really had a great time!

I just read about the results. Congratulations to Russell Ingall, and also to Marcos Ambrose who looks to be right on track for a three-peat. He is a CLASS act and is responding to all those who were trying to knock him by rubbing their faces in it, and I include a certain other driver in that group.
As for HRT, karma!

Shouldn't the premier Holden team be either PWR or CPR?
They either build or supply bits to virtually every V8SC Commodore out there.

Doesn't the win at Sandown in 2003 count?
Oh well, hopefully there's less arrogance from him in future V8 Super Stars exchanges with Rusty given their relative performances in the last 24 months.

did u only take pics of the v8's or all races? if all could u upload sum of the rx-7. dam that car flew.
the last race of the day Sunday the Aussie racing cars was finished in the dark!
down at the esses the aussie cars were absolutely flying around the corners. they didnt have headlights either. sketchy
overall i would say that the v8's were average to the rest of the day, sure ambrose powered through the field, but that was eclipsed by the crash in the lotus' cup. that was HUGE.
in the performance cars, the rx-7 was the action in both races on sunday, in a battle for third (cant remeber if he got it or not) and the the battle for 1st in the second race (that he had thanks to a lap car getting in the way). when he and an evo in second crossed the finish line third was passing me down at the esses. then there was an evo who spun twice in 200 metres (once a coolision and the other driving to far over the ripple strip.

A VCR wouldn't help much anyway...
I taped it, and watched it last night...
Race one shows around 40 of the 54 laps (at one ad break, 10 laps vanish )
Race two, you get to see the first 18 laps, then during the ad break a further 12 laps get gobbled up taking you to lap 30. At lap 37 another add break is inserted and when you come back its lap 49...Just over half of the race was shown (30/54 laps)...you see more in a highlights package  pathetic...

I glad you mentions this Leigh as I watched race 2 on the tape again Monday as I felt I'd missed a chunk of the race on Sunday. Suprise, suprise 1/2 of race 2 went missing in the ad breaks  !!!
Considering that Bathurst is the only race that is truely shown live, there is no reason why they can't just stop the tape, play the ads & rejoin from the exact point they left the race.
Sure they can fast foward through the safety car peroids, but what about the racing !!!

Well seeing I am a big HRT fan,I am glad I was away all weekend and didnt have to watch what I have heard was a complete shambles from the boys in Team Red.
Never thought I would say this but I reckon if James Courtney goes well in the enduros then he and Todd Kelly should be the 2 drivers for next season with Skaife out of the car running the team.
As someone else said on this thread,1 win in 3 seasons is unacceptable for the '#1' driver in the red camp.
I have finally ran out of patience with 'old big nose'.
Of course no doubt he will prove me wrong now by winning both the enduros lol! (dream on)
