G'day all,
Wayno & I were thinking about organising a group booking at Red Mist Racing (Hyperstimulator) (http://www.redmist.com.au/) in Narre Warren on the weekend of the Sandown 500.
With quite a few members in the area for the 500 we thought that a bit of a get together could be a bit of fun.
Details are as follows,
We need 8+ people keen to come & play to book the centre.
Cost is $50ea
Time 6pm onwards (about 4 hrs).
Date :TBA, but either the Friday or Saturday night of the Sandown 500 (9th, 10th September)
If you want to be a part of this, either post below or send a pm.
cheers. :)

Do we know what game we are playing, i looked on their website and it said you do a 12 lap race with a pitstop, a bit unrealistic i thought, lol.... Im used to 2 hour races ;)

Ok well it's booked & organised.
Saturday 10th September.
To answer your question amon, the game is based upon Sierras Nascar Season 2003, but is heavily modified.
The cars are all 600hp short wheelbase Transams, no driver aids so heaps of power sliding !!!
There's still about 5 spots for people interested.
cheers. :)

Ok i have had the Trans Am Series on NR2003 for a few years now, have'nt played it since GTR but good fun. I better install it on Wayno's computer to give him some practice. Just a shame there are very few accurate Aussie Tracks for that Game. Baskerville is about the only Aussie Track worth playing along with Symmons Plains. I downloaded Calder the other day, it stayed on my computer for about 2 laps, lol....

I've only driven PI, Sandown & Bathurst in the hyper & out of all of them, I think PI was the best !!!
I must admit I did enjoy the longer version of Watkins Glen & really enjoyed Portland with the chicane, even though it was a bloody hard track to pass on.
cheers. :)

Yeah out of those 3 mentioned the Island is not a bad effort. Sandown and Bathurst are way off in accuracy. Birchi are the Trans Am cars the PTA version, the TPTCC version or the TRAC2 4 Speed cars? Easy way to tell the Trans Am from the TPTCC versions is the TPTCC has the GT40 in it along with the Stangs, Vettes, Vipers etc.

I don't know to be honest as all 10 cars are the same, just different colours.

Don't worry too much Wayne as, as far as I know there's only two of us who have, so you should be ok.
It's looking to be quite a fun night, all we have to do is work out a track that will both be challenging, but not too challenging, as well as allowing for plenty of passing, as processional racing is a definite no, no !!!
cheers :)

I would of joined in, but I have a boxers fracture, "Broken bone above knuckle on little finger" so I’m out of action for six weeks.
You gents will have a blast.

In pain Mike.

If you're going to be Thexton, I'll be Forbes (or is that Baird):D...or I might try a Romano at PI and just run everybody else off the road!!!

Excellent Brad. Good to hear. All we need is a good turnout now to meet up at the track on Saturday andwe'll have a great day!

I'll bump this one last time & say that we've got one seat left & we'll be starting at 6pm on Saturday night.
Should be a good night & looking at the weather forecast it could be a good chance to dry out after a real winters Saturday afternoon at the track.
Just a reminder that you will need to pay on the night ($50) at the venue.
In case anyone doesn't know where to go, just click on the link in my tag, or send me a PM & I'll help you out.

Used Kyalami. I'm not much of a computer gamer so didn't expect much.
It really takes some getting used to as the cars are very twitchy. They sound awesome though.
I came 5th overall on the point score behind the guns. Want some practice and another crack at it to be sure!

Yeah was lots of fun, i just needed power steering, lol. My left arm was actually swollen, lol. Funny, the next day i played the game on my pc with my wheel and was doing 1m13s by about the 4th lap, lol best i think i did in the sims was 1m15s, lol... That was default setup as i have no idea about setting up a car, lol...

Brad one thing i noticed, and i said this to Wicksy but he laughed, lol. Yesterday i didnt change setup but lap times slowed 2 secs, how? wind, lol i went from doing 190 mph down the straight to 182, lol. I noticed on Sat nite we had changing weather so maybe thats why the times were different at times.

One thing for sure is the race officials and panelbeaters would have made a mint. I got a black flag for speeding in pit lane. I plead mitigating circumstances as I was upside down at the time and the brakes wouldn't work!

Wayne were you the cause of my crew cheif saying to me "there's and accident in the pits" lmao and im thinking hmmmm how on earth, lol. Was funny in the last race, i got taken out lapping a guy, ended up in pit lane so i had to make an extra stop, hehe....

I got down to 1min 21 in the last race;) but then the black flag on Lap 13 (and people think the IPO has a delayed reaction!!) for giving you a "tap" before the start line in the rolling start put me down the back of the field...
Brad was telling me yesterday that after coming out of the pits you have to "warm" the tyres back up...could explain my blow out on the second corner after serving my drive thru LOL
Anyway, 7th overall wasn't too bad considering I finished that last race 6 laps down and dnf'd the second race!!!
Thanks for organising a great night out Brad.
AF, my left arm was killing me once I got home LOL...
Cheers

I didn't take notice of the weather conditions - wind speed/direction would have changed top speed, for sure. However, the setup from practice differed to what we used for racing, no question. The gear ratios were much closer in practice and the setup in the race had more rear traction - after 3 or 4 laps it developed quite a bit of push, whereas in practice you had to wait much longer to get into full throttle off the turns or you'd buzz the rear tyres and have a tank-slapper.
The practice setup was harder to drive, but was faster. It took me nearly all night in the racing to match my practice time.
A sore arm is not uncommon for newbies - you should try an oval race!

Not bad was it.
I think the IPO wasn't present that night, but I might add that I was awarded one of the very few black flags of the night because I was leading (in the 24lap final). However once I did a Kim Jane, it was instantly removed :D !!!
Just was well though as I have a feeling the IPO would have emptied all Wayno's pockets of cash as he seemed to be dishing out more hits than Elvis :D

I'm glad it wasn't just me who found this. I must admit I was a bit miffed in the final race as I was literally going as hard as I could (without crashing) & only doing mid to high 15's yet in the practice I was regularly in the mid to high 14's.
cheers.

I copped as many, if not more than I dished out. That's what you get for putting me in car 8! :D
I think it was your brother that helped me out with my 'unscheduled' pit stop by the way! :D

Hmmmmmm, car 8. That was that mobile road block wasn't it. The one that kept getting in my way each time I came around to lap it :D !!!
Yeah what was going on there between you & my little brother. You two had more hits at one other than an angry Paul Romano at Phillip Island :D
What a great night, we must do that again !!!

It definately was good fun and I'd love to do it again. Might have to look into getting the game put on my pc so I can get some practice.
I want to make sure I aquit myself better next time! ;)
